HP - Office Jet Pro 8600 Plus ANALYSIS not at all - on WIN 7 64 - bit OS
doesn't recognize PC or connection - using the USB cable. have you tried to re - install software, (brand new) hardware connections.
will print from Word and copy.
HP - msg - "communication scanner cannot be established.
Paper Port 14 (WIN 7 compatible) - "cannot communicate with scanner."
have also disabled firewall McAffee
Need more information to understand the issue.
Just restart the printer and the PC front to do following tasks.
1. are you able to copy of the printer.
2. If so, then use the windows paint program and go to file file-> starting from a Scanner or a digital camera and select the printer to scan
3. If this does not work, there is really a problem with the USB Port. Make sure you use a USB 2.0 port to connect.
Defnitely of computer you have additional USB 2.0 port.
Another choice, opt for a network connection.

I have just purchsed the HP Office Jet Pro 8600 Plus and I wanted to print on legal size paper, but I can't figure out how to do this. Can anyone help?
There is a blue tab at the end of the paper tray. That push and the plateau extends to the legal size. Hope that helps. Now what about this one: I want to charge 11 "legal in Tray 1 and tray 2 and, hopefully, the printer will know what bin to shoot when you print legal documents?
I had my Office Jet Pro 8600 more for a few months and have been scanning a pretty good volume without problems. Now, I have what I believe to be a their material. That's the problem. I'm getting random LARGE band (broad sense) about 1/2 to 3/4 inch of black, gray, or white streaks down the pages. I had the problem of cleaning so I cleaned everything, always there, but not every time. So I raised the lid and set the paper on the glass, guess what still there. So now I know that it is NOT a problem of cleaning. Switch papers, always there. Is not a problem of cleaning, not a charger problems, not paper I'm scanning. At this point, the only thing I can think is that some of the scanning light is on the fritz. It seems to do better after a rest and as I said it comes and goes. Any ideas anyone? I think that this could be a problem of default. Please let me know.
If the printer is to give you a black line when scanning/copying with the ADF and flat, then I would hazard a guess that the printer is connected to a surge protector. If so, then try the following steps.
* Unplug the printer while on
Disconnect the other end of the power cord from the surge protector
* Wait 60 seconds
* Plug the printer back to power on a direct outlet
The 8600 does not need to have a surge between her protector and the wall unit has protection against overvoltages, built in. Being doubled surge protection can sometimes cause this type of line to appear using the 8600. I hope this helps.
The scanner no longer works and any document that I scan appears only as a complete document of vertical lines and no recognizable parts of the letter under analysis (text). This happens for self as well as the glass. The printer is plugged directly into a socket and not to a power strip. I did the zero setting: unplug, wait 15 seconds, reconnect. The drivers are up to date and the doctor HP software has not set. The yellow ink is empty, then I print and black ink only until I can get it replaced. I don't think that would cause a problem to scan I just save as pdf and not printing. Any ideas? Thanks for getting back to me @Jangofat,
I am ready to throw this printer out the window! I'm tired of false paper jam messages. The printer will be fine for a few weeks, then... another message of jam that can take hours to clear.
I: reset the printer, looked for jams, checked the latest firmware, shaken and even moved the print cartridge support to the right (which is surprising solved the problem several times). The only thing I have not tried is a ceremony of purification of incense.
Come on HP, stop telling us to try all of the unnecessary procedures. There is a sensor in the machine that is faulty. Fix it!
Instead of throwing out the window, I'll put it on the sidewalk and invite passers-by to take their frustration with a hammer. It would make a great video!
Additional info: if I'm able to run "align print heads", who often corrects the situation. A little more evidence that there is a sensor on the blink.
28/08/14: personal support HP said that the problem I encountered was very likely due to a defective sensor.
I just sent you a private message. If you are unsure how to check your messages on the forum this post, has instructions.
This has probably happened to other people here so take it. I have the printer for use of home business and I need to print all digital records I make to make sure they print to the top right. I can be a bit of a pig to ink with printing with color etc. I usually pick up my local Walmart cartridges and always get the size XL color and black ink cartridges.
The local Wal-Mart stopped carrying cartridges XL last time I checked. I usually get the 951. I didn't pick up the ink, one of the last moments where I am gone shopping there but thought that I should get back up and I chose the cartridge wrong 952 number and he wasn't XL.
He was sitting in the drawer a few months until what I needed. I just opened and realize it does not fit well and I got the wrong cartridges.
I try to take it back to Wal-Mart, but they have a policy where they do not accept the things that have been opened. I don't see why they wouldn't take it because there is no way they can say I'm scammng them and have used ink. I know that HP has the opportunity to know the ink levels and call them.
I called HP and talk to two people of different media. I asked for the money, I want just the right cartridges. An Exchange. I am also looking for what a better provider of XL size cartridges. Remember these 952 cartridges cost 59.99 so not a small loss. They speak to a supervisor and they say that if I bought ink HP of them directly they could make an Exchange if I got the wrong cartridges, but since I bought their product from another retailer I'm just out of luck.
So I'm about to even consider buying cartridges directly from HP right now? Little. They also have even tried and there was a huge opportunity missed with all of this. My computer would constantly than me on the purchase of HP ink cartridges and I would decline and now they finally on the phone, and they blow it.
I'm sure a lot of people have caught the cartridge wrong given that many of them with different numbers. In the past, there no info on the boxes to help understand you which printers work of cartridge. I have never caught the cartridge wrong before, but there's always a first time. After looking closer, I see there are the numbers on the side of the box that list the numbers of the printer, but it is small and I think the best place would be in the front or the back. But who would cross the space that they occupy the space with the sale.
If one does not buy a 952 that has three colors within me? He has three new never been used color cartridges regular size Magena, Cyan and yellow? Also I would ask where people buy their size XL HP cartridges, and who has the best prices on them?
Thank you for sending this customer support. They solved the problem for me and once I got to the right person it has been much more quickly that I never thought I'd fixed! Thanks for listening.
How can I get printer to stop putting lines down the page when I copy from the Scan or FAX? I went through all the steps recommended by HP and they have failed to solve my problem.
Just when I was ready to give up and call HP about sending printer for the interview, I discovered that HP had developed a Wisard able to look at my computer, find the problem and fix it. And it worked! Thank you HP.
When I print wireless, the printer gives me message that the ink is low and he used to feel. However, the printer has new cartirdges of ink and printer records only. I can print with a connector of my HP laptop to the same printer and it works fine.
I restarted my MAC and I don't know what else to do. Very frustrated that I use this printer with my MAC every day and a lot. Help

Hello. I downloaded the software for this printer (HP Office jet Pro 8600 Plus) to my computer using a disk and had no problems. Now the printer has stopped working, and no matter what I did it would not return to work. So they told me to uninstall the program and restart. However I can't find the disc so have tried to do this even though the website upload support. However, it allows me to do so, he used actually even open the Web page, I need to download. What's not? Will I go and order a new drive at HP for this printer. Thank you

I have a problem recently set at the point to save a scanned image. My HP Office Jet Pro 8600 more communicates very well with my MacPro conputer but save him as option is grayed out. I tried savving in jpg or pdf, but grayed out now. I don't know how this some. I had the sytem for a few years and am just now finding this problem. I wonder for a prefix (I remember this, but...) and no matter what I enter here the Save as button remains greyed out.
It works if I choose 'print' scanned image print and then saved as a pdf.
I tried everything turning on and off. The scanner is connected to the wireless computer.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you for using the HP Forums.
Have you installed the HP Easy Scan software?
If you do not, we recommend that do you so and use the analysis of the HP.

I have an Office Jet Pro 8600 and need to know if there is a way to fix the screen faded. You don't see the options like print, scan, fax, tools... It isn't that I know where they are and who's who for the most part.
In addition, scanning is not clear. Everything is faded. However, it still prints and faxes by a fine. I hope I don't have to buy a new All In One Printer. I finally got most of the glitches and tricks when I have a problem with it. Is it possible that there is a light bulb needs to be changed or something? I appreciate your help & feed back as soon as possible. I use in an office on a daily basis.
Welcome to the Forums of HP's Support.
I see that you have some problems with the copy and see the display on your Officejet 8600 e-all-in-one printer. I can help you with that.
To start, make sure that the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a surge protector. Once it is, while the printer is on, remove the power cable at the back of the printer for one minute.
If after the above, that you can't always see the screen or copy clear, the printer needs to be replaced because it has no replaceable bulbs in the scanner or the display. You can contact the HP Support by clicking here and filling out the form below to see what options are available.
Please let me know if that solves your problems. If so, please click on accept solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. The two icons are below this post.
Well, I got my answer because I could not find a topic 'resolved' in this regard. So I decided to post my findings to help the next interrogator (is that a word = the one interviewing). FYI - I am not a "geek", and while I can find my way around a computer it sometimes takes a while. Also, I have Windows 7 on this laptop if it makes a difference.
1. go to control panel and choose:
2. material and audio, then
3 devices and printers, then
4 fax - HP Office Jet Pro 8600 (network) or whatever printer choice applies to your situation, then
5 HP Printer Wizard, then
6 scanner activities, then
7. analyze a document or a picture, then
8. Save as PDF
10. save in a folder you choose
I know this may seem simplistic to most of you, but maybe someone like me is out there, trying to find this out and this could help.
Thank you for posting your solution you found yourself, on the use of the scanning function on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600. I apologize as we were not fast enough to answer one of your questions on the Forums of HP Support. I've been able to check your user page but could not find your original post on us asking how Scan, did you remove the question? Anyway I'm glad you are now to the top and scanning of your JO 8600.
For later use, I would like to you to take a look here: how Scan: Windows 7, here we will give all the options and shortcuts on scanning with or without the HP software as well as a few cool features, like the scan from the front panel of your 8600 and adding several pages in a single file.
Yet once I thank you for taking the time to help other members of the community, so thank you once again!
I get error that "additional software is necessary to continue' when I try to install the software and drivers for my wireless printer Office Jet Pro 8600. I just got a new laptop and had at first no parameter problem the printer and it prints fine, but now for some reason it is not print at all. I tried to restart my laptop and printer several times, but it keeps saying printer offline even if it is connected to my wireless. I followed the recommendation of an assignment that suggests to abolish the printer and reinstall, which is where I am now. Now, I can not install this printer at all by the above error message. Help, please!
When you try to install with the CD, try installing the latest Windows 7 driver from the HP website. Restart the computer, turn off the printer, then reboot your router and then launch the installation. Here is a direct link to the driver file:
Select the connection Wireless option during installation to get the printer on the network and associated with the laptop. Let me know if this helped at all...

I was looking for a fax to the internet number for my Office Jet Pro 8600. I looked at the forum, but could not tell if my printer was able to do it or not. If you can let me know I would appreciate it.
