HP Officejet Pro 8600 more print but not scan
I have an Officejet Pro 8600 and I use Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) and it print and copy but will not scan. I had a hell of a time trying to get this thing to scan - I even spent an hour and a half with HP technical support and they could not fix it and finally gave up and call me Micro$ oft said that it must be a windows problem (Windows is up to date, incidentally).
I tried to open the scanner software and nothing happens when I click the icon - the loading icon flashes for a second, then only the mouse pointer. Nothing happens if I try to boot from all programs. Nothing happens if I try to scan to the computer of the other printer told me the failure of sweeping and that there could be reasons of severalpossible (unrelated, software used, etc.).
I have installed and uninstalled. A couple of times he was having trouble with the installation, but finally got it connected. Once it would not uninstall in Control Panel until I did it directly from the HP folder. I connected it by USB and wireless. I installed the version of bloatware. I cleaned that out and I tried the only version of drivers. The HP support person had me go and removed a bunch of stuff in the registry. I tried to run as an administrator. Nothing works. I even tried to scan using Windows Fax and scan. I disabled Kaspersky and made sure that my firewall is turned off.
I am at my wits end with this and certainly regret my purchase at the moment. Help!
Hello, it happens to the analysis of Windows (WIA) and generates an error:
"The Windows Imaging service does not work... If the problem persists, you will not be able to scan using the applications that use this service, such as Microsoft Paint. Scanning software HP could still work. »
It asked me to restart, and then re-run the diagnostic tests, but I got the same result.
Then, I jumped to HP Scanner Twain and got another error:
"The Twain component is not working properly because the product is used by another process. Save your work and close all applications. Turn the product off, turn it on again, and then click on restart and repeat the test. »
He told me then the problem persists to uninstall the software, then reinstall the Full Feature software (I did, but available).
* EDIT
Problem solved! After you had me run the diagnostic tool I googled the WIA problem and found that many other people had the same problem. A person has a response from Micro$ oft saying that it was a Windows 7 issue and how to fix it - this is the text I found:
To start the WIA service, you need start all services of dependence. To start the dependency services, please follow the steps mentioned below:
-> > click on start-> type "services.msc" and press ENTER, once you get up the services window, please do the rest steps.
-> > first check and write down all the dependency services: -
-> > right WIA-> properties-> tab dependence, check the services of name listed there.
It must contain the following services:
* RPC remote Procedure Call
-> > DCOM Server process Launcher
-> > RPC end point mapper
* Detection material core
Make sure that all of the above services are started in the services list.
Last time, we started the Detection hardware Kernel, which solves our problem.
(Andy, it's important. Choose "Detection hardware Kernel ' and start this service which should start your 'Windows Imaging Acquisition '. If it does not then select WIA and change the departure to "automatic". This fixed my problems) after all dependency services start, please try to start, WIA service to solve the problem of .
(For those who are doubtful with computers, like me, when you click on the start icon, you can type services.msc in the box of research programs or click on run and type it in there). Once inside the list of services, you can look at the dependencies by right-clicking on the Windows Image acquisition service and selecting Properties. Take note of these dependencies. Then back to the main list and watch to see if these dependencies are started. My Shell Hardware Detection says disabled, so I right click on it; However, starting selection is grayed out and I couldn't select it from the drop-down list box, so Startup type I selected Automatic, apply, close the Services window and then started my Scan software and presto, it worked.
Thanks for setting me on the right track!

OfficeJet Pro L7590 can print but not scan
My printer (Officejet Pro L7590) can print and copy correctly, but the scan function - that has worked well at the same time - has just up and stop working, and my attempts to solve the problem simply go round.
- When I try to scan using the button start scan on the printer, I get an error message saying 'no scan options '.
- When I try to open the solution Center, it is said that he cannot run because the installation is not complete.
- Uninstalling and reinstalling the software (latest version, which is three years, downloaded from the HP website) do not work. The software seems to go through the process of installation very well, but crashes on the stage finish ("product configuration"). Eventually it times out.
- Once in this case, the installer downloads a supposed solution of the HP Web site. He told me that it is fixing the problem and asks me to restart the computer, saying it will continue after the restart. After I restart, the procedure does not continue, and the problem is not fixed - all the behaviors I describe above are still occurring.
- Also downloaded one file with other solutions supposed to this question. They do not work. For the most part, they are variations on "run the setup software again", preceded by various other measures. However, when I do this, it re-not installing - it is a completely different window, and if I try to go back to the installation procedure, he refuses, telling me the software is already installed. (And yet when I try to open the solution Center, he always tells me it is not installed.)
- Tonight is the third time I tried to troubleshoot it. On three occasions, I just gave up in frustration after a few variations of the cover above.
- I'm this end =><= to="" going="" all="" office="" space="" on="" this="" printer="" and="" getting="" a="" new="" one="" based="" on="" the="" abhp="" principle="" -="">=>Anything But HP.
I can't emphasize enough that it worked in the past and this basis still printing very well (with the exception of some strange problems with certain PDF files), but scanning has broken since my last round of hardware upgrades and refuses to be fixed.
It's incredibly frustrating. Someone just make it work with minimal BS, as he has done before.
I realize, this is a follow up very, very late, but apparently the problem has something to do with the 32-bit version of Windows 7 running. I recently installed the 64 bit version and now have no problem with any HP software.
Well, except that sometimes he asked my permission to do an update then fails to actually download the update (I get the same "could not connect to content url" error message that many others reported here).
Other than that, which is slightly annoying, but doesn't really affect what anyone, everything works fine now.

IJ Scanner Utility will print but not scan from iMac
I have used this gun for more than a year Mx920 - no problem. Had a paper jam. Erased. Can always print and copy. But when you try to scan the computer, I have the error 2.156.0 Jet "scanner is off or usb is not connected".
Re-downloaded and installed the drivers. Once I installed the drivers 'successfully', I can't find where to use it.

Try to launch the Image Capture. In the left pane, the Canon MX920 should show under the shared section.

HP ENVY 5530 e-all-in-one: HP ENVY 5530 e-all-in-one will print but not scan
The material (both print & scan) worked well on OS 10.10.x but as soon as I xfr needed a MBP less 10.11.4 it stopped scanning through the HP software, but will work under Mac software scan. (The side of the printer still works fine.)
Hi @Mrkil1o1,
Welcome to the HP Forums! I'd love to help you to scan from your 5530 craving for your Mac. I understand from your description that it worked well when you have 10.10, but since the upgrade to 10.11 you can print but not scan.
Let's start with resetting the printing system, uninstalling the software, repair the permissions of the drive and re - install & re-add the printer:

I've updated to Windows 10 and since then I can print but not scan with my HP 2210 all-in-one printer. I tried to download the software updates, but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions
I see that you both scan problems after upgrade to Windows 10, and I may be able to help.
Most of the products have updated software available on the HP support Web site for Windows 10.
I also saw a few posts that say Windows 8.1 driver works for Windows 10 as well, then you could try also.
HP provides a free tool called HP Print and Scan doctor to diagnose and troubleshoot printing and scanning problems. I recommend you to download and run the HP print and Scan Doctor , if she doesn't fix it automatically I would know what errors or messages that you receive.

I recently updated my windows 8.0 to 8.1 Dell desktop and my 6380 photosomart would not work. I downloaded the updated driver, and the installer hangs on "rotating disc icon" who then disappears. It seems that the print function has been installed, but the printer doesn't scan. Multiple level 4 uninstalls, restarts as well as disabling the firewall during installation; I can print but not scan. I know that the printer works fine I can scan my laptop.
Hello there jcartmell,
If you are still having the problem with the installation of your printer on your system Windows 8.1, I would try to help out. I read your post and saw that you tried several level 4 uninstalls and still have the same problem installing. I'll post you a few of my recommendations.
- First of all, I would recommend a clean boot. How to make a boot in Windows (click on Windows 8.1 and follow the steps).
- After you restart the computer from the boot, complete an uninstall of level 4, you have done previously.
- When the computer restarts after uninstalling, reinstalling the software: series all-in-one printer, HP Photosmart C6300/6324 full feature software and driver
- Afterwards, return to the clean boot procedure to activate the disabled services.
I hope this helps!
All the best,

Greetings,
OfficeJet 4500 g510n wireless, windows 8, readiris pro 14.
OCR, scanning works fine using the ocr software supplied with the cd printers.
Readiris is no Twain especially for the 4500 but has "hp twain others."
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the TWO printing software and the readiris program
Readiris refuses to recognize my printer "failed to open the default Twain source" and "the scanner is not responding.
Readiris support has not responded to my request sent 5 days ago - makes me wonder if their software is the same as their 'support' - pretty useless!
any suggestions please
Concerning
The way I understand it, readiris works that on HP scanners or all-in-One printers offer no OCR software. He added this feature for scanners and printers who have not already. As the 4500 has already built an OCR software, readiris software will not work. I'm not 100% certain about it, as I've only dealt with the OCR of HP software, but what I've read, that's my understanding.

Hello Citimba,
On the main screen on the printer, press return, cancel, back, back button successively. You see Help menu, press the ok button, then use top / down arrow button to find the menu reset, reset complete semi selection and press the ok button.
It's troubleshooting last step which I recommend. If this does not solve your problem unfortunately you will need to replace the printer.
Say thank you by clicking on the Bravo thumb upwards in the post.
If my post to fix your problem please mark it as an acceptable Solution -
Wireless printer will print but not scan
I have a HP C309g printer. It has worked fine for a few months. Now it WILL print, but not an analysis. If I try to scan from the printer he says 'try the scan of the computer', when I try to start the scan of my computer it says "scanner inaccessible."
Details of my system and what I've tried:
Printer wireless
Windows 7 64 bit
Network does not work properly
Have restarted, computer and printer
Have reinstalled the printer
Installing updates
Lance HP Print & Scan doctor - says it can't find printer, even though it may find our other two printers
Thanks for the advice, even though none of them solved the problem so I tried to uninstall the printer again and this time I used the HP on the web site, re - install wizard install the printer. The scanner works now!
Thanks again for the response.
