HP OfficeJet 4550 problem on WINDOWS 8

I just upgraded my desktop computer for Windows 8 and boredom become my HP Officejet j4550 to work.  I have gone through all of the uninstall and install troubleshooting instructions so many times that I must meet the definition of crazy at this point.  The printer was working fine before I upgraded so I think that there is something on the installation of new drivers which is problematic.  Some forums are useful in that they push me a different direction that I can try.  Before I waste any more time on this, I want to make sure I have a good plan and a few questions.

Question 1: I have my CD and it won't work.  It seems that I need to change the setting on my software and I can follow the instructions on this forum for the CD to run automatically but wonder if it's essential to get printing to work.  I fear that using a CD that was produced before the release of Windows 8 would be problematic.

Question 2: Is it better to download 32-bit or the 64-bit version.   I have a 64-bit computer and have been software download for 64 bit.  However, when I upgraded my Microsoft Office suite, suggested Microsoft get the 32-bit desktop software to avoid conflicts.  32-bit would be a good idea here, too?  If I downloaded 32 bit, the software would not work?

Question 3: A single posted statement said to run the uninstall utility #4.  The link has only three utilities but the third proposed that runs the utility 4 times to completely remove the software.  Is the suggestion, i.e., run the utility 3 to 4 times, or is there another utility that is the appropriate to run.

Question 4: The link includes a version for IT professionals only, but also the regular complete element.  The professional version of COMPUTING would not be better to download.

Question 5: I have another HP printer and it seems to be running slow, but at least it works.  Is there a way to correct the 4500 without messing up the 4200?  I have two printer hooked to the same computer because I had so many problems with them, I twice also good chance of a job.  Maybe this isn't a good strategy and I should plug the 4200 to another computer.

Thanks for any help you can provide on this.

Since the installation troubleshooting has been blocked, I restarted the computer and it was restarted with the USB cable connected - just to see what would happen.  I checked the Device Manager to see if the 4550 has been installed and it has been.  I tested it on printing and scanning, and it worked.  So, something on your solution worked.  Thank you very much.

  • TWAIN with Officejet 6700 problem - cannot open TWAIN device default

I'm having a problem with my online banking application to open default device TWAIN (Officejet 6700 Premium) to allow a check I want to file online scan. The application installs an add-on Internet Explorer called EZTwainX by Dosadi (version 1.64b7). However, when I click on the scan button to scan the front of the cheque, I get a message "Cannot open default peripheral TWAIN".  Any help to fix this would be appreciated.

My computer is a Dell 530 running Windows 7 64 - bit OS (recently installed).

Internet Explorer 11 (version 11.0.9600.17041). I guess IE is 32-bit position where he doesn't explicitly say 64-bit in Help - about Internet Explorer.

HP Officejet 6700 Premium also recently installed in Win7 64-bit environment.

Note: Before the recent installs above I not had this problem on Windows XP SP3 using the HP Photosmart C7280 AIO printer.

On a hunch, I decided to download Java again. He said that I had already installed the latest version but I re-installed anywaye I did it, I am now able to file online using the TWAIN of Java Applet. My TWAIN problem seems to be solved with the resettlement of Java SE Runtime Environment 7 update 55 (32 bit).

According to the specifications of the laptop it came with WIN7 64 BITS HOME PREMIUM so the best thing you can do is to install the original recovery image that you got with your laptop and everything should be ok.

  • OfficeJet 6480: duplex in windows 10 has lost

Computer previous laptop had hardrive failure. Bought a new laptop and installed windows 10. Then the HP site to install the driver after having checked the compatibility with windows 10. Everything seems to work fine, except that I lost the ability to select Auto duplex printing. I checked back and tried OS troubleshooting suggestions recommended, and they do not work for this problem in windows 10. Suggestions? Thank you

The function "automatic detection" used by some drivers during installation does not always; make sure the driver knows that a duplex unit is present on the printer (assuming that one is):

    • For the instance of the printer in question, bring up the printer properties dialogue.
    • Select the device settings tab.
    • Make sure the duplex unit is set to installed and not installed.

You will probably need to be logged in with administrator credentials in order to change the settings of the device.

    Hello

    1. is this a problem with only on this game on facebook?
2 are you able to access other videos and games on facebook?
    3. what internet browser do you use?

If you use Internet Explorer you can see the steps below.

    Method 1.
Given that most of the games requires the Java runtime library or Adobe flash to work I suggest you to install the Java runtime library on Internet Explorer and Adobe Flash Player.
    a. Update Flash player and Java Flash:
I recommend you update Adobe flash player on the website below:
    http://get.Adobe.com/flashplayer/
    b. also download and install the library Java Runtime from the link below:
    https://www.Java.com/en/

    Method 2.
    a. If the problem persists, you can optimize Internet Explorer.
See the link below for more information.
    How to optimize Internet Explorer?

    b. If nothing works to solve the issue try reset Internet Explorer.
    How to reset Internet explorer:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/923737
Note: After resetting Internet explorer you will need to install Java runtime library and Adobe flash again.
    WARNING:
Please note that reset the settings of Internet Explorer running resets all of the settings defined by the user, including those established by the installed extensions, toolbars and other add-ons for IE by default. This includes all the security, privacy and settings area. Also this will erase browsing history, delete all temporary Internet, cookies, form data files and especially all the passwords.

    I hope this helps.

  • Problems after Windows Update on Vista wireless

It seems that other people have a similar problem, but I'll post this new...
I've been running Windows Vista Ultimate on my Toshiba laptop for years without any problems.  Earlier this year, I started seeing issues after Windows updates.  The main problem is that after updates Windows, my wireless network is is more noticed and the wireless card (which was installed on the computer, and never had problems before) is not recognized.  I manually installed updated drivers with no luck.  The only thing that has worked is to do a system restore to a point before the updates.  The problem seems to be related to an update in general, I can't uninstall.

I find it extremely ironic that I have no problems with Vista until Windows 7 is launched. First of all, it's the wireless card, then a problem with a driver graphics card (apparently... which seems to be fixed now) and return to the wireless card.  Should I expect to continue to have problems unless I upgrade to Windows 7?  I can't continue to spend half of my day trying to fix my computer after an update that is supposed to fix the errors, but I don't like the feeling that I am forced to upgrade.

    Hi dabaum77,

From your post, it seems that the issue was occurring when Windows updates are installed automatically again even after the restoration of the system and that is why I suggest to restore the system again to a point before the updates and download and install Windows updates manually.

    Access the link below
Follow these steps to disable the automatic updates:

    1. open Windows Update by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type Update, and then in the list of results, click Windows Update.
    2. in the left pane, click on change settings.
    3. under important updates, choose the option you want.
    4. under recommended updates, select the Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates check box, and then click OK. Need administrator permission if you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Install the updates one by one and check the update is causing the problem to occur. If the problem persists due to a particular update, repeat the process and refrain from settling the problem causing the update to.

You can also check the update problem in Windows Update history.

Follow the steps to check which day caused the issue:

    1. open the control panel (all items view), and click the Windows Update icon.

    2. click on the link to view update history.

    3. to view the details of a single Windows Update-
    (A) select and right-click on a Windows Update list, and then click details.

    (B) click on close when finished.

You can also uninstall the update that is causing the problem to occur, although it is not recommended.

    1. to uninstall a Windows Update, you must go to programs and features. There are several ways to find it. One of the simplest is to use the search box on the start menu.

    2. in the programs and features, click the link updates installed.

    3. after a few seconds, Windows Vista will load the list of installed updates. Scroll down the page until you find the update you want to delete, select it with the mouse and then click on uninstall.

    4. Windows Vista will ask you to confirm that you want to uninstall the update you selected. Click Yes and the uninstall process will begin.

5 depending on the size of the update, the uninstall process may take from several seconds to several minutes.

    6. wait for the window above will disappear and, if necessary, restart your PC. The update is now deleted.
