HP Officejet 6500 E709n: HP Officejet 6500 E709n - ink system failure error message.

I have a printer HP Officejet 6500 E709n.  I get the following error message when I turn on the printer:

'Ink system failure.  "Please turn printer off, then on.

I then do as instructed and turn the printer off, but then the whenever I re - turn on the printer, I get the same error again.  The printer is now fixed to the top and none of the buttons on the printer works except the Power button on / off.

Any suggestions on how to proceed?

Hi @recooke,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! I see that you can not use your HP Officejet 6500 Wireless. You get a printer fault to "turn printer off and then on again" you did without success.

Please perform a hard reset:

1. disconnect all cables and cards of memory in the printer.  Unplug the power cord, directly from the back of the printer when the printer is still on.

2. unplug the other end of the power cord.

3. If there is a power supply on the power cord, disconnect one end and reconnect it.

4. at the end of 60 seconds, plug it directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector or battery backup).

5. connect the power cord to the back of the printer.

6. the printer should automatically power back upward.  If not, turn it on with the power button.

7. try to make a photocopy (if your printer is an all-in one) before you connect the cables from the printer.

8. connect the other cables needed to the printer.

It is recommended that the printer is plugged directly into a wall socket to ensure a uniform level of power.  Sometimes, when plugged into a surge protector or battery backup, the quantity of electricity is not received by the printer.  Power problems can cause printing problems.  It is particularly important to be plugged directly into a wall outlet with wireless connectivity problems, "sleep mode" and other power problems.

Any change?

If you still see the error, please check your Inbox. I sent you a private message on the Forums.

  • HP Officejet 6500 e709a: ink system failure

I just ordered a new print head due to the failure of the error ink system I get is after exhausting all other avenues that HP offered the extent of troubleshooting.  How HP can justify pricing $75.00 for a printhead on a printer that sells for $150.00 is beyond me, but this is neither here nor there.

My question is this: is it possible to use other functions (scanning, fax) while I wait for the part to arrive?  This is a printer of business and these functions are essential for operations on the day the day.  Beings it is Saturday may save some of the headaches.

    Hello @MattNC79 ,

    I hope you are well!

If the printer is in an error state, like her application the print head must be installed, or there is another message that has the printer, you probably won't be able to perform all the other functions. The best thing to do is try to do what you want to do and see if it works.

Hi CHCA. Your Officejet 6500 must be out of warranty? You can doublecheck the warranty status of your printer here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/weInput?cc=ie & lc = on -if it is still under warranty, you should not pay for a new printheaad.

But if your printer is no longer under warranty, you buy one a. The part that you really need to order an Officejet 6500, is CN643A. If you are in the United States, here are the HP part store page where you can order the new print head Assembly: http://h20141.www2.hp.com/HPPARTS/Search_Results.aspx?mscssid=C580393F30964EDD82B16A5C641BEC41 & Searchin' PartNumber = & SearchPN = CN643A

  • ink system failure officejet 6500

make system failure ink on officejet 6500, changed the cartridges, activated and deactivated

I am writing to everyone affected by a FAILURE of the SYSTEM of INK message.  I use a 6500 and my wife has a wide 7500 a carrige. The 7500 had an ink system failure. I tried everthing recommended with no luck.  My wife needs a printer to work more than I do, I went to get out them.  Given that the power supplies are the same I have left in place.  Guess what?  The 6500 came with an ink SYSTEM FAILURE as soon as it was powered by the power of 7500.  I changed the power supply and everything works fine.  I tested the 7500 on feeding of 6500 and no ink system failure more.   I have not measured the voltage on the power supply that seems to cause the ink system failure, but I recommend you try a new power supply before you buy a new print head.  Check ebay and amazon for a nice price.

    Hope this helps someone else.

  • OfficeJet 6300 all-in-One, the error message which is print cartridge is open

I use my all-in-one HP Officejet 6300 as a standalone Copier, because he's too old to install it on my Windows 7. Now, I get the error message that the print cartridge door is open. I can't find any door open but can not use the machine until I get rid of this message.

I solved my problem by placing a heavy book on top of the printer. Apparaently, something is a little out of place and the book guard door is closed properly. Not a very technical solution, but it worked for me

  • OfficeJet 8600 more - will not install - error message "carriage jam".

I'm unable to install a new printer of all-in-one OfficeJet 8600 Plus.  I was running through the installation routine when it hit a barrier, that it cannot go beyond.  I got the "Carriage jam" error message on the printer screen.  I ran through HP Web sites and found one on the point: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02919171

I did everything that the foregoing asked.  I pulled the cart holding the ink cartridges and put again.  I 'reinstalled' of the carridge another 3 times, and the third time, instead of seeign 'Transport Jam' once again, the machine began to re-start, but then got stuck on a new screen, that says 'printer preparation', with the logo of HP that swirled around, stating that it was ongoing.  He spent forever, and when I tried to turn it off, it wouldn't let me, so I pulled the plug.  When I plugged in again, I was back to "Carriage Jam".   What can I do else?

The guy at Office Depot said to bring it back, and he would exchange for a new (I bought it today).  I guess I will, if anyone has a better idea. Thank you.

    Hi Ismellwabbit,

Sorry to hear that you are having problems.

I totally agree with the guy from Office depot. If you are having problems on the first day, I strongly suggest that make you it

take it to a new. Don't waste your time trying to fix it because you may have a defective product.

These things happen because of several reasons that could happen anywhere bewteen from production to delivery.

I hope this helps! Sorry you had a bad first experience. Totally been there myself and I know how that feels.

  • HP Officejet 6600 e-all-in-one printer - H711a/H711g 'Ink system failure', will not print computer

At first, it was just a problem with do not print from the computer.  Error messages had to do with the failure of the print head or do not find print head, etc..  After going through several different controls online, download the scans, etc., it does not at all, print showing an error message "ink system failure".  I tried to remove and reinsert the 4 printheads (black 932, 933 colors) and turning market and check the caps and unplug the power.  Since this is a wireless network, I can't unplug the USB.  It was the OK signal.  Now, with this error message, I don't see the home screen printer controls.  It just says: put it on and then contact HP.  Help, please.  Very frustrated (it didn't happen all at once - a first he wouldn't print from the computer sometimes, other times.)

  • OfficeJet 6600: Paper jam resulted in ink system failure

Paper jam resulted in the failure of the inkjet system. Error 0 x 61000016 is reported.

I tried troubleshooting basic procedures, but the track of the cartridge seems to be poorly aligned, that is, when I opened the door, only the black cartridge is available. This is definitely not normal.

The above error messages persist after stopping and restarting. Replace cartridges results in the same error.

The jam massive caused many, many problems. I had to fish out bits and bits of paper of all nooks and crannies.

Too boot, when it was all cleared up I had to cold start the printer, remove and reinstall all the cartridges (because the printer is no longer recognized an any of them) and go through a three step routine cleaning print head.

    Very messy.

But the good news is that everything is all right work

My next gripe is about the ongong with cartridges properly filled with Staples, Costco, and al that so-called re - define the chip in the cartridges.

    That never works.

The result is that the printer does not recognize an original HP cartridge when it is filled again and then starts the everlong question when a cartridge is empty actually.

Of course, I know when a cartridge is empty, it weighs about 19 grams.

But we should not do that math.

I understand that HP would love everyone to buy their cartridges, but they cost way too new.

Seems average spririted. I could be wrong, but we are all in this together.

The ink is ink. I think HP should be a little more forgiving for us "little guys" who need to pinch pennies.

    Just saying '

    Rainman

P.S.: And Yes, I agree the continuous message on 'counterfeit cartridges' when I plug a Costco filled HP cartridge. They are not counterfeit, they are actual filled HP cartridges of actual real RGB ink! And, of course, I accept the responsibility addressed by the messages of ad nauseam when I insert these original re-filled HP cartridges. They seem to work well. Perhaps there could be a happy medium where HP could give a little and the moniter ink levels. Of course, I can continue to weigh the cartridges when the print head cleaning routine fails to get good results. But again, HP should be a little more friendly and less motivated in this respect of profit.

But having said that, the disorder shoot works great, and I appreciate it!
