HP OfficeJet Pro 6830 constantly go 'offline' and cannot print

Hello world.

I love my HP OfficeJet Pro 6830. It does everything I need a printer / scanner but it is one of the aspects that are really starting to annoy me and my family (i.e. my WIFE!) - he continues to go 'Offline '.

I understand perfectly that it needs/desires to go to save mode, when I'm not using it or have not used for some time, but for now, every time I have seem to need to use it (after I have not used for some time) of energy, it is listed as 'offline' and the only way I can print is stepping on him , turn off, turn it back on, wait a while so it connects to my WiFi network and then have another go. Then it works... and prints the other five copies of the document that my eager family tried to print!

"HP print and Scan Doctor" said he of just nothing wrong and just suggest just uninstall and reinstall. I already tried and it changed nothing. Same problem with Windows 7 and 8.1. It will print a page of 'internal' test, but not via Windows test page.

I also tried to restart the spoler and checked the 'File and Printer sharing' settings, the firewall settings and looked at the network discovery and run various windows troubleshooting tools without result. Nothing works, but the HP Officejet Pro 6830 software can see / communicate with him! It's so frustrating.

Someone at - it ideas? This really, REALLY boring. Thanks in advance to anyone who donated their time to help me.

Regards,

Steve.

    Hi @mhgrobler,

  • Remote printer in homegroup sees the printer as "offline" and cannot print.

I created a homegroup with two computers portable win7, a connected via ethernet to the router and other work wireless. The HP Deskjet 4280 printer is connected via USB cable to a USB hub that is connected to the portable computer that is connected to the router. The wired computer is able to see the printer as 'online' and is able to print. Wireless laptop sees the printer, but shows like 'offline' envisaged in its control panel. It can send jobs to the printer and they appear in the queue, but will not print. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Problem solved. When the hard drive is dead and has been replaced in the laptop computer attached to the printer, the name was changed by technology. Therefore, the default printer will appear in the info from the control panel of the laptop wireless was labeled with the old name. Once the printer with the correct name affiliation has been defined as the default, print jobs went as they should. Thanks to everyone who checked on this for me.

  • Printer HP Officejet Pro 6830: OS 10.6.8 and Officejet Pro 6830

I just bought a HP all-in-one Officejet 6830 Pro printer, fax, scanner, copier.  I connected it to my laptop, a MacBook Pro OS 10.6.8.  It copy in color, but it will not print from a file in color.  He apparently correctly scan in color, but not to print the scanned in color.  How to print in color?  I can't upgrade my system because I will not be able to access critical software.  What recourse do I have?  When I bought it was incompatible with some operating systems, there is no warning!

    Hey @cshein,

Welcome to the Forum from HP Support.

I understand that you encounter an incompatibility between your old version of Mac OS and your new HP Officejet Pro 6830 e-all-in-one printer.  I would like to help.  I can certainly sympathize with you on this one - even if your Mac is not old in real terms, Snow Leopard not blessed with a specific driver for your printer.  I have a workaround that you can try:

The steps I posted in another thread here suggest using the generic PCL driver for the Mac.  This thread is about a former printer used with Yosemite, this article indicates that the similarities between the latest version of Mac and Snow Leopard are close enough to my advice work with your devices.  Let me know if this approach to configuration works and allows you to print in color.

Note that the generic PCL printer driver probably won't make you analyze the features of the computer.  If you want to scan without using HP software, click here to get suggestions from HP on how to do it.  Note that this article 10.7 Mac users - oriented steps must always be relevant as Apple Preview, picture Capture and printing and scanning app are all common Mac OS applications that probably are Aussies in versions older Mac OS.

Please let me know the result of your troubleshooting by responding to this post.  If I helped you to solve the problem, feel free to say "You rock!" by clicking the "Thumbs Up" icon below and by clicking to accept this solution.

  • OfficeJet Pro 6830: replaced warranty for printer and cartridges of manipulation

My Officejet Pro 6830 AiO printer doesn't have 3 months after purchase (power supply is ok, but it no longer lights). I contacted HP support and a replacement printer is on the way.
Unfortunately I replaced all ink cartridges 'setup' 4 with brand new just a few days before the failure of the printer, so I asked the Lady to support (good person) if and how I can recover the defective device.
She told me to take off the cartridges of the faulty unit and retain them for the replacement printer, but was to serve once the "setup" cartridges sent with the unit will be out of ink.

    Now, I have some doubts:

    (1) when I take my full semi the defective printer cartridges, I fear that the ink will start to dry... should I cover the opening at the bottom of the cartridges with tape? Will it be enough?

    (2) the ink in the printhead of the defective unit will start to get dry as well. The defect of the device is clearly in electronics, while the print head has worked perfectly. Isn't bad to leave the print head is clogged by dry ink? I still have empty cartridges "setup" out (differentiation 'stock' of waste...) should I put them on the print head?

    (3) the defective printer does not turn so to loosen its cartridges, I need to manually pull the cart of the printhead to the center position. Is it Ok?

Thanks to all those who will clear this point to me.

    Hi @RickyGold,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I see that you have questions about your printer HP Officejet Pro 6830. I am happy to answer these questions for you!

    To answer your questions:

    1. To properly store the cartridges, I suggest you put them in an airtight container, such as a ziplock bag or Tupperware. Make sure that the contacts on the cartridges are not touch anything.
    2. I wouldn't worry about the obstruction with the defective printer printhead.
    3. I suggest to try to move the cartridge door manually, but don't force it, if it will not move freely. If you are unable to get the cartridges, please contact HPtelephone support for further assistance. As they would be able to replace the cartridges for you. (After you fill out the information, you will receive a phone number.) If you do not live in the United States / Canada region, please click the link below to get help from your region number. • HP Officejet Pro 6830: How can I set up my printer to print only in black and white?

    Hello
I was wondering if someone can help me. I want to be able to print in black just on my printer.

My printer is a HP Officejet Pro 6830, and my operating system is Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite.

I don't have an option on my Word program which allows me to 'gray levels' or any type of color option.

Any help would be great, thank you in advance!

    Hello
Follow the steps below to print using black ink only:

    1. from the application used to print, click the file menu and select print. The print window is displayed.
NOTE: The print window might be minimized: click Show details to display all available parameters.

    2. to access the color options, click in the area of selection below, listed as the name of the program (e.g. TextEdit)
Will appear as Copies & Pages within Microsoft Office applications.

    3. Select Type/quality paper in the menu dropdown.

    4. click the triangle next to color Options of spending parameters.

    5. set the color to grayscale field.

    6. set the Mode to grayscale in black cartridge only.

You can save the settings for later use by clicking preset > save current settings as preset.

A used preset will be default, so simply select the standard preset to print in color.

  • OfficeJet Pro 6830: Printer several times in the process of disappearance

I keep having trouble with my printer. It worked fine for a few weeks, when I first bought, and then it suddenly stopped to record with my mac, despite being connected via USB.

The first two times, as it happened, I spent a LOT of time searching through your forums, find an answer later. I'm clearly not only the person with similar problems - don't know why you guys can just put up a page on this topic and facilitate the difficulty.

However, today I find no solutions. I don't have the technical knowledge to make things complicated and I am appauled that HP does not have a call center or lives the Charter for me - I saw the mention of these things, but I can't find where on your website that offers them. Maybe because I'm in Australia. HP has proved to be an extremely bad for making choices.

Why my printer don't suddenly ceases to be detected? I had an old printer old until I upgraded that NEVER had this problem. Please tell me how to solve this problem. (and band not only help, but stop to happen). I rely on this printer, every day and every time it disappears, I lose a lot of time trying to get connected again.

  • HP Officejet Pro 6830: HP Officejet Pro 6830 fails to print color

My HP Officejet Pro 6830 stopped printing in color.  All cartridges are new HP cartridges.  I took all those out and reinstalled them but even that prints black.  I have done a clean print head and alignment but still only prints black.  I went online and downloaded all of the software for this printer and still only black print.  Any ideas how to solve this problem?

I have another 3 months on my warranty.

  • HP Officejet Pro 6830: Receive faxes with a HP officejet pro 6830 w / answering machine

I had an OLD officejet model that could receive faxes even if the answering machine was not connected directly to the fax machine the 6830 manual says that it must be directly connected.  My current Brother printer does NOT receive faxes because of this problem.  Anyone know if I directly connect my machine to this model (Officejet 6830) to make it work?  I won't buy it if it will not work.

    Hello @JPJ408,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you are looking to buy a printer all-in-one HP Officejet Pro 6830 for fax purposes. While the User Guide advise you to plug the answering machine directly on the back of the Officejet unit, it is not necessary.

If you have a fax with an answering machine on her line, the only requirement is that the fax is set to two rings higher than the answering machine. Most of the responders are put back on 4 rings. As a result, you would set your Officejet to automatically pick up on 6 rings. In this way, when a voice is heard, you can manually respond to the call before the answering machine to pick up. If you are not home and then people can still leave messages on your answering machine. If you have a fax to come through, do not respond. The answering machine will pick up after 4 rings. At this point the fax machine "listen" on answering machine message and if fax tones are detected, the fax will take over and receive the fax.

I hope this helps clear up any confusion.

  • HP Officejet Pro 6830 does not connect to WiFi

I got the HP Officejet Pro 6830 for 6 to 9 months, it has been great to work wireless any time.  Three nights ago, we had a power outage, now the printer will not connect to the wireless router.  He sees the SSID, but when I enter the password, it says that the password is incorrect.  I use an ARRIS Cable Modem.  Any suggestions?

    Hi @CWoodland ,

I see that you are having problems with the implementation of the network again for the printer, you receive a message that the password is incorrect. I would really like to be able to help solve this problem.

I would check the network on the Mac password, to verify that the password is entered.
How to find the password WEP or WPA key for your wireless network.

You may need to restore the default settings of the printer, and then try again.

Go to configuration, network configuration, restore the network settings.

Then run Wireless screen of the printer configuration wizard again.

Go to installation, configuration, wireless settings, the Wireless Setup Wizard.

If you need help, let me know.

    Have a great day!
    Thank you.

  • HP Officejet Pro 6830: HP Solution Center

It was time to replace my HP Officejet 6310 printer. I wanted to stay with the brand HP because I need to use the HP Solution Center software provided with the printer to manage all of my scan, print and fax. So, I bought the HP Officejet Pro 6830. This model does not include the HP Solution Center! It was rather the HP printer Assistant who does not have the features I need. I called HP to see which models have the HP Solution Center, but she says she does not have a list. And I can not find this software listed in the product description so that shopping for HP printers. Help, please! I need to buy a print-scan-fax HP device that has the HP Solution Center software. Here is a link to a previous HP Support Forum stating that the HP Solution Center software is not affiliated in any way with the Officejet Pro 6830 and can not detect the device of this model: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Install-Setup/HP6830-not-recognized-in-HP-Solution-C...

I called HP technical support. The HP Solution Center 'is no longer supported"all new models.

So here's what I can do is no longer with the HP printers:

    1. can't see up close the image I'm scanning. So, I can't crop accurately and make fine adjustments.

    2. granular scanning quality PDF. I scanned "line" or text in black and white mode and this is a resolution low resolution, despite the use of 300 dpi and brightness adjustment.

    3. limited to 300 dpi PDF.

    4. no characteristic clipping for scanning matrix photos in newspapers.

5 JPG limited to 1200 dpi (opportunity to Solution Center with 9600).

It seems that HP scanners provide only basic functionality. I'm go to Epson printers that use the Document Capture Pro Software and advanced features that HP has taken away from us.

  • OfficeJet Pro 6830: Officejet 6830 noise

Since the automatic last update (a few days ago), my printer started making a rhythmic whining sound (similar to an old dial-up modem) when it is in standby mode. The noise comes close the power supply to the back of the printer. Whenever the noise happens, it is accompanied by a twinkle of a yellow LED near the input power agreement.

I removed the power cable from the surge protector and plugged directly into the wall, but the problem persists. If I turn off the wireless feature, the noise changes pitch, but continues. The noise stops when the printer is turned on and working. I checked for new updates, but the printer tells me that all the current updates are in place.

I wish I had this going away, as being close to the printer (in my living room) is driving me crazy unless I unplug it.

Hi people, can you please try the latest firmware (published June 1) and let us know if that fixes the problem?
