HP Officejet Pro 8500 A910: Paper HP Officejet Pro 8500 jams when printing duplex

Get a jam when trying to duplex.  I did "turned off, pull the power cord, wait 15 seconds and reconnect"., the printer will print a recto verso and then jam again. Actually, this time he printed two duplex sheetys then stuck.

It works well until this problem.  Can't seem to fix it.

Paper size was not a problem.  However, after this printer started leaving the ink on printed documents more jam problem, I just dumped the printer and bought a new HP Office Jet Pro 8625. so this postoing can be liquidated.  If the new printer start blobbing or blocking, I'll look for another provider.  Until that point, I was satisfied with the HP printers.  Thanks for your reply.

  • Officejet J6480 carriage jams when printing wirelessly via the plugin from HP printing service

I try to print on my printer OfficeJet J6480 HP all-in-one to my Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 tablet that runs Android 4.4 Wireless using the "HP Print Service Plugin on the tablet.

    Measures already taken;

Sucessfully downloaded/installed the Service HP Print on shelf Plugin

Radio wireless to the printer and correctly configured to communicate with the router wirelessly activated successfully.

    Problem:

When you try to print something from the tablet to the wireless printer, the printer is trying to perform the print operation (flow paper in the printer from paper tray, shows 'Printing' on the printer screen), but then never made a real impression and gets a 'Transport Jam' indication on the printer screen.

When this occurs above, I opened the hood top, checked for jammed paper in the paper path (Nothing), did tension of printer many times, cycle of fact alignments cleanings and cartridge many times, changed the paper to different types of paper.

None of these actions corrected the problem...

I'll also add that when you perform the steps of printing with the radio wireless on off the printer and the cable connected to the printer, the printer functions normally when you print from my pc applications - no traffic jams. Also, the printer works normally when you perform a function 'copy' locally from the printer control panel - not roadways of jams.

I thought maybe an update of the firmware to the printer could solve this problem - ideas about this being a likely solution?

BTW - how you normally clear / would correct a cart-jam regardless of printing wirelessly or through an ethernet cable?

If the firmware update is not a solution, any comment on what could be the cause of the problem?

If an update is available, could you tell me how to do the upgrade and where can I download it from?

Thanks for all your comments... Denny

    E - rog,

Two things I wanted to first of all thank you a lot for the response to my original message concerning the problem of printing wirelessly to my printer HP J6480 of the Tablet, Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 via the Plugin of Service HP Print.

Secondly, I wanted to aplogize for the very long delay in responding to your... I had some health problems with a family member who prevented me to try your suggestions to the problem.

I am pleased to report that I managed to solve the problem... I am now able to print to the printer of the tablet.

A little history on the fix...

I tried to download and install the update of the firmware from the link you provided, while having the printer connected to the PC (Windows) computer via a USB connection, as you suggest. (It was initially connected through my home network, so I had to first uninstall, then reinstall via USB connection). When you try to install the downloaded firmware it failed, even after several attempts to re-downloading/reinstalling.

Instead, I uninstalled the printer again, reinstalled over the home network, downloaded the update of the firmware directly from the HP site by locating the printer model, then the firmware. This time the firmware successfully installed (was able to view the progress of installation of the firmware in the display on the front panel of the printer). Make the installation of the firmware with the printer installed on the network domestic (instead fo via USB), the installation process allowed me to search for the printer on the network - it found it successfully and successfully installed the firmware.

After this successful firmware installation and turn on the wireless radio on the printer (via the button on the front panel), I was able to print successfully from the tablet... YES!

Needless to say, there is no carriage jam messages as before... and I did not try your other suggestions to go to the HP article on carriage jam error States/solutions.

I am really gratefull for your response/suggestions...fixing this problem did the usefulness of my tablet to increase dramatically to have the ability to print... cudos to you for your efforts on this forum and a big "thumbs up" for your records.

  • Print Officejet 6000 occupies more of the page when printing duplex

My printer is set by default to duplex print. Whenever I use my 6000 Officejet to print two-sided document printing starts just below it should be at the bottom of this page which he finished much lower than when printing a single page (from the same document).

For example: if I choose to print a page only from multiple paged it document prints fine, exactly as displayed on the screen. However if I choose to print pages 1 and 2 then printing starts at about 5mm below printing and print finishing 15 mm below where it should be. There is no difference in the width of the impression.

    Hi @Porky007,

    Welcome to the HP forums!

I understand that you are having problems printing duplex and I will certainly do my best to help once I have gathered a little more information

    1. what version of Windows or Mac do you have?
    2. is the printer connected via USB or wireless?
    3. what program you print from? Have you tried another program?
4 what even happened if you disable duplex printing?
    5. He made it for all pages or just one?

Once I have that information I'll certainly look more in things for you!

In the meantime, if you are using Windows, please download and run the HP print and Scan Doctor and see if it can detect problems for you

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600: HP Officejet Pro 8600 cut header/footer when printing duplex

Hey guys, frustrating problem slowing of my work, appreciate anyone who takes the time to volunteer expertise.

Print single sided, my Word template prints very well. Select "print on both sides", "flip long edge ' and the footer no longer appears in the preview before printing (or printing) more the header is visible only half (and half printed).  Microsoft have no idea (when did ever right?).

    0.75 from the top header

    0.35 bottom footer

(NB. the two characters 100% on single-sided and about two weeks, both printed fine on double-sided also). Date: July 15, 2015

    Hello again @Matt_Roberts,

Thanks for getting back to me!

If you have been able to print double-sided with no problems before using the same printer and the computer, it is unlikely that the machine itself has suddenly become incapable.

What I think, is that it has something to do with the driver on your computer. Windows 8 has an annoying habit to install multiple instances of the driver for your printer. For example, even if you have installed the printer with the complete HP software, because the operating system can see the wireless printer, it can automatically install a driver from Windows update as well.

So here's what I suggest we try. Check your printer for several "HP Officejet 8600" icons file.

    1. From your desktop, right of slide to unlock bar charms, or press Win key + C on your keyboard.
    2. Select settings in the bar on the right.
    3. Select Control Panel
    4. Under hardware and sound, select devices and printers.

We will remove all software and start over. Right-click on each icon that you see for your 8600 (even if there is only one) and select the device you want to delete or remove.

Once the printer has been deleted. Restart your computer. Then, download and run the HP printer installation wizard. It will automatically detect your product and install the latest driver available from HP package.

    Hope this helps! Fingers crossed.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8620 will not print duplex

I use an iMac and OS X v10.10. I can print duplex when I'm on the web using Safari, but when I'm offline and want to print from Acrobat, Word, or Excel, I can't - there is no option for double-sided printing in the print dialog box. What gives?

    Hello
Please follow the steps below to automatically print double-sided print jobs:

Open the file used to print, and then click the file menu and select print. The print window is displayed.
NOTE: The print window might be minimized. Click Show details to see all the available parameters.

Open Adobe Reader print dialog box, then click the printer... button. the complete system shown print screen will allow other parameters such as printing duplex, bureau skip this step...

Click on the area of selection below, listed as the name of the program (e.g. TextEdit)
Will appear as Copies & Pages within Microsoft Office applications.

    Select layout from the drop-down.

Set the duplex option as the binding edge (Portrait) Long or short edge (landscape) bond.

You can save the settings for later use by clicking preset > save current settings as preset. By default, a used preset will remain until another preset will be used.

    I use a Hp Officejet 8600 (N911a) e-all-in-one model.

There should be an option in layout to "Flip on long edge" or "return on the short edge.  Change this setting to change the orientation of the back page.

If this does not resolve the problem that, please indicate what operting system you have and the number of exact model.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 a: printers print only after the new cartridges installed

Whenever I put in new cartridges I have problems with the print head alignment, then it usually printed.  This time, he was sitting with cartridges empty color for awhile and now it does not print at all.  I always use only the new HP cartridges.  It fails the alignment and the blue and yellow and sometimes the magenta show on the sheet alignment.  What is the print heads?  Why would I need to change them whenever I have to add ink cartridges new which makes no sense.  I have never changed them, but they worked very well until I added the new ink.

    Hey @janh1058,

Welcome to the Forum from HP Support.  I hope you enjoy your experience here.

I understand that e-all-in-one-HP Officejet Pro 8500 a your printer is printing is no longer.  I would like to work with you on this. I have a few suggestions that might restore your printing capabilities.

It could be that the long period of inactivity of dormancy has dried the print head, even if you have made the right choice in leaving the cartridges installed in the printer.  I recommend you try the following basic troubleshooting steps before embarking on a manual print head cleaning more intensive:

    • Click here and clean the printhead automatically via the front panel of the printer, as shown in the second Solution.
    • Repeat three times if you still have print quality issues.
    • Remove and reinsert the cartridges once more with the printer to force the printer to print a different allignment page.
    • This to improve the print quality?

If you use always the same question, I have a few more advanced troubleshooting tips:

  • Is it safe turn off an officejet pro 8500 a when not in service.

Is it safe turn off an officejet pro 8500 a when not in service. The electricity in my area off two or three times a day and every time that happens the printer begins once again reset. I'm afraid that whenever it cleans the printer heads is a waste of ink.

    Hi fernan215,

Yes, turn off your printer when not in use. A fluctuation of current or failure can cause more damage to your printer when it is still on. You are also right that the printer is cleaning the heads and align the cartridges every time it is turned on. This is to ensure stability, good maintenance and calibration of your inks for the best output every time.

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 a: unusual printing problem

When I click on the "print" button I get the following message: -.

Word cannot communicate with the printer

    There are several possible reasons:

    • There may not be enough memory available. Try closing files and programs you don't use.
    • Your printer or driver that maybe isn't setup correctly. You may need to adjust your printer settings.
    • If you use a network for printing there may be a problem with the network connection or the printer driver.
    • There may be loose cables or a bad connection between your computer and your printer.

    ---------------------------------------------------

If I click on 'Print' in the file menu drop-down I can send the document to the printer. (No Communication problem?)

When it reaches the printer it shows an error of: -.

'PAPER JAM' - "clear paper jam and then tap OK."

If I don't do anything but press 'OK' cycles a blank sheet of paper through the printer then prints my document!

I am confused about if I have one or two problems and would appreciate any help anyone could offer.

    Hey there @Monners!

Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

I see you have a little a problem of confusion when printing from your MS Word documents.  The best way to check the hardware of the printer in order to ensure that it works properly is to make a copy of photo stand alone.  If the printer is able to copy with giving a paper jam problem then the material is OK and you are probably looking to a software problem.

If your persistent paper jam issue during a photo copy follow this document:

  • HP Officejet Pro 8620: Selection easy printing on tray 1 or 2

We have an Officejet Pro 8620 with extra paper tray. Tray 1 for Virgin paper, tray 2 for the paper with the logo of the company.

Now, when we want to print to tray 2, we reject Tray 1, whereas, after a few attempts the software switches to tray 2 and printing begins.

It is possible, before printing, to change the setting in the software, select printing for tray 2. But it's pretty heavy.

We want an easy way to select printing for Tray 1 or the tiroir2. For example, as seen in other environments, so that we can choose to print on:

-HP Officejet Pro 8620 (Tray 1) or

-HP Officejet Pro 8620 (tray 2)

This could be seen as a separate printers. How can we achieve this?

Change the setting every time, is not a good option. In addition, we have other software that we want to configure so that they automatically print to the correct bin.
