HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911a - vertical line using ADF

I have a problem with a black vertical line on the right side of scans/copies when I use the ADF. There is no problem if I use the Board.

There are a number of similar messages here and I tried all the solutions I could find including:

Cleaining each wheel and sproket I can find (several times)

Clean the glass (several times)

Unplug the printer on, several minutes of waiting and reconnection (several times)

Unplug the unit as described above and by using a different wall outlet with any other equipment on the line

The pilot of uninstalling and reinstalling

Update the firmware to the lates version (March 21, 2013)

None of this works and I get the result below.  The one you have any other ideas?

.

When you clean the glass, you did clean the small strip of glass on the left and the thin white on the top lid?  These are the sections of the scanner glass used by the ADF.

If so, then I have some information for a factory reset in the Officejet Pro 8600.  I will send this information to you in a private message.  Please read Bob_Headrick wire on the printer reset, found here, before you perform these steps.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus: vertical line when scanning

I get a vertical line when I scan using the document feeder.  I do not understand when scanning the glass plate. I need assistance to access the mirror slider.  I raised the lid for the loading of documents, but I couldn't find out how to get under the rollers to clean the mirror. Thank you

The document here can help solve the black lines to scan using the ADF on your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus.  From my experience this is almost always caused by a specification on the thin glass on the side left which is used for scanning using the ADF.  Cleaning of this area as described in the above document should solve the problem.  If the initial cleanup does not resolve the problem, it can help to shine a bright flashlight almost parallel to the glass.  For a line on the left side of the printed page, the place will be toward the front of the printer, if the line is on the right side of the document, it must correspond to a specification to the rear of the printer.

  • OfficeJet pro 8600 black vertical lines of print when copying

I got a new of OfficeJet Pro 8600 a couple of weeks, and it worked fine until today, when I tried to copy something. I can always print from my pc and scan without problem, but when I try to copy a document (if I load it into the tray or put it on the scanner) the page comes out covered with black vertical lines of different sizes. It seems that this isn't the ink or the scanner since I can print from my pc and analysis very well.

    Help, please!

This unit is plugged into a wall outlet directly? If this isn't the case, then try to connect the unit to a wall outlet directly.

The 8600 Officejet Pro has built in the surge protector and double this feature may cause some problems.

Also, try to reset the printer hard:
    * Unplug the unit while the printer is on
Disconnect the other end of the power cable from the wall socket direct
    * Wait 30 seconds
    * Plug the unit to the top

Let me know if it helps.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600: Printing vertical lines when you use doc auto power

I cleaned the optical window such as suggested in other posts. However, this has not fixed the problem for me.

The vertical line is the center of the page, from top to bottom.

    Hello @KR76,

I'd be happy to help you with your problem of copy on your OfficeJet Pro line 8600.

Basically, the line is created if any part of the scanner glass and the scanner cover fingerprints fingerprints, stains, lint, dust, or other debris or scratches. To resolve this problem, clean the ADF scanner glass Strip, the ADF white plastic band on the underside of the scanner cover, the underside of the scanner cover and the scanner glass. You need to repeat the cleaning several times to fix this.

The document that will guide you through the inspection and cleaning of these independent pieces would be; Vertical stripes, lines or streaks in the Copies, faxes, or scans.

    Take note of the following in the document;

Warning: Only use a glass cleaner to clean the scanner glass. Don't use of cleaners containing abrasives, acetone, benzene, or carbon tetrachloride. These substances can damage the printer. Avoid alcohol isopropyl (rubbing alcohol) because it can leave scratches on the glass.

Warning: To protect the scanner are not spray the glass product directly on the glass.

Please let me know if any of these steps has resolved your problem, or if there is anything else I can do to help.

I look forward to hear from you!

    Thank you

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 many verticle lines using 'Black' but color OK

I just bought a new 8600 Pro Officejet and found if I scan or copy of a document using 'Black' copy resulting or image (PDF) a lot of black vertical lines across the whole page.  It is not uniform, and the resulting image is unreadable.  But if I choose "Color" then all is well.

It is with the ADF and the bed.  Has anyone had this before?

My problem has been resolved by updating the firmware.  Seems that there is a defect in the earlier versions of the firmware that caused the problem.

You can get the latest firmware in the support section of the HP web site.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600: Thin vertical lines when printing photos

The printer referenced did a fabulous job to print photographs.  In this case, the printer is fairly recent and has recently recently consumed the original cartridges when it was decided to try to use it for photo printing.  Therefore, the fabulous results were extracted relatively new cartridges and consisted of at least a dozen photo printing in various sizes.  Then all of a sudden these thin vertical straight lines began to appear in print.  They are equidistant on the full image.  That they appear in the printed image.  When using paper letter (8.5 x 11) to print an image cropped at 8 x 10 with landscape orientation spacing is about 1 1/8 (one and one-eighth) inches or 8 evenly spaced vertical lines.  Somewhat like the photo was divided into 8 columns.

According to the printer built in ink gauge, that the cartridges are now just a little more than half full.

These lines are narrow enough so that they are not very visible when printing on normal paper (copy).  They would probably be imperceptible on many kinds of printed documents.  However, they become quite noticeable and reprehensible when using good quality (in this case HP) photo paper to print photos.

Absence of a printer resolution is not good for photo printing.

In addition to the troubleshooting suggests that the problem is not due to the printer, but rather to the software used to perform the printing. It was not immediately obvious that I printed only photos using Picasa and it worked fine and then all of a sudden the problem developed. However, I have now tried to print the same photos with other software and there is no problem for the steps.

The Picasa forum also has many messages wanting to be the same or a similar problem to what I have experienced. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be an explanation for a repeatable cause, nor a specific solution. Some hacking autour with the settings and options seems to be in order. If it does not then print with other software may be necessary.

    Hi Socaloeo,

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8600-N911a: connectivity issue - used to work fine, now no connection most often

Just noticed over the last few days.  Had installed Kaspersky Internet Essensials for Mac 2016 on my iMac, a week or two and thought that may be the cause of the problem.  So I disabled Kaspersky for several hours and it made no difference where the connection to the printer.  Interesting thing is that the printer shows every evidence of being connected: Wireless indicator is turned on, run the connectivity test and it passed with flying colors.  But when I get to the top of the State of the printer Mac preferences (what etc.), it is said generally 'non connected' if I turn the printer power off and on again, then use the HP printer utility, it will be good for a short period and then loses connectivity again.  Also, when I hit the "Print" button to print something from my imac, the task appears in Quebec, but when I do the same thing of Chromebook my wife, it is not even to get to the what.  Am using Safari as the default browser, a WiFi with Hello.  Help!

    Bob.m

Many, Gemini02, thanks for your help.  Reason why I did not respond earlier was simply that it took quite some time to go through all the troubleshooting steps that you suggested.  Went through all the 1 section without success, although this point begins to think that the problem might not be with the printer, ther as much as possible on my Mac, HP, or Apple printing software - wasn't sure which.  Because the indications of the printer: indicator wireless, various reports of network printer, etc., all indicated that the printer is connected, all the indicators 'pass' or excellent.  At this point, however, I could not add the 8600 to my printer list, not he would give me a list of printers to select from.  It only showed my old 1012 Laserjet HP connected by USB.

Then I went to your next suggestion (printer does not keep the wireless connection). Went to french the first four steps.  Now, has been able to find the 8600 on the case of the printer-Scanner and reinstall the printer.  Everything seems to be good now; He has been correct riunning for more than 3 hours.  I assume that if the problem comes back, either, I do step 4 all over again, or I do step 5?

Another somewhat related question that you may or may not be able to respond to the.  In other words, when I print anything Google drive (docs, sheets, etc.) or other Google sites - when I go to print everything just goes to a washed out gray and I cannot print at all.  Instead, I download my file in pdf format and print from an excerpt.  Drizzle this to say that my Google Print needs to be put in place again.  Have not had the chance to follow still on it.

    Again, thanks for you help!

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 N911a, no PC Interface to the printer

Win 7 Home Premium, 32-bit and 64-bit PCs, wireless connection to the printer OfficeJet Pro 8600 N911a.

When clicking on the icon of the desktop printer, or to access the HP program in the start menu, MS Notepad opens the interface instead of the interface coding. It's a constant problem since the installation of the software in November 2012. The software has been installed on all three 3 PCs with the disc that came with the printer. All three 3 PCs suffer the same problem of no interface, only Noptpad with the code.

I uninstalled the drivers and firmware (using Revo) completely and reinstalled from the HP Support download site. The problem remains.

The interface of Scan function works perfectly in the start menu.

Other than that, the printer works fine when access to it to print from the sites, as well as the printer works perfectly with all functions when using the control panel touchscreen printer.

    Any suggestions or help appreciated.

    Hi Bobhist,

I understand that you have a 8600 Officejet which is not able to open the wizard in the printer on 3 different computers. I'm sorry to hear what is happening, but I'd be happy to help you!

I would recommend you have a look through this HP Printer Wizard opens with an error in Script or in Notepad and you should then be able to use everything as planned.

Hope this helps, have a nice week end

  • Cannot update firmware for Officejet Pro 8600 N911a

I can't upgrade the firmware in my Officejet Pro 8600 N911a.  My current firmware is CKP1CN1416AR.  According to the HP drivers website, the latest firmware is CLP1CN1322CR.  I get the update to run and it identifies my printer, but it won't let me select it.  I use the printer on a wireless network, but I'm trying to run the update of the firmware via USB.  Any help would be appreciated.

    Sunshyn2005,

Please provide information on this issue.

Apparently, the problem that your customers have is that they are wasting their time trying to update the firmware on their printers and after a few hours of frustration they finally know that HP has a firmware update file on its Web site that has a date that is much newer than the firmware itself.

HP should do the following to make the process less frustrating firmware update:

    1. establish dates and version numbers in the file metadata which clearly indicate what firmware file is more recent.

    2. keep the HP web site up-to-date with the latest versions of firmware.

3 Broudly and transparent announce to the public when an update will be made and why.

    4. establish technology so that firmware can be updated on wireless links so that the networks do not have to be reconfigured to make the firmware updates.

I suspect that @jfba done refers to the SNMP community name, not the name of the printerto Windows .

I have no idea if this can be changed on the Officejet Pro 8600 printers; LaserJet 400 Pro M475dn, the value can be changed via the Integrated Web server interface:
