HP p2-2334 PC: How do to recover from a c drive crashed

My PC just crashed and no longer sees a bootable disc. I have only the CD Kit b23 672285 supplied with the pc. What else do I need once I replaced the hard drive

Nuccii,

Thanks for your reply. I did some additional troubleshooting and noticed that the BIOS does not recognize my hard drive even if the "F2/F10" HP harddrive tests both past. Also, I didn't have the product ID 8 victory to possibly create a bootable ISO so I ordered another drive from HP that will have everything you need to recover my PC.

Thanks again

Plug a flash drive on your mac.  Flash drive icon should appear on your desktop.  There are adapters for sd camera cards.

You may be prompted to add pictures to the photo app.

If not or you do not want to add photos to the app, you can double-click the flash drive icon. You may need to explore the folder where are the pictures.  Drag and drop the photos where ever you like.

  • How to read the Notes of Apple recovered from the HARD drive has crashed

I tried to use DiskWarrior 5 to repair the hard drive that crashed on the previous laptop I was using (Macbook Pro mid-2010 7.1) last year.  I was running OS X 10.9 Mavericks for sure, and I'm almost certain that I had updated to OS X 10.10 Yosemite at the time where the hard drive crashed.  DiskWarrior does not completely fixing the reader, but I was able to recover most of the important files that I needed back.

The only thing that I still have to get back that I really wanted were my Notes of Apple (not sticky).  I could save a few files com.apple.Notes with these files:

    NotesV1.storedata

    NotesV1.storedata - wal

    NotesV1.storedata - shm

I tried to add the .html extension and open it in TextEdit, and Safari, and I see a lot of code, but none of my actual notes.  I noticed at the top of the NotesV1.storedata file, it says: SQLite 3 format, which leads me to believe that SQLite might serve to open/decode what I so that I can actually read.  I don't know anything about SQLite except that it can be opened and used in the Terminal, and it is already installed by default on my current computer which is a Macbook Pro mid-2012 (9.1).

Here's a sample of what I see if it helps.

Someone who knows what I'm doing and who also knows what they are doing can give me instructions step by step on how I can open these files with SQLite in the terminal, or decode, or something.  And no, unfortunately I do not have a back-up hard drive anywhere, and I was using iCloud in time.

    SQLite is a database format.

Your Mac must have an integrated tool to read these files, it's a Terminal command that has this manual...

    https://developer.Apple.com/library/Mac/documentation/Darwin/reference/ManPages/ man1/sqlite3.1.html

If it's too hard, you can try an app like...

    https://www.sqlitepro.com/

.. .or one of the many that are discussed at...

    http://StackOverflow.com/questions/100959/Mac-SQLite-Editor

You must open the "NotesV1.storedata", you may have to search in different tables to find relevant data, the data will be broken so that the pieces are unique, it is usually how are structured databases, if you need everything intact (as dates change etc) you need to perform queries to retrieve relevant items. Otherwise, you can export in CSV or other formats via this application.

I recommend you change the original & working on a copy, just in case you save the changes.

I don't think that this database is encrypted, but it is possible so post back if all of this sounds like gibberish. Also keep in mind that the data should not have images or other multimedia files that can be put in place, sometimes they are kept in databases as files.

Another option is to find the location that the Notes.app stores these databases in your user account, you may be able to place these copies & get the app to read. Ideally, you would have a similar version of the operating system installed to do this.

  • How to copy data from one hard drive to another after the upgrade?

I have a HP e9220y, and I recently bought a new hard drive for it. There is nothing wrong with the former, but this one has a 64 MB cache and 7200 RPM so I hope it will be a little faster. I installed it and it works fine, but I want to copy all data from the old disk to the new so I can start everything off the faster hard drive and I seem to have a bit of doing wrong. I can't just copy and paste because of the Windows system files that are used. And last night when I set up Windows backup, and went to bed, when I thought it that Windows has recovered from a stop unexpected, rebooted, and only 2 GB of data saved obtained.

What is the best way to move all the data from the old drive to the new drive, make it the default C: drive and move partitions system and factory_image as well? Thank you!

    (1) If your old drive and the new drive is Seagate or Western Digital, then free House with their cloning software.

    (2) before starting the clone process, I found best to perform a disk cleanup and defragmentation.

Cloning software to copy the two partitions. Example:

    Old drive 250 GB formatted to 232 C: created 220 and 12 GB D:

New 1000GO drive formatted to 931 GB created 919 GB C: and D: to 12 GB

The "Seagate disc Wizard" cloning software will let create you a clone automatic or manual partition resizing.

The two modes to offer an overview of the actions before commit you. The manual on this page of Seagate (PDF) is 68 pages.

After the cloning process he complete, all you have to do is swap on the disks. Besure to connect your new disc on the original motherboard SATA port.

  • How to transfer pictures from the flash drive for PC

Uploading images to a flash drive

a friend gave us a flash player that has pictures on it. I plugged it in and it turns on but I get nothing on my screen says thast there download or anything like that. How can I get my photos once they are uploaded?

They don't automatically upload. In some versions of Windows, when you insert any type of removable drive (flash disk, CD, DVD, etc.) you will get a dialog box asking what you want to do with the content. I find it quite annoying, but, in this case, it would be useful, because then you can choose from various options that may include any software you have to display the photos.

As this did not happen, press the Windows key + E to open Windows Explorer, click Folders in the menu to display the folders pane, then click the icon that represents the flash player. You should see (depending on your display options), a list of the icons or thumbnails of the photos. Try a double-click on one to see if some kind of viewer opens (for example, if you have a recent version of the installed office and they are JPEG files, they will probably open in Microsoft Office Picture Manager). If this isn't the case, right click on one and choose open with. You can have a few viable options listed; If this is not the case, click on choose program... and select a probable from the list in the dialog box that opens.

Note that this will only display the photos; they are still on the flash drive. To copy them to your hard drive, you will need to drag them from the flash drive into a folder on your hard drive.

  • How can I recover from a corrupted registry that prevents the start of Windows XP OEM version?

Turned on my Dell PC today to find wonderful "Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM"message. I tried Dell support does site... no help.  Just a page to list the errors and buttons for your favorite web search gee thanxs engines.

    Help!

You can always make use of KB307545, if you start your computer from a CD with a system.  I find that free Linux Livecd such as Knoppix or Ubuntu works well for this purpose (if you use Ubuntu, make sure you have not install; instead of this, use the option "Try Me").  You download an .iso file and use the "Burn Image" of your burning program CD to create a CD bootable on another machine and then use this system to perform the steps of KB307545.  Linux has the advantage of protections on the folder "System Volume Information" don't get in the way and where you need to back up your system (before reinstalling Windows), it doesn't have the path of 256 byte limit that has Windows.

After booting from the Live CD of Linux, start KB307545 of part 2, step 6.  You will use Linux to move, copy and delete files instead of command line commands, but you should be able to find a way to do it.  You won't have to restart between part 2 and part 3, but you need to remove the CD and reboot after completing part 3.  Make sure you complete part 4.

If things are really bad, you can use the Live CD as a system for access to your files and back up an external hard drive, USB or network before you reinstall Windows.

You should look in the control panel-> programs and features

Here you will find all the programs that are installed in Windows Vista. To remove an any of them click the program you want to uninstall and then click Uninstall/change, and follow the prompts.

After Toshiba HDD protection has been uninstalled, you can try to keep up with the upgrade to Windows 7.

  • How can I transfer from a (dead) Drive Skype conversations hard to another?

My drive hard main default to loading windows so I have installed on another hard drive and still have access to the files on the old HARD drive then, how can I transfer my story of my old HDD to my new conversations?

The only file you need to transfer is the main.db database file.

On your 'dead' drive, you should find this file in:

    Z:\Users\your username win\AppData\Roaming\Skype\your Skype name.

Transfer this file to the folder corresponding to the new disk.

Don't forget to replace the main.db file newly created by the copied file.

Also make sure that Skype is totally turned off when you transfer this file.
