HP Pavilion 15-ab157nr: SSD for Hp Pavillion 15-ab157nr

15-ab157nr Hp Pavillion laptop has recently begun to slow get and I think it's from the hard disk. My question is if anyone knows of an SSD that I could use to replace the current HARD drive.

Here is the Service Manual:

Manual

See p. 49 for hard drive files and reinstalling the SSD. It can use any 2.5 inches wide of 9.5 or, more probably 7 mm thick SSD instead of hard drive. Access the hard disk is not really easy and compromise security.

My DVAR is a Samsung 850 Evo like this:

http://www.Amazon.com/Samsung-2-5-inch-internal-MZ-75E500B-am/DP/B00OBRE5UE/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8 & qid = 1459549205 & SR = 8-3 & Keywords = Samsung + 850 + evo

Your existing hard drive is 500 concerts, so it would be wiser to get a 500 GB SSD. Posrt back if you need help with the software reinstall/migration.

But there, for some reason, is not determined by the system. My laptop is an SSD? I also updated the BIOS with the latest version, but it did not help.

    Hello @Elbrus,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I read your message and understand that you are trying to upgrade the drive in your computer, HP Pavilion dv6-2145er. I have searched and have met the maintenance and care guide. It will help you with that which is compatible with your laptop. If a computer supports SATA SSD should work as long as it brings together the same or more memory than the original drive.

No matter what type 2.5 inch SSD SATA will work. Your laptop is a SATA-II interface, but a SSD SATA-III works perfectly. I had luck with Samsung Evo 850 SSD. The SSD of only type for which I've seen consistent reports of problems is the Crucial MX - 100 series. And it's only for some HP models newer than yours.

    Hello

I would like to add an SSD for my HP Pavilion 500-035ed (office). I do not want to replace the existing drive, I would add a second drive.

    Hello

Look at the picture below and see if your model is configured for one SSD installation.

I see that your particular model is native/sold to the Netherlands.  There is a forum member that frequents this forum who lives in the Netherlands. Hmmmm that's a good guy!

  • Pavilion DV6 3000 Entertainmet: Need help to install an SSD for my laptop

Hello everyone, I want to get a SSD for my notebook to use as first HDD and system C, so I can have a better communication and speed faster for the system (like rendering, export audio & video).
I can do in my HP Pavilion DV6 3000 entertainment? What type of SSD can adapt to the system?
Running on Windows 10 (recently updated), Intel i5 M520 @2.4 GHz, Ati Radeon 1 Gb HD, 4 GB DDR3 Ram... HARD DRIVE 320 GB

I don't want to talk negatively about a manufacturer's product, but it is a fact that we saw a few compatibility issues raised here on the Forum about an old series of SSD Crucial, the MX which is not what you're asking about. I have used other than the MX series Crucial SSD successfully, but they are not my first choice. Crucial is a very reputable company and will remain fully behind their product. If they say it is compatible you aren't risking anything to try it.

    Hello

Yes, you can add it. A 160 GB ssd is listed as compatible, but I think that the ability is not limited.

What I did when I replaced my hard drive with an ssd has been to perform a new installation of Windows (same version) using the product number (do not register Windows online!) at the bottom of the laptop. Then I waited a message to record the OS and saved on the phone. Maybe a recovery reduced image created in the HP Recovery Manager can restore the system of origin on an SSD. These are usually smaller than the original hard drives and the recovery process ends with an error with the original image recovery disks.

Edit: you will need a support (in case you want to keep the old hdd in the secondary hard drive Bay) etc so the right part number is: 681976-001. Run the part number on google or ebay to get it.

You can put big an SSD because your wallet will allow.

It is the cable, do not know if you also need a shopping cart:

You really want to install the SSD as drive. Ask an SSD for the second disc just for storage, that's like asking the Secretariat to take a hack in Central Park. It will work but what a loss of speed.

I bought a Pavilion 15-ab157nr some time ago and have had several problems with the internet connection. I think they come from the map, a Realtek RTL8723BE. I found the Service Manual of 'star wars special edition' but I don't know if this would apply to my model.

  • Pavilion dv7-6178us: SSD SATA dv7-6178us which is Compatible with my laptop?

I have a Pavilion dv7-6178us laptop 'hand', and I would like to change the existing hard drive.  I understand that it came originally with a 750 GB SATA drive at 5400 RPM, but I inherited mine with only 100 GB SATA, OUCH!  I would like to upgrade my drive to a SSD for the best possible performance, and then add a larger disk for storage.  When you are looking for different drives, I came across SATA I, SATA II and SATA III and I can not figure out which is compatible with my computer or what he came originally with.

Which SATA (I, II or III) is compatible with the dv7-6178us?

What is the largest compatible SSD, or should I expect for the best performance?

What is the greatest player I can additionally ADD the SSD for storage?

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions.

Which SATA (I, II or III) is compatible with the dv7-6178us? Specification the SATA is backward compatible. This means that disks SSD SATA type will work in your notebook. The SSD will be made only to the level of specification SATA your SATA controller is capable of. If the controiller is SATA150 so your SSD SATA600 installed work bandwidth SATA150.

What is the largest compatible SSD, or should I expect for the best performance? , You can install one with the largest capacity you can afford.  I would recommend not to install a larger than 512 GB. My own brand preferences are Intel, OCZ Technology, Samsung and SSD Crucial.  Purchase of the SSD in upgrade kit is the simplest solution. Upgrade kits come with a SATA to USB cable and cloning software making it a fairly simple process to upgrade the laptop. See the post-it that I wrote at the top of the section of portable equipment for some details on this.

What is the greatest player I can additionally ADD the SSD for storage? I recommend you not to install any disk hard legacy with a capacity greater than 1 terabyte. There is no guarantee that a superior who will work as expected.

The following information is the maintenance guide & computer Support laptop dv7 to refers to the physical size of existing hard drives.

    6.35 cm (2.5 in) drives supports hard drives to 12.7 mm (. 50 inches), 9.5 mm (. 37-in) and thicknesses of 7.0 mm (. 28 - in)
