HP Pavilion 15-ak085na: updated HP Pavilion 15-ak085na SSD

Hi, the above model contains a 2 TB HDD, which is reeeeeeally slow.  My old laptop i3 is much faster for most tasks.

Does anyone know if the motherboard can take an SSD with the 2 TB drive?

I understand this would nullify the warranty, but it's (hard) makes me crazy.

Thank you.

It is being worked on and I think it will be resolved. Your can work, but there is a danger that it will not.

  • HP Pavilion 15 not: SSD update for HP Pavilion 15 laptop

    Hello!

I use PC HP Pavilion 15 Notebok (F6C42PA #ACJ). It came with Win 8.1 pre-installed on a 1 TB HARD drive. I updated the OS to win 10 and now upgrade my HDD to SSD. I was wondering if TS256GSSD370S Transcend and Samsung Evo 850 is compatible with my laptop. Also how to enable AHCI mode? I don't see such an option in the BIOS.

    Thank you.

15 - n203tx is the model. Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

The compartment access hard drive appears on p. 59. As you can see, it's a bit more involved.

Don't fall into the trap of overthink. The laptop is in ahci mode and you can not set otherwise. With Windows 10 an SSD will be automatically recognized as such and optimized. Your question only real tech is to get the software on the new SSD. After the back if you need some help with that.

The Samsung Evo 850 is my choice, but the Transcend would work too.

  • HP Pavilion G6 2231sc: updated HP Pavilion G6 2231sc SSD

    Hello

so, my drive is probably leaving me as I write, I got a few BSOD in the morning and CHKDSK is now to find tons of bad clusters in all directions.

So my main question is, my laptop will support an SSD if I buy it?

Second, I checked the hardware specifications posted here and it does not say very much at the disk - I'm mostly concerned about size or all the other features that the reader must have, so I know what to look for when buying a new drive, SSD or HDD. Does anyone know what or where to get them? Unless the easiest way is to take out the drive and measure...

Thirdly, my Windows 8.1 license will be preserved even if I install it on a clean hard disk?

Other clues about replacing the disk hard drive are welcome, I've never done it before (but with the help of this forum, I managed to upgrade my RAM... year correctly).

    Hello

Your machine uses the standard 750 GB SATA (5400 RPM) for laptops and

    1. Yes, it supports SSD.

2 special issue of shape and size (physically). Will fit any standard SSD or HARD drive for laptops. Normally the SSD is thinner but sellers will provide plasttic fram rubber to keep them in HARD drive bays (alsi cresws them be held in places).

    3. the key is actually in the BIOS, so in theory, you can install without any problems. But in practice, you can have some small hiccups of Microsoft.

To remedy this, the best option is to contact HP and order a set of recovery media for your computer. Help you the Maintenance and Service Guide wil.

But there, for some reason, is not determined by the system. My laptop is an SSD? I also updated the BIOS with the latest version, but it did not help.

    Hello @Elbrus,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I read your message and understand that you are trying to upgrade the drive in your computer, HP Pavilion dv6-2145er. I have searched and have met the maintenance and care guide. It will help you with that which is compatible with your laptop. If a computer supports SATA SSD should work as long as it brings together the same or more memory than the original drive.

    Hi @SteveDB

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. I read on your g6-2210 HP Pavilion laptop and having issues with the new SSD. You can reset the BIOS withthis document by selecting the reload the default BIOS settings. This will get to take a look for the new SSD.

Note Remove all USB devices. Disconnect all devices of non-essential, as these can cause some problems.

Here is a link toyour manual. If you need it.

    I hope this helps.

  • X 360 Pavilion: Pavilion x 360 SSD upgrade

Hi all, I have recently (October 2016) bought a Pavilion x 360 (model 13-0004nl); internal 5400 RPM drive 1 TB is extremely slow and so would an SSD.

I am not able to find info on this machine, and if it can be upgraded to a SSD drive or not, someone has info?

A link to the documentation would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

    Hello

It uses a 2.5 "HDD, you can switch to the SSD, BUT you must ask an authorized HP service provider.  Please read a manual called Guide of Service and Maintenance on a link below (similar/sister machine):

I want to improve my laptop (HP Pavilion g6 - 1219sv) with a SSD hard drive. Y at - it suggestions on the model which works perfectly with my system?

    Hello

This link will help you to deepen your knowledge of SSDfor your system.

I assume that your system has been delivered with 640 GB 5400 RPM drive HARD SATA 2.5 "9.5 mm, but your system also compatible with 7 mm drives too, here is the manual .

Yes, you can go for 2.5 "7mm / 9.5 mm SATA SSD.

Contact the nearest HP Service center before you buy SSDS to confirm compatibility with your model.

MAKE A FULL BACKUP OF FILES PERSONNEL SINCE THE HDD ON ANOTHER EXTERNAL DRIVE BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH REPLACEMENT.

Since you 640 GB preinstalled, you may not be able to use recovery disks for the resettlement of the plant affecting BONES to your<640GB ssd="" if="" you're="" planning="" for="" lesser="" size="">

But you could migrate/clone HARD whole with BONE disk image & recovery for the SSD partition before removing the HARD drive with the USB connection to the SATA connector that comes with the SSD or you will have to buy them separately.

Format the SSD drive before you start the migration, there is software for it in the SSD itself manufacturer website.

And then change it yourself if its easily accessible or give it to your nearest service center HP.

    Some examples of online shops:

    Samsung Electronics 840 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5 - Inch SATA III

    SAMSUNG 840 EVO

    Samsung EVO 840 500 GB
