Hi @shuvo2014

Thank you for your query.

I understand that your optical drive has stopped working and looking to replace.

Here is a link to HP Notebook PC - hardware failures (Windows 7, Vista) screening. According to the component test the optical drive is listed so you can test it.

If you need to replace the optical drive here is a link to HP Pavilion g6 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service of Guide where you can get the part number.  Please note Chapter 3, page 23 article 15 for optical drive cable, and Chapter 3, page 24, paragraph 21, for the optical drive.

Here is a link to theHP parts store to help the acquisition of your parts.

You can also do a search on the web with the part number to find suppliers who may have to sell.

Whenever I start my laptop it gives me an urgent message indicating: "Hard drive faliure and error, back up computer immediately and replace the hard drive." It seems that everything laptop I've ever bought only lasts a year, I don't do any change which file or something like that. My children have a few games sims 3 on the laptop and I took my laptop in the pc world to see if they have been slowing down or gong to ruin the laptop, but the employee assured me that nothing would happen to her. And now it's come along, im not really at a point where I can splash a lot of money on a new laptop computer. It is better to go just to get a mac from apple because they guarantee a longer life of the computer and cost less in the long run? Please help, you can find me a cheap solution for this problem?

Mine lasted 8 months before getting the imanent of hard drive failure. And the laptop is so hot, he could give you the 2nd degree burns. I am on a fixed income and could not really afford the computer first and then make fail after only minimal use. I tried to contact h.p. never got an answer or anything, and by the look of it online, it happened to many people. • Portege R700 - how to replace the optical disk drive?

    Hello
I would like to replace the optical disc drive (ODD) with a Solid State Drive (SSD) on my Portege R700.
So my first question is: what is the way to remove the STRANGE?

And my second question is: can I replace it with a Caddy drive HARD ICY BOX IB-AC642 or Akasa AK-OS2SSA-BK?
Interface SATA caddy fits with the WEIRD interface?

    Thank you for your answer

    Hello

It s really complicated because the STRANGE is placed inside and remove it you must remove all the screws that fix the bottom cover.

I wouldn't, because you will lose the warranty.
More I doubt you could get the second HDD to work in ODD Bay.
I think that this is not supported
Just the laptop s as Portege M400, M700, M750, Tecra M9, S3 or S4 with a select Bay slim support would treat the 2nd HDD instead of ODD.

  • HP Pavilion 6653w "imminent hard drive failure! "Backup and replace. Questions.

Hello, I have a HP Pavilion 6653w with Windows 7 Home Premium desktop computer.   It is 4 to 6 years old.  Recently, when I start it, I get a message "imminent hard disk failure!  Please save and replace as soon as possible."  I've never had to replace a hard drive before, so I have some questions:

1 should. what type of disc do I replace - be of the same type that I have now?  (Hitachi, 1 TB).   Is there a list somewhere that shows which drives are not suitable for my computer?

2 - is a mechanically inclined person (my husband) could do at home, or that it does not require a professional?  My husband has replaced a front memory card, we just request if it is similar to the one in trouble?

    Thank you!

This link will take you to a document on the withdrawal and the replacement of a hard drive on a HP or Compaq desktop computer.  If it is not identical to your case, it will be a little similar.  The point is, that it is not terribly difficult; This is something you might be able to tackle yourself, or with a friend who has some experience with computers.

    I hope this helps.

  • Pavilion T3065.uk hard drive failure

My Pavilion T3065.UK sticks on a BACK page when turned on who says ' Maxtor6b200m0 disk failure is imminent - press F2 to continue. " He then works, but slowly. The computer is more than 5 years old. Is it possible to change the hard drive (200 GB) for greater capacity and this will solve the problem? Does anyone know which hard drive work with my computer?

    Paul

    Hi Paul,.

The main difference between SATA and SATA2 is the speed of data transfer (150 MB/s and 300 MB/s respectively).  These are however the theoretical speeds - I have never seen 300 Mbps on my PC!  However, SATA2 is backward compatible, so if your motherboard doesn't support SATA (which according to me, what it does in your PC) a SATA2 drive just by default SATA speed.

To be quite honest, I'm not sure on a 1 to or 2 TB of HARD drive in the bios of some older computers can stop all of the space being considered.   You'd probably beautiful with the readers of this size, it's just that I don't know who did.

    I hope this helps.

    Best wishes

  • Re: Satellite C50D-A-13N - Optical Disk Drive eject malfunction of button

    Hello

A bit of history; I took this laptop on behalf of my manager at work for the birthday of his son (tomorrow) and offered to set up for him. Unfortunately, the eject button on the DVD drive (and right click > eject in my computer) flashes the light and I can hear the spring trigger, but didn't actually eject the disc.

However, it erases the memory disk in my computer (changes in office 2013 to the DVD player). I know because the paper clip trick works; I am able to insert a paper clip into the slot for manual release. As a result, I have proven that it can read the disks, it cannot simply eject.

Here are the things I've tried various bandages around the web:
    -Tried to eject when booting
-Uninstalled driver CD/DVD, auto-réinstaller at startup
-Remove any software related to disk
-Searched high and low for a pilot updated DVD without success.

I came to the conclusion that the problem is hardware related instead of something to do with the software, everything is recognized fine, it's just the eject button that fail to work as expected.

Then, because this kid's birthday is tomorrow, what I can do which does not send off for repair the machine?

    Thank you in advance!

    Hello

If I understand the question; the eject button does not work properly, but you can eject the disc, insert the paper clip into the small hole near the eject button.
    Is this correct?

Since there is no special software, which controls the eject button, looks like the related problem of material issue and I think that the only option to solve this problem is the replacement of CD/DVD drive.

If the system can run Windows 7 AND there are drivers for the devices that these might help:

References to Vista also apply to Windows 7.

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and the
correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive

  • Pavilion 15 ab128na: hard drive upgrade from the Pavilion 15-ab128na

    Hello

I am buying a laptop computer ab128na Pavilion 15 and wanted to know about upgrade capabilities.

It comes with a disc of M.2 256 GB SSD but it maybe a bit small. Is there room for an additional HARD disk drive (such as the gaming notebook pavilion)? So I, for example, M.2 256 GB SSD drive and a 1 TB HARD drive.

Or the model allows only for 1 hard drive, so I have to replace the SSD drive, it comes with a larger capacity SSD?

    Thanks in advance

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

This manual explains Star Wars Edition and the 15-ab128na sharing the same internals with this model.

The problem is if your laptop comes with just the MSSD m2 I don't think they understand the mounting kit for a 2.5-inch hard drive. You must purchase the part on the secondary market in some way.

Kit hardware hard drive (supports and connector) 809296-001

In addition, access to the hard drive Bay is a bit of a chore and put security at risk.

But to directly answer your question, the laptop is designed to have a m2 and the SATA 2.5 inch disk at the same time.

You could also install a HDD as pure storage using the slot of the DVD drive with an adapter. Of course, you lose the optical drive but I find myself with mine very rarely these days, anyway. Use of this Bay, the warranty will not be affected.

  • Pavilion g6-1118TX: reported hard drive failure

    Hello people of the community.

Recently, I get a message indicating an imminent hard drive failure during startup. I just wanted to know how I can solve the problem and how to buy a hard drive and the same difficulty. The issue seems to affect the cranking up the speed of the laptop. I would be grateful if you can give an approximate value of your new hard drive and the different options available (eg.1TB, 750GB etc.) for PAVILION g6-1118TX model number. Also suggest would be interesting to buy a new hard drive and move or search for improving the system of newer models.

Waiting for your reply at the earliest.

    Hi @ra1791!

I'm sorry to say this, but such errors are indicating that the drive is about to fail, then the best option in this case will be to replace it with another unit. If the product is still under warranty, you can contact support, but in case you have no guarantee and you would like a guide to replacing the hard drive you can you take a look at the manual page, user 46:

    Compatible spare disks are also.

  • HP Pavilion Slimline S5: Internal HARD drive failure, PC does not start

Drive HARD internal of my HP Pavilion Slimline S5 failed and died recently (bought in 2011). My HP warranty is long gone.

The splash screen has shown this message:

1720-SMART hard detects an imminent failure

Due to lack of player: SATA0

    Failed attributes: # 05

I have several questions about this:

    1. Is it only caused by HARD drive failure? I want to replace it myself, but I don't really know if there are other parts to replace. Or it will be better to bring it to the computer shop to do carefully check?
    2. I can replace it with Seagate Barracuda 3.5 "(7200 RPM, 1 TB, SATA 3 or 6)? I think that the current HARD drive is Hitachi.
    3. I still need to transfer Windows OEM once the HARD drive is replaced?

    Thanks in advance.

According to the packing of the Seagate, it might come with the software.  But if it is OEM drive then found the software by clicking HERE.  In general, I use a USB adapter for hard drive to clone if the PC will not support an additional drive.  Given that a number of incomplete model for the PC, it is difficult to find accurate info, but the Pavilion Slimline S5 I checked all have a motherboard with additional SATA ports.  Just have a spare SATA cable and power on the power port and try the cloning software.  Make sure that the drive is not touch a conductive element.  Usually, I place the additional reader on a cardboard box.

Install the new drive as a replacement for the existing drive and connect everything as it is now.  Then connect the old drive in the manner discussed.  Boot from the CD created with cloning tools.  If the old drive is cloned stll, then when the software is finished, remove the old drive connections to see if the drive can start the computer.  If this is not successful, try to run the recovery screen (F11) BIOS boot manager.  If that does not work, use the Recovery DVD set brand when the computer was new.  If you did this, or lost them, then see THATto order a series.
