HP Pavilion - assignments of ports for disk hard ext

QUESTION: I have three external hard drives.  For several months, whenever I have connect a particular hard drive (via USB), this hard drive is assigned the same port/drive assignment every time, no matter which USB port it is plugged.  For example: the 200 GB h/d is always assigned drive K:, 300 Go is always assigned L: drive and the 750Go is always drive N:.  Note that I have plug that these discs hard (at different times) in the two USB ports on the Panel front of the office.  Recently, I plugged the 300 GB hard drive into a USB port on the Panel front of the office and he was assigned to the K: drive (when it is normally assigned to the L drive :).  This created a problem for two reasons: 1) my Creative Mediasource Organizer connects the PC music library to the L: drive and 2) my Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Encore DVD projects contain assets that are related to the L: drive.  I managed to set up this drive of 300 GB as drive l: yet once, by plugging in first (turn on) the 200 GB hard drive and then do the same for 300 GB hard drive.

QUESTION: Is there a way to have my external drives assigned to specific ports/drives on my desktop, when they are turned on and connected?

  • Pavilion Dv7 - 3125sf BlueScreen and [disk hard Test failure]

    Hi James,

I would run the DST short test on the hard drive again.  If it still does not respond, it is you say that there are areas of the drive that don't work anymore - that is to say that they cannot be written to or read.  From my experience, it is the beginning of the end for the HARD disk, because over time, areas more and more the reader will go the same way.  The speed and the magnitude of this decline is impossible to predict, but it will happen.  So to answer your question, I always install a new HARD drive, although as long as you do regular backups of your files - (make two backups so that if the drive has completely failed when refreshing a backup, you will always have the other is)-you can continue to use your existing drive until it becomes unusable.

    I hope this helps.

Ran check disk on drive c... spent... ran on d ' drive stopped about 20% through after 676 files... help... Thank you

Your original drive was a 640 GB 7200 RPM, then to just get one at least that large to your recovery discs work.

Here is the player that I recommend:

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=9SIA2W014M8026

    750 GB 7200 RPM for a bit over $ 70.

This is a video showing how to replace the hard drive of your laptop on youtube.

    https://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=VB-zgFKVAZA

In fact, it shows how a little more, do you need. Just pay attention to how he holds the first hard drive closest to the battery.

Once you have the new drive comes to put in the restore DVD and boot from them and follow the prompts to restore it to the State of the plant.

  • OptiPlex 755 dafault power supply for disk HARD 3

Hello all, I have this Optiplex 755 DT and I use it as a media server. So far I used two hard drives by removing the optical unit. I have read forums and I think I can add a third HARD drive since there is at least one available sata (the other seems to be reserved for the optical drive) but my concern is the power supply because it has only two sata power cables. I know I could use a splitter but I was wondering if the power supply can produce enough power for three 7200 HARD drives / a PCI express x 16 video card.

    Hi jigzat,

Hard disks use very little energy. OEM power will have no harm to manage another drive in your 755. So the idea of splitter is fine.

  • What is the best practice for disk hard extension for VM?

My client asked D drive expansion for 100 GB for VM is 2008. I have a few questions to this

    1. can I use HDD for the extension (using the same disk and even Datastore1)?

Ex: D drive has now 400GB, if I add an another 100 GB on the same hard drive, it will go 500 GB

    2. can I use different hard drive for expansion (creating new HARD drive and using the same datastore1)

Ex: Now a 400 GB drive, created the new HARD drive and added 100 GB using the same Datastore1

    3. can I use different and expanded to different hard drive Datastore2 hard drive?

Ex: Car has now 400 GB, new HDD created with 100 GB of different datastore2

    (1) Yes, you can use the same disc - and it will be expanded to 500 GB - you must use the disk manager in 2008 to extend the drive to make space available

2 & 3) Yes, you can create a new HARD drive and add to the machine and it can be on another store of VMFS data

3 questions (I'm on an iMac)

    (1) I brought the AVCHD (entire file) files from an SD (Sony PXW-70) to an external hard drive.

Hard disk, it is not possible to see individual clips to open the file "AVCHD".

When I click on it, I see the individual clips. I can not re - appoint these clips. They are

Clip #1 Clip #2 etc how ca label clips while remaining hard disk, before to do first?

    (2) I imported the files in the folder of the hard driveI first and then named the clips (with numbers).

When I open the project a) it says media is offline. so I have to manually link the media b) media other shoots

that have the same number or clip 00002 become confused and shows it to the top. Help!

I spent an hour and a half with the Prime Minister on the phone including coming on my desk and then they told me I should

chat with SONY (camera) and see what Extractor they recommend.

Do not rename the files as a logging.

Copy them to folders separated from each card so that the file numbers are not incompatible. for example "rushes" map 1 "rushes" card 2 etc...

Ingest them in tubs of project same distinct file naming protocol.

Save the files using the Description field

I have a folder on my external hard drive (western digital) that according to folder properties shows like containing 102 GB of data, but when I try to open the folder in Explorer windows (or any other program) it is said that the folder is empty - what possible reason would be for this?  all other files on the same hard drive display in Solution Explorer and opens properly.

  • exporting photos to disk hard ext.

MacBook Pro requires more space, i.e. to reduce my photos. Photos of ing 'export' to the position of h/d 1) will provide the space and 2) export the original (Raw) and any treatment performed?

How this is done in Photos?

The best approach is to move the entire file photo library on the external drive. Your app Photos will remain on your primary drive, but files will be moved, storage space for compensation. You'll just have to do not forget to connect the external drive before launching the Photos.

The photo library file is normally located in your username > pictures folder. After you have copied it yo the external drive, double-click the copy of 'teaching' photos where the library is now located. If everything is OK, delete the original file from the library.

There is that some members have used and reported success with third party products. I can't recommend any particular HARD drive caddy product as I have no personal experience using one. I can provide you with a URL so you can decide for yourself. I will update with more sources as I find them.
