HP Pavilion DM1: Laptop does not connect to Internet

My HP Pavilion dm1 is not connecting to the internet.  I know it's a older laptop (I bought it in 2011) but everything has worked very well so far.  It shows my network is available and I was able to access the internet from my phone to my roommate, but my laptop does not connect.  I have tried all the usual stuff... rebooted the laptop several times, ran troubleshooting, unplugged the router and the modem.  I noticed it happened after I installed an update of Windows, so I uninstalled the updates and still no luck.  What should I try next?

Hi @slmahan ,

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. I looked in your question about your problems of HP Pavilion dm1-3025dx laptop and with the wireless for Windows 7. Here is a link for the wireless connection troubleshooting.

If you click on start and go to the Manager of device-Do you see the network map?

Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant. Simply download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system, it has built in support troubleshooting wireless.

I would like to know how this happens.

Thank you.

What router are you using? You can turn off proxy DNS? If this is not
possible, you should be able to get the IP addresses of the DNS servers of your ISP
and configure those statically. The use of routers IP means that the router is
Proxy DNS. Looks like proxy DNS does not work.

  • Laptop does not connect to internet

Sometimes my laptop works for days without problem, then other days I turn it on and it was just a red cross on the internet icon, and it shows there is no other network at all and then finally 10 to 15 minutes later he could decide to connect, otherwise I have to restart the laptop and then sometimes it will connect. Sometimes it will work for a few days. Today its not connect at all. My laptop has almost always this problem again.

I've made sure the network card has the most recent drivers.

I am currently using my laptop to partners, and this laptop was never a problem, so I don't know its my cell phone only and not my Internet is the question.

Could someone help me solve the problem please?

    Thank you very much

  • H8 - 1360t - page load HP Pavilion constantly and does not connect to internet

Sorry if I'm on the wrong card, but this doesn't seem to be a connectivity issue because my laptop is fine. I recently bought your desktop HP Pavilion h8 - 1360t. I am running Windows 7. I've disabled the login screen, the Canon camera software installed and uninstalled Norton and went with the Earthlink virus protection. I can't imagine other changes I've done because I can barely get online anywhere. The problem is that I can't get straight after the restart of the computer. If I'm lucky, I can get on a single website for a minute or two, but then the window no longer charge. The loading icon turn right and towers and eventually I get a message asking me if I want to wait for or terminate the program. I went to Internet Explorer for Google Chrome and thought it was a little better at first, but it still occurs. I hope that I don't have a bad computer. Can someone give me some ideas on how to solve this problem? Thank you.

I just thought about something else. I still have my old Dell desktop hung right next to the HP because I did not move my files again. The router & modem are plugged into the Dell. I don't know if this could slow down the HP computer.

Thank you for responding. I was unable to get safe mode to come up by pressing the F8 key, but the computer seems to work better now. I was talking to Earthlink a different issue and they suggested that I try Earthlink PC Fine Tune. I was suspicious at first, but it seems to be very useful.

  • My laptop does not connect to the Internet wireless or Ethernet.

Hi my laptop does not connect to Internet via Wi - Fi or Ethernet connection. He previously connected the two. The model is a portable HDX-18 1201 and runs the Windows Vista 64-bit operating system. I have had the laptop for a while now and this is the first time that this has happened. I tried to locate the network drivers but can't find them on the Device Manager. To my knowledge, I have not changed anything on the computer that may have caused this. If someone could help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Richard

    Hi Richard,

Search for the latest drivers for your model laptop from the HP site and then try if operate you, install it, for the wireless and Ethernet cards

just download the drivers from the HP website through another computer, copy it to MemoryStick and install the drivers on your laptop and see if it detects it fine, and then it should work Fine.

  • Hall 13: HP pavilion laptop does not connect to the printer HP envy range 7640

My laptop does not connect to my HP envy printer. It keeps saying the driver is not available or is it ready, but does not connect. I know the printer is working because I can print from my phone. Anyone know the driver I need to download or what to do?

    Ruizgeraldine

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your post about the problems with your Envy 7640 in Win10 printer and wanted to help.

The problem is that by default HP print drivers installed by the upgrade of Win10 often do not work.  I have two HP printers and neither one worked after the Win10 upgrade.  We also receive a lot of messages of other people with the same problems.

I linked the page drivers and software for the Win10 drivers for your printer: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-envy-7640-e-all-in-one-printer-series/6617267/model/6617268#Z7_3054ICK0K8UDA0AQC11TA930C7

You must download and install the full feature software and drivers for the printer.

Then unplug the printer and install the software.

Do reconnect the printer until the installation program invited to do so.

Once the installation is complete, restart.

You should then be able to use your printer in Win10.

    Good luck

  • HP Pavilion dv7 - 3188cl: HP Pavilion does not connect to Internet (resolved)

I recently got a HP Pavillion Entertainment, model number dv7 - 3188cl, for me to use for a class at the school by my uncle. Before the recovery, everything worked perfectly well. My uncle asked me to reset the computer, so we used the recovery disks that wiped the hard drive successfully but then refuses to reinstall the operating system. Instead of getting another set of recovery disks that I've used a Windows 7 install disc to reinstall the OS and he did so successfully with one flaw, the laptop does not connect to the internet.

I tried to connect via ethernet and it does not find my WiFi network. I suspect his lack a driver and checked for drivers on the HP site but he said that there is none. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and if there is no driver for this I would be grateful if you could tell me where to download from.

    Thanks in advance.

Update: after some search Intel had the good driver needed.

    Hello

    Maybe this can help.

These steps and tell us where is the breaking point.

Check the Device Manager for the wireless card valid entry.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/net_dm.jpg

If there is no valid entry, remove any entry from fake and re - install the drivers for the wireless card.

Check network connections to make sure that you have a network icon/entry wireless connection, and that the properties of the icon (right-click on the icon) are correctly configured with the TCP/IPv4 protocol in the properties of network connections.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/net_connection_tcp.jpg

Make sure that if there is Wireless Utility a utility vendor is not running with the native Windows wireless utility.

    ----------------

Make sure you firewall No. preventing / blocks wireless components to join the network.

Some 3rd party software firewall continue to block the same aspects it traffic Local, they are turned Off (disabled). If possible set up the firewall correctly, otherwise totally uninstall and get rid of its remaining processes that permit the own local network traffic flow.

If the 3rd party software is uninstalled, or disables, make sure Windows native firewall is active .

    ---------------------------

Stack TCP/IP work should look like.

Right-click on the wireless network connection card, select status, details and see if she got an IP address and the rest of the settings.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/status-NIC.jpg

Description is the data of the card making.

The physical address is MAC of the card number.

The xx must be a number between 0 and 255 (all xx even number).

YY should be between 0 and 255

ZZ should be between 0 and 255 (zz all the same number.)

The date of the lease must be valid at the present time.

    * Note 1. IP that starts with 169.xxx.xxx.xxx isn't valid functional IP.

    * Note 2. There could be an IPv6 entries too. However, they are not functional for Internet or LAN traffic. They are necessary for Win 7 homegroup special configuration.

    ---------------------------------------------------

A message in the small window that says connected wireless doesn't means that you are really a valid functional connection.

Above everything is OK, you must be able to connect to the router.

Connection to the router means that you can enter the IP of the router base in an address bar in one go, being able to connect and configure the router menus see.

If it doesn't connect to the router, journal newspaper from any computer that can connect to the router wirelessly with a wire, disable wireless security, make sure that the wireless SSID broadcast is enabled and try to connect with no. wireless security.

Enable security wireless after you eat to make a functional connection.

  • Compaq CQ58 computer 301SA laptop does not connect to 50Ghz band on router

My laptop does not connect to the band 50Ghz on my router dual-band. I know that my router Netgear dual band diffuse 24 and 50 Ghz, but the laptop only shows the 24 Ghz band depending on availability.

I have a Compaq CQ58 301SA Notebook PC, Windows 8 (64 bit OS).  It has a Ralink RT5390R 802 11bgn network adapter and a Realtek ethernet network adapter. I use the laptop wireless, for example using the Ralink connection and it connects easily to the 24 GHz band, but I want to broadcast TV programs and movies smoothly, for which, I understand that the 50Ghz band is preferable. I pay my ISP (Virgin Media) for a connection to Super-fast broadband but my laptop seems to be limited to the 24 GHz band. Seems to be the case if I work with the adapter Ralink wireless or wired with Realtek ethernet connection.

This problem can be corrected? If so, how? What I have done research on the web, the problem seems to be network adapters. Can they work on the 50Ghz band? Or do I need to download another adapter (if so, which?) Or use an adapter external network I plug into a USB port?

    Driving me crazy...

    Hello:

The Ralink RT5390R 802 11bgn is a map of the only band (2.4 GHz) only.

Whenever you see a labeled bgn wireless card, it is a single band card.

Cards labeled dual band abgn or agn.

The maintenance manual (Chapter 3, page 19) does not indicate that any internal dual band card is supported, so you would probably have to go with an external usb dual wireless adapter.
