HP Pavilion dm4-2165dx WiFi driver install problems

Product:

HP Pavilion dm4-2165dx

OPERATING SYSTEM:

Windows 7 Professional 64 bit VL

Description of the problem:

Impossible to install the WiFi driver. Tried all 3 drivers provided on the support site: Ralink, Realtek & Intel WiMAX. All 3 installers indicate either the WiFi card was not found / detected or the installation program just hangs.

Found a solution.

(1) to restore the system to factory settings

(2) save C:\SWSetup\Drivers file on a USB

(3) install Windows 7 Pro 64-bit

(4) copy C:\SWSetup\Drivers on HD

(5) install device drivers

    Hello:

You should see a device labeled network controller listed under other devices in Device Manager if necessary the driver wireless card.

    There is something wrong.

    1. the wireless card needs the HP Connection Manager software installed so it can be activated by using the software, then you should be able to install the driver or the Terminator post will be installed.

    HP connection manager

    File name: sp54945.exe

    2. the wireless card is bad and must be replaced, or must be removed and reinstalled because of an oxidized connection.

    3. the motherboard is bad.

Also install software quick launch to ensure that all Fn keys work correctly.  There's a chance outside that might be the problem, but I doubt it.

    File name: sp54001.exe

  • Pavilion dm4, replacing hard drive

    So, I have a HP Pavilion dm4 1165 c: windows 7 64 bit, around a Yes and a half old.

A week before, the hard drive suffered a kind of permanent fatal event and quietly left this death spiral.  If you want to know: any type of shoe was impossible.  System recovery could not even see the drive, an external drive could not speak of it, and it crashed to any machine that has tried.  I had to send it to data recovery - they tell me that the reader has hard errors and at least one of the drive heads does not.  They will be able to pick up stuff for me, but the reader is a loss (yes I know, I know - I should have backed up).

So in my opinion it - I have two problems to solve.  1. I need a new hard drive.  2 - I need stuff to put on my hard drive (it came with nothing - I don't have the disc for the operating system, drivers, nothing).  That offer HP which determination of these problems?  How much are these options?  Who should I talk to?  (I tried to call tech support, but there was a bit of a language barrier.  Also, I'm out of warranty, and they want $60 to solve problems before they'll still talk about replacement of hardware and/or software).

    Hello:

You can order a 500 GB hard drive 7 200 to replace your existing one.  You can't go smaller if you want to use recovery disks.

I love this place to order PC hardware.

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/ProductList.aspx?submit=Ene&N=100007605%20600030594&IsNodeId=1&BOP=and&order=rating&PageSize=20

I'd go with the first listed, but it is up to you. Look at the reviews and the price and choose the one that suits you best.

You can order HP recovery discs. You will need to call them as the link to the website to order them is broken.  Cost should be less than $20.00

You will need the complete model number of your PC. I do not see a dm4 - 1165dm.  I see a dm4 - 1165dx, and you will need to provide the serial number.

If HP has a set of recovery disc for your PC, you can use this workaround to install W7 on your new HARD drive.

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

    Hello

Have installed Windows XP on a new Portege R700 PT310E. Have managed to reinstall all drivers, but can't for the life of get me the audio drivers installed. Install the audio drivers from the website but still no audio is detected. The unknown device in Device Manager is showing that VEN 8086 DEV 3B 56 but theres not really any useful info on the PCI database.

Any suggestions on how I can resolve. Today cost me a bit frustrating hours!

    See you soon

    Hey,.

I agree with the user above. You must install SP3 first because it contains some important fixes for the HD audio card. So take a look at the Microsoft Web site and download the update.

  • Pavilion g6 2320tx: hard drive Partition problem.

    Hi all

I am confronted with a difficulty to partition my C drive. Is not be shrunk below 350 GB. I enclose two screenshots from my PC.

Let me know what I am doing wrong.

    Hello

    You are welcome

I suggest you try the options below, in the order listed.

    Turn off a quick start:

Open settings and select System.  Select food and sleep, and then click additional power settings - in the next window, click on "Choose what the power button" in the left pane.

In the next window, click on "Change settings that are currently unavailable" (close), then Remove the check mark from the box against 'Turn on a quick start (recommended) '.  Click on the button Save the settings, and then close all open windows.

Restart the computer and check if you can now shrink the C partition to the selected size.

To disable the system restore option:

Open windows control panel and on the top right, next to the display by: select "large icons".  Since the new layout, select the input of the system, then Protection of the system in the left pane.  Left click Local disk C to highlight the entry and then click Configure.  Fill in the radio button next to "disable system protection, click apply and then Ok to save the change."

Restart the computer and check if you can now shrink the C partition to the selected size.

If it is not always shrink the C partition to the required size, then try temporarily disabling the pagefile as follows.

    To disable the pagefile:

Open windows control panel, select the input of the system, and then select advanced in the left pane system settings.  Left click Local disk C to highlight the entry and then click Configure.  Running, click on the settings button.  In the next window, select the Advanced tab and under "Virtual memory", select the button change.  Uncheck 'Automatically manage the size of pagefile for all readers' and then check the radio against "No file" button  Ok in this window and click on apply then Ok in the previous window.

Reboot the laptop and try to reduce the C partition once again.

Note: When you are done, I would recommend the reactivation of all the options above to new, but definitely re - activate the swap file (just chose the option for Windows to automatically manage the size).

    Kind regards

    DP - K
