HP Pavilion - do I need external recovery option?

Hello

I just bought a HP Pavilion 15.  Get advice contractdictory.  Some say that must have an external recovery option; others say why, there is no need and there is a lot of hassle to create a game.  Need advice:

(1) is it really necessary to have an external option when I have the recovery partition (D) on the hard drive?

(2) if I need an external option (however difficult it's maybe create), think to buy Panasonic DVD - RAM 9.4 GB rewritable disc.  Is this a suitable medium?  And how function drives how much I need to buy?

(3) absolute worst case secenario - if I need to recover & had no external recovery media, what are my other options?

Unfortunately enough knowlegde/experince of concern but not know enough to know what to do.  Can anyone help?

To the best of my knowledge, HP allows driver downloads regardless of the status of the warranty...  The only time you'll ever a question is if you try to put an OS on a machine that is not designed...  IE Win7 on a machine of Win8, etc etc...

Even then, there are always alternatives...

My philosophy has always been to NEVER put anything on a computer on which you cannot live without...

If the drivers are your concerns, you got nothing to worry about.  With VERY few exceptions, drivers are ALWAYS available...

The hassle to go out into the nature of the Internet to find is really the only negative...

  • Cannot acess System Recovery Options, need help with the registry. Kindly help.

Hi, sorry for the long question, but please help.

To start off the coast, one day out of nowhere, my PC showed a "Login process initialization failed" error As a result, I am able to go pass the stage of "Starting Windows" but can't see the login screen. The way to remedy this problem is to restore windows. Now I'm able to reach recovery system (F8) Options, but it does not allow to login me as "admin". As soon as I select the language and keyboard input mode he asks me user name and password. The strange thing is there are two options for the username "admin" and the other is 'Office' (I did not have any accounts with these names). I read an article on the Dell (my pc manufacturer) website that said to log on as an administrator. But the Recovery Options does not give me access as 'admin' for any password I tried. I tried all the standard passwords and password for my account admin on PC (which has not been named admin btw). I also tried to leave it blank, but Recovery Options points out "the user name or password is incorrect" every time. Now, I tried to find a way to work around and reached here

I found a tweak on the Internet to change the registry for a password is not necessary to enter the Recovery Console. The way to remedy this problem is to restore windows.

It is correct. To call the system restore, follow these steps:

    1. Use your repair Windows CD to start the computer in Windows Repair Mode. You will not have a password.
    2. Use the system restore to solve your problem.
    3. Plan in advance and create, test and document a spare, even admin account that you have a spare House key. On behalf of alternatives would easily get around your current situation.

If you do not have a CD to repair Windows, ask a friend to burn you through the control panel / backup and restore.

  • System Recovery Options - no operating system listed, need to load the drivers, but don't know where to find this (Windows Vista 64-bit)

It is a gateway M6866 laptop running Windows Vista 64-bit.

The computer does not start up--gives "BOOTMRG is missing" error at startup.  I'm trying to boot from the 64-bit of Windows Vista recovery disc.  I clicked on the "repair your computer" option, and it shows the computer loading files.  Then the "System Recovery Options" box appears and asks me to select the operating system to fix it.  The problem is that nothing has listed.  It is said that if your OS is not listed click Load Drivers.  I did, but it is said to insert the device installation media, and then click OK to select the driver.  I clicked on OK and then opens a browser window to select the file.

I don't know which file I'm supposed to select here.  I searched online for an answer, and someone told him to go to the computer manufacturer's website and download the driver for RAID controller.  I tried to go to the site of the bridge to find it, but it doesn't seem to be one for Vista 64-bit.

Please please help!  I have to at least be able to extract the files to the hard drive before reinstalling windows.

    Hello

    ·        Have you Configure RAID on the system?

If you have not configured then RAID on the system, I suggest you to disable the RAID/eSATA (SATA improved) in the BIOS. Once you turn off the RAID/eSATA on the system that your basic hard disk should be recognized by the system because it doesn't require any drivers, it will act as an IDE. Once you have disabled the RAID/eSATA then booting into the recovery environment and build the Bootrec and check if the problem is resolved. I suggest you follow the steps mentioned below to rebuild the bootrec.

Rebuild the BCD store by using the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows recovery environment. To do this, follow these steps:

    a. get the Vista installation DVD and pop in your drive.

    b. then restart your computer.

    c. press a key when you are prompted.

    d. Select a language, a time, a currency, and a keyboard or another input method, and then hitNext

    e. click on repair your computer

    f. click the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next

    g. in the System Recovery Options dialog box, click command prompt

    h. type bootrec /rebuildbcd and then press the Enter"" key.

    ·        If Bootrec runs successfully, it will present you with the installation of a Windows directory path. To add the entry in the BCD store, type Yes. A confirmation message appears that indicates the entry has been added successfully.

    ·        If Bootrec cannot findany lack of facilities of Windows, you must remove the BCD store, and then you must re-create it. To do this, type the following commands in the order shown below: (remember to press ENTER after each command)
    bcdedit/export C:\BCD_Backup
    Ren c:\boot\bcd BCD.old
    Bootrec /rebuildbcd

    i. restart the computer.

  • Satellite L755 - 16L - new installation Win7 without recovery option

    Hello...

    I have a Toshiba Satellite L755 - 16L.
I want to re - install windows 7, but recovery option will erase everything... I don t want to use it, I saw a key at the bottom of the laptop for win 7, saying it is oa mea?

So is there a way that I could do without clear all.

    Hello

    Please visit http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm
You will find all the HARD drive recovery facility information and accurate information which will be deleted exactly (see Note).

Product key down means that you bought laptop with preinstalled OS and valid license. This key belongs to the version of the OS preinstalled. Don t think you can use it for the activation of the operating system if you try to install the version of the OS using the Microsoft installation disc.

    > So is there a way that I could do without clear all.
I put t know what do you mean under everything.
If you want to have own pre-installed OS still best option for you is to back up all important data on external device and after installing the OS, you can copy it to computer s portable HARD drive.

  • Satellite A500 - HARD drive recovery option is no longer available at the F8 Menu

    Hello, this my phone trees.
I reset my Satellite A500 and due to a power failure reset did not finish. When I have inexplicable with F8 I can see HARD drive recovery option, and then must log on my account that I did not at all because of the power failure.
Then I installed a copy of Vista retail, hoping to create an account and be able to retrieve from the HARD drive.
PROBLEM! : Now I don't see the "Recovery disk" option at all.
QUESTION: There must be a way to integrate this option in the windows Startmenu (F8). Can someone help me with this issue? I burn the DVD recovery and the recovery partition is still there.
    Thanks in advance.

More big mistake made you ve, it's that you don't l l create recovery DVD such as recommended by Toshiba.

Why you didn t ask how it works before you do anything?
You've misunderstood with username and account.

Now, when you use your own installation, you need to remove the option for installation of HARD drive recovery and the recovery image can be installed with recovery only DVDs.
    Now, you have two options:
-to order the new recovery DVDs or
d ' use the clean install of the OS.

What do you think of this?
To be honest, I think you need to use Windows 7 on this laptop.

I recommend you to install Win7. Download page for all the necessary drivers, you can find and download from Toshiba

If you have more questions or need help please let me know.

  • Re: Equium L40 - 14 l - System recovery option missing

    Hi all

I have an Equium l40 14l that I finally decided needs to be restored "out of the box" status.

I can boot to the system recovery options page, but the widely mentioned drive HARD recovery option has been replaced by the option system restore of full Windows OS.
When I choose it is telling me that is preinstalled files are damaged you can use the recovery dvd - rom product. All I can do is click OK and return to the previous screen.

I ran a few software partitioning and the hidden partition appears. I don't have a disc of recovery with the machine as she had the hidden restore partition.

I don't have a backup when I first booted the machine. I think now that it was a good idea, but as I thought I had the hidden partition to rely on I don't bother.

Ideas if there is a way I can get the system recovery to display HARD drive recovery option?

    Thank you Tom

Cool. Glad to hear this. Now you can remove all the stuff, you don't need and optimize the preinstalled recovery image.

    Good luck.

  • Satellite L655 - recover Toshiba Recovery option

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite L655 with Windows Home Premium 64-bit. I recently had problems with my operating system. Unfortunately, I didn't know about HARD drive recovery option, so I just reinstalled an OS with Windows 7 installation CD (I have a).

Now I know about HARD drive recovery and I would get my system to it's State of origin "Toshiba", but there is nothing "Toshiba HDD recovery" more in the recovery menu (F8 at startup)

I still have the folder HDDRecovery on my drive D:\ with od 7.5 GB data. But how can I get it back? What should I install to have the "Toshiba Recovery" point back again in the recovery environment?

    Thank you
    Ivan

    Hey Buddy,

The Toshiba HDD Recovery feature is available on the preinstalled operating system. If you have installed another version he s not available anymore.

So in your case, you have the Toshiba Recovery disk to restore to factory settings. Did you create the Toshiba Recovery disk before installing Windows 7?
Usually this can be done with the box settings because the Toshiba recovery media creator is preinstalled. This means that you need some blank discs to create the recovery disk.

If you don t have the recovery disc, you can order a new by clicking here:
    https://backupmedia.Toshiba.EU/landing.aspx

  • Loop system recovery options

This morning Satellite 100 my wife running Windows Vista itself got in a loop of the system, with absolutely no discernible way out recovery. I have so for you guys to see if anyone has had the same problem.

First of all, the system stops (battery problem). It restarted, he and the Vista loading got a message box with the "System Recovery Options" section, just an OK button and the message "Cannot load this program click OK to restart" or something to that effect. Something off the machine.
I tried F8 at startup upwards and all options in the recovery (including repair system tools) menu restart Vista and get the same message.
I've searched the Toshiba support site and found nothing.

I have a disc of recovery but that would reformat the hard drive and it has a lot of things not saved.
I suspect it's to go into Recovery Mode and find a disk on the "hidden" partition error So, I just want to stop making so that I can start the machine and backup files. Any ideas?

    Hey Buddy,

You can start Windows in safe mode?

I think in the worst case it s necessary to reinstall Windows if it doesn t start more. I mean there is nothing you can do

I m wondering that you didn't make a backup of the important files, you can save if you put the HARD drive into an external HARD drive enclosure. Then you can connect to another computer and make a backup before reinstalling Windows.

  • Satellite C650D - pressing F8 I can't find toshiba recovery option

    Hello

I have laptop Toshiba Satellite C650D I want to know that when I go into recovery menu by pressing F8 I can't find the toshiba recovery option as before installing windows.

The hidden recovery disk which is 10 GB maintains 10 GB data
How can I access it to retrieve the parameters of my factoryt?
Now what I can rocover hidden partition or it is corrupted?
So corrupt where can I get the recovery of the Asia-Pacific region online backup?

I found the link on the forum to buy the recovery disk, but it is for euorope I want to find it in the Asia-Pacific region?

    Hello

If you are not able to recover the laptop using the recovery of HARD drive, then you will need to retrieve the laptop using the recovery disk.
It seems that you didn't create the disc in the just past? Well, it was not a good idea

However, the Satellite C650 is European notebook series. Right?
In this case, you will need the drive recovery for the series of Europeans, and this can be ordered here:

  • Need of recovery of the Satellite A110-228 DVDs

I need a recovery dvd for this laptop because he won 't longer boot.
    Can I order or download?
    Thank you

Your Satellite is quite old and I think that you can not order more. Recovery image is not downloadable, so this option is also not a solution for you.

You can try to contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask them if they have this disc.
What you can do is to install a clean operating system. All the necessary drivers, tools and utilities that you can find on Toshiba download page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > download & support.

If you have any other questions you are welcome.
