HP Pavilion dv5237cl Notebook intermittently Shuts Down Due to a thermal event, fan stops working

Basics:

HP Pavilion dv5237cl

Windows XP SP3 32 bit

PCMCIA SATA card

1 TB WD Scorpio blue HARD drive

Computer laptop with 200mm fan cooling pad

Some USB devices

Latest drivers and BIOS

Note: This problem also occurs with Windows 8.

For the last year my HP Pavilion dv5237cl turned off because of the fan does not work.  I have never seen the term "Thermal event" displayed prior to or on restart.  Usually just abruptly, he died.   I also saw a few BSOD that are not very descriptive to pointing to what the cause was and may be not related.  The laptop usually just stops working and goes out, maybe once every couple of days if it is caught in time.  I HAV been using a Defragmenter memory to help as appropriate the BSOD were due to low memory resources.  I am tracking the temperature of the CPU and have noticed that it is high, when the fan is not working.  I saw up to 85 C and I'm not sure but think that the laptop stops at 100 ° C.  The fan is usually always go at least to a low hum.  Usually, on startup, I get a strong burst of activity fan and if this isn't the case I'm clued in to a fan, not to exploit the condition.

If I take a PIN regularly and carefully stitch it through the opening in the fan and cause rotate the blades of the fan, the fan will usually start working.  It sometimes takes a few tries.  I noticed the fan poll as it is sometimes wobbling and resembling a noise of ball bearing, but I think it is also maybe a hinged fan.  Some hopping may be due to the time that I used the pin code.  Fan usually settled in a low purr and lately with some ball light bering sound, maybe just wobble.  If I'm not there when the fan stops working or do not notice to try to remedy with a PIN, then the laptop stops due to excessive heat.

Things I've tried or thought of trying:

-J' I used canned and out air / blow accumulated debri from inside the vacuum cleaner to suck up and cleaned the vents.

-J' I add the cooler that keeps time less around 5 c.  The laptop temperature was 55 to 62 C this winter.

-Install the latest drivers and BIOS.

-Tried to use Windows 8.

-J' bought a replacement fan but did not want to disassemble the laptop to install it and also not be

not know if it is really a material fan or a control sensor or other hardware problem or software problem.

Thanks in advance.  Help to solve this problem would be appreciated.

I understand that your laptop stops due to overheating.

Given the behavior and how the fan no longer works and must be "started" once again, this does not sound like a fan failure.  Page 5-60 of this guide details the process of replacing the fan and the heatsink in Notepad.  If this is something you'd rather not do it yourself, you could contact a local PC shop for the fan and the heat sink replaced.

  • HP Pavilion G6 2252so closing down due to the high heat (fan was cleaned up)

I'm trying to fix a G6 model due to heat issues. The laptop is about 1 year. From what I have read on the internet, it is mainly due to the accumulation of dust. I told the owner that this was not covered by the warranty and offered to help with the cleaning of the fan. I completely cleaned the fan (incl. Remove the fan cover) and change the thermal paste on the processor. The problem persists. With the Speccy program, I read time of departure. for CPU to 90 degrees celsius. It's very different when the laptop shuts down. Sometimes it happends fast, at other times, he can run for hours. Even if the processor is completely cold, you can stop even before windows starts correctly. I managed to see the temperatures over 150 degrees celsius which should be alarming high. Even 90 degrees seems VERY high to me. The air blown by the fan seems not hot. It is only moderately hot and adjusts it fan speed according to the temperature. He begins to rise from more than 100 degrees. 90 to 99 degrees it runs pretty slow.

If I try to go into the BIOS, I have only seconds before the closed laptop.

From my point of view, he owes me two temperature sensors not working not properly, or the manipulation of temperature sensors is misinterperet, or simply the cooling system which is default. I don't know how the cooling system. The seat has a cobber lead wires for the heater and the fan. The tube contains a fluid? The liquid could somehow have vapourised?

Be warm and helping the owner canceled its guarantee, now that I've had the dismantled oidissement?

I tried to havn't updated the BIOS, because I'm afraid I'm going to brick the laptop, if it goes out during the process.

Where is the temperature sensor placed on the Board? Is the sencot'en CPU built in or is it place in over/under it?

How can I help the owner more far.

    Best regards

Hello again. I had actually read what you have written, but included these pages although I knew you did a large part of him he was already comprehensive, but also a reference to the point in case there was something on the picture in one of the documents that you may have missed, as a task to clean. I also realized that the BIOS update has been in the process as well, but guess you wouldn't do that, according to your previous statement, and that's understandable. I have not updated the BIOS, either when the PC has tendency to overheat and stop in the process (and brick it).

In addition, there is the part about hardware failure analyses. From what you describe, it seems to me that the fan does not work as it should and is the likely source of the problem. If the unit is running too hot that you mention and the outgoing air flow is not so hot then there isn't enough air stream passes through. If instead it turns out to be a sensor problem, which is most likely going to require a replacement of the Commission.

I have included the Service of Guide so that you can see how disassemble the unit safely if something had been missed in your household, and also, so you should have access to the parts list, if it turns out that the material is the source of the problem, since it includes the reference numbers for various sections that are replaceable by the customer including the fan and the heat sink (, motherboard, etc.) I have also included in part to answer your question on heat sensors that you request that are not listed as replaceable parts by the discreet.

With respect to the copper pipes, they are units normally sealed with a small amount of distilled water inside at less than the normal pressure to reduce the boiling point of water, sort of way, it is meant to vaporize to help dissipate the heat. The only reason why the liquid inside would be gone is if the seal in the hose is damaged. If this is the case then it should be replaced.

Now at this point, other than hardware problems as possible, as the system of cooling or the motherboard, which might need replacement, you can also look at the possibility of a cooling plate to increase the airflow. I myself for one of my laptops that I have left my son to use. He was very helpful while working in a warmer room in summer. It could be a quick thing to try so to make reliable unit until the likely hardware problem is resolved.

Finally if you don't find that it is the material that needs to be replaced you should try calling the technical support to the 800-474-6836 line. • HP Pavilion 6510: Start Menu Shut Down tab always indicates that the updates are available

The Shut Down on the start menu tab always indicates that there ae updates available.  This persists even after manually searching for and downloading updates.

Then Microsoft Fixit has been executed, the computer has restarted, and 5 updates have been installed.  But the start menu still indicates that there are updates available.

    This could be the cause?

How this should be dealt with?

Is there some updates that aren't installed properly, and if so this could affect the security of the computer?

  • HP Pavilion dv6 notebook intermittent failure of keyboard

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 notebook, 1 year old.  Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, 8 GB of Ram.  I have an external wired keyboard (Logitech K120) and a separate wireless mouse.  Frequently in the past few weeks, I noticed that the keyboard will fail once the laptop worked for a while, usually when the laptop is in "sleep".  I hear by fails, * TWO * external and the internal keyboard.  Nor will respond to any strikes at all.  Mouse control is fine, even when the keyboard has failed.

If I rebooted the system, it works well again.

I think that when I saw this before, I tried to disconnect the external keyboard, but that doesn't matter, because the integrated keyboard does not work or the other.

I guess this could result from certain automatic Windows driver installation or upgrade?  Does anyone have advice for the diagnosis or verification of current drivers?

I have just closed the lid of the laptop, to force the machine mode 'sleep'.  When I opened the lid, the system has taken over, I can log in via the scanner digital, the mouse works but the keyboard has disappeared.  I had to reboot the system, update this message.

    fmaurais,

    Try the following steps:

Control Panel-> hardware and sound-> Power Options-> change Plan (of the current plan selected) settings-> change the advanced power settings-> parameter of selective suspension of USB-> Disable (both)

Control Panel-> hardware and sound-> Power Options-> change Plan (of the current plan selected) settings-> change the advanced power settings-> PCI-Express-> Link State Power Management-> Disable (both)

I read on a Microsoft page that is who can solve some problems "out of sleep."

    computerwhiz90,

I'll see if I can get a model of your laptop to see if I can reproduce the problem.

If please enter the BIOS and press F5, it asks if you want to set the default setting, press YES. Press F10, then enter it will re-start the comp. Be in the BIOS and see if the computer stops.

Guess you didn't do all the hw of the stock changes.

  • My computer will not sleep, the display shuts off for a while but the fan still works and the keyboard lights stay on, and then eventually he dies just

Imen quite so much as the title, when I try to put my computer to sleep the screen turns off but the computer is still running. My computer is a HP pavilion dv6 is a little more than 3 years. He used to do whenever a while, but now it's every time I try to pause. I'll close the top cover, but the fan still works, the hp on the lid logo light remains lit, and if I reopen it cover the power light is always on and the lights on the keyboard caps lock and wireless keys. The same actions occur when I try to put it to sleep manually (from the start menu). It does not at all I have to do another that now hold power, but even when I do nothing, it will stay here like this for awhile and then just turn off completely.

When it starts up, it gives me the options to start in safe mode or start normally, and when I am connected and it gives me the "windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown", I see that there is a minidump file in windows that has something to do with it. I tried to search for the file and the problem together, and then each separately, but nothing I've seen described really my problem, so I thought I should just ask on my problem.

I read what made other people, changing advanced power settings, changing the media settings, etc. and did those things, but to no avail. It's not a huge deal, because I can just turn off my computer whenever I'm done with it for now, but I don't know if it's a bad omen for the future of my poor computer. So if someone could give me a hand with this point in mind, I'd be very happy. Let me know if provide more details (OS, processor, my favorite color, social security number, etc.) that would make it easier to solve. Thank you
Also, either by the way, if this is in the wrong forum topic, please let me know.

If you use a wireless keyboard or mouse to your computer, these items can keep your computer enter standby mode automatically because they constantly send a signal to the system, thus preventing downtime. An optical mouse (that changes color) causing a similar problem.

  • Drop-down menu of Firefox address bar Sporatically stops working

I had this problem for about a year and some parts of the year are worse than others, and now, according to the latest update of Firefox, this problem is at its absolute worst.

The drop-down menu in the address bar of Firefox sometimes stops displaying my newest and popularly seen the websites that I have visited. Whenever I have updated Firefox, the problem goes away and he used to stay at the gap to end of weeks in a row, but now the drop stops working almost whenever I close Firefox after this last update a few days earlier.

This problem persists in the Mode of Firefox safe and apparently appears randomly any plugins/extensions I can I have installed/enabled.

I am at a complete loss here and would appreciate any help because this drop in the address bar is one of my favorite features in any browser, and it becomes annoying to have to reinstall the plugins more (when I use the Sync feature to reinstall the plugins, the problem is even worse).

For problems with the file places.sqlite (bookmarks, historical) database, you can check in the Firefox profile folder.

If the extension of Maintenance of places cannot repair the database places.sqlite file remove all places.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder to rebuild the database places.sqlite latest JSON Firefox backup in the folder bookmarkbackups.

  • HP Pavilion Notebook PC shuts down without warning

    Hello

I've had my HP Pavilion g6-2230sa Notebook PC for over a year now, and just recently, it began to die without any warning when it gets to 30-40% battery. Before today, he used to tell me when he reached 11%, so I had time to save everything, but this has prevented. I tested the battery for calibration and it went, I have also completed all the updates it says he needs, I don't know what next, as I keep losing my job with his off switch. Any help would be great!

    Hi suse-mem:

I suspect your battery can accept a charge, but does not take to this accusation under the load on the computer.  If you have followed the other suggestions... and are convinced that the fan and heatsink are completely free of dust... then it would probably be a good idea to replace the battery as the next step in troubleshooting.

  • Should which driver I download for Pavilion dv5237cl Notebook?

HP site shows no driver on my dv5237cl I just installed 10 32 bit Windows on.  Missing drivers and hardware for audio ID and the mass storage controller.  Any help would be appreciated.  Laptop is in good condition and the other drivers seem to be well, just two missing drivers or a workaround.

    Hello:

Try this driver for the mass storage controller...

This package contains the driver for the Texas Instruments PCI (PCI - TI) 6 x 12/7 x 12 Cardbus (card reader) for the notebook models and operating systems.

    File name: sp35309.exe

You have to hope that the audio driver XP works for your PC support page.

Install manually if auto installation does not work.

This package contains the driver Conexant high definition Audio Chip in the operating systems listed.

    Hello

Try to connect the laptop to the external monitor to check if pictures or anything else appears on the second monitor?
You can also try to use the FN + F5 combination to check if the display will change back to the internal display.

But look, man, if you are not successful then I guess there must be a serious hardware problem and only the laptop technician might know what's wrong.

Very slow computer.  Now started to 'cut' (not the power of the it) after 30 minutes of use.  When turned on again there is an alarm that goes off and then a message click on enter to continue.  As a result, the computer turns as usual.  What is causing the machine to cut and what can be done to fix this?

Overheating.  When it reaches a critical temperature it closes instantly down to avoid damage.  If it's a laptop with care use compressed air to blow into the pipe exhaust and heat.
