HP Pavilion dv6-6108us: why HP has locked my product key?

I'm trying to reinstall Windows 7 on my laptop HP using ISO available on Microsoft site, as my current Windows became defective after 5 years of use (Note: this laptop was purchased with Windows pre-installed). To download the file, I need to check my key product of Windows 7; which I documented. However, after you have submitted the information, I received an error message indicating that Microsoft has a problem with my key. I contacted Microsoft Support and they told me that my product key has been locked by the manufacturer of my computer (HP).

I have no idea how the have unlocked, and I don't know WHY it was locked, but I'd like to be able to use my existing key to do a clean install of my OS... I am aware that this laptop is old and out of warranty, but it was perfectly fine until recently. So, what reason is there that HP would lock my Windows 7 product activation key and how would I be able to use it?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Hello

First of all, you can NOT use an OEM Key Code to activate a retail installation. You need the OEM of Windows version. In this case, you can contact HP in your country to order a set of recovery.

Kind regards.

    2. I bought my laptop in 2009. It came with Windows 7 Edition home premium. Now, I don't have a product key to reinstall the same copy of windows 7. Also, I am not able to connect to the laptop because of that I won't be able to retrieve the product key from your laptop. The sticker on the back of the laptop is not more readable. Looks like a bad HDD. Your product key of WIn7 which carried out the sticker on the underside of your laptop. You must get the HP HP recovery or 3rd party disc to restore your system to the rear. And there's a good chance your HARD drive is bad and must be replaced.

  • Why do I need a product key update

Why do I need a product key update. Is this Microsofts ensure everyone makes use of the free upgrade to windows 10 of which I don't really care to do?

The free update to Windows 10 is only for computers that are running only a genuine activated Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 installation.

If this isn't the case, you will need to purchase a full license if the app get Windows 10 determines that your installation is not authentic.

If you believe that have a license of Windows 7 genuine, then you could try to reactivate before the upgrade:

"About MSDN or TechNet product key
They are genuine Microsoft product keys, they are in fact retail licenses, but it is expected for a product specific Microsoft Software Developer Network (MSDN) and TechNet channel for professionals who pay a subscription. The main objective is for evaluation purposes. The big thing to their subject, unlike Microsoft, MSDN or TechNet keys evaluation software expires. Because the agreement by virtue of which the subscription is provided is a single license, none of the software should be distributed outside of it. Although its $50,000 worth of licenses, it is for one person only for use and no one else. Unfortunately, no matter the conditions of license, people still abuse of the program, two key product gift or sell on auction sites. Microsoft it issues licences in good faith that customer will not do it, but I guess human nature win on.

In your case, what has probably happened is, you bought a license MSDN key, which carries up to 10 activations unlike packed full of retail licenses which carry 1 activation. The person who sold it to you probably sold to 10 other people. Somewhere along the way, one of these people could have installed on a second system activated, because it went past 10 activation threshold, Microsoft has detected that he was abused and blocked the key for later use. »

You use a KMS host illegal that was detected and blocked.

OK, so I had Windows 7 Professional for about 2 years, being authentic, so he decides to not be authentic and is blocked by windows. I bought the key back from some site online and it was sealed and new, so I don't understand why this is happening.

KMS stands for key management server. This means it's a copy of volume license of Windows which is sold only to companies making large deployments of Windows. Copy of Windows volume license cannot be purchased off-the-shelf or individual licenses. It also requires a KMS host with an organization.

In addition, KMS licenses must be reactivated to 180 days. It seems that Microsoft has detected an illegal KMS host has been setup, so it has been blocked, make your copy of 'useless '.

You need to invest in a genuine license.

    Hello

You can also borrow and use a DVD of Vista from Microsoft (retail disk and license OEM System Builders), which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

  • Pavilion dv6 7010tx No sound at all, put Mute key completely ineffective

    Hello

A few days ago, when I woke up my HP Pavilion laptop dv6 7010tx (running windows 8 pro 64-bit) of sleep, I noticed that he had lost all the sounds. Audio tracks cannot be played on any media player, videos play on intermittently without any audio and there is no sound regardless of the program or application running. Restart the portable computer is not the problem.

Also should be noted that the f11 key (mute) does nothing. The LED on the key is off, the volume indication appears on the screen because it didn't then change volume keys f9, f10, however it shows no mute / mute off-label as it should when working properly. I have troubleshooted the problem and I am sure that the sound card is not a problem. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks in advance!

    Hello

    Try the following.

Open windows control panel, open Windows Update, select "View update history" in the left pane and then select "Installed updates" link in the next window.

Locate the KB2962407 update, right click and choose uninstall.  Once completed, restart the computer, open windows control panel, open Windows Update and select "Check for updates".  You will see the update that you have uninstalled just offered once again - right click and select "Hide update".

After that you can or may not need to remove and reload the Audio driver - if you do, the driver IDT HD Audio, you need is on the link below.
