HP Pavilion dv6 and HP Remote (RC6)?

Hello members of the HP Forum,.

I use a HP Pavilion dv6 laptop.

Recently, I had the hard drive replaced. The computer used to have Windows Vista on it. Now, my computer, which is the age of 4 or 5, a Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.

I have a small remote that came with the laptop. I think the model number is RC6, but this is incorrect. It is a small device and is quite oddly shaped.

I wonder what steps I must take to get to this remote working again, now that my computer has no memory of him.

I did some research on Google and forum navigation and determined that my computer recognizes the device (it shows in Device Manager), but it does not. I've been testing with Windows Media Player, but I don't know if it's supposed to work with this software.

I hope someone out there can offer advice and a solution.

Thanks in advance.

Kieran.

Hello again CaptainKman,

I think that the reason why this does not work is as you have it posted, you're off to one side during use. As the document in my stats of previous posts "the remote control requires a path of line of sight between the infrared lens on the remote control and the infrared lens on the computer.". This would imply that you can't stand to one side you are trying to do.

Even though, just a thought infrared is a light and reflected light. You can try to put a reflective surface somewhere on the far side of the room to see if you can bounce the light beam to hit the receiver. Not a technical solution, I know, but it might work.

I hope that I have answered your questions to your satisfaction. Thanks again for the display on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

Recently bought the Pavilion dv6 that I updated to Ultimate. When trying to install Bitlocker, I get the TPM message must be present. I have had a go at "Start" - "all programs" - "Accessories"-"run" - tpm.msc. This States: TPM was not found check tpm 1.2 is present and active in the BIOS (or words to that effect). How can I check if TPM is present and how do I enable it in the BIOS?

What I find really curious, is that the HARD disk is partitioned into C, D (recovery), E (HP tools) and Bitlocker is available on D and E, but not c!

The current version of your system BIOS are located at the following link.

The Fn + Esc screenshot you provided earlier lists your current BIOS as F.1A. It's the most recent BIOS, so you're good to go on that front.

By some funny/compliants rules, almost all laptops have only ports HDMI output, including your machine. No, it of impossible, you can't connect out - to - PC, do not get anything.

  • Pavilion dv6: cannot get Windows 10 to work for more than a few days before video fails

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 with two graphics cards (Mobile Intel (r) Graphics and Raedon (TM) HD 6490 M). I installed the new Windows 10 twice and had a lot of success for about three or four days, then the display did not work. I was able both to restore Windows 7 but I want to take advantage of the free upgrade to Windows 10. Does anyone know of an incompatibility with my HP Pavilion dv6 and 10 Windows?

It could be windows update tries to give you updates of adapter bad display every time. You have updated automatically whenever you install windows 10? If so, update the manual and ignore all updates that show the AMD, ATI and INTEL. I had the same problem but not with windows 10, I had it on windows 7 and 8.1 with the same computer, I didn't go to http://support.amd.com/en-us/download . Then select the automatically detect and install download and run it. If the screen turns off right after finished installing your drivers, then it must be the war video card causing problems.

Maybe it's your video drivers are fighting eachother for domination, when the screen messes up, try to hook up an external monitor, if your computer has an additional port. Let us know.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 keyboard works not properly

    Hello

I use a HP Pavilion dv6 laptop running Windows 7 for about a year and a half.  Recently (I can't say exactly when) I noticed that my keyboard does not work properly.  There is nothing huge, but sometimes I have to push a button twice before she will comply, or it will be delayed in its response.  Another thing is that I originally used to have to hold the function key and press the space bar at the same time turn off the light that surrounds the touchpad. Now, I just simply press the function key (not now) and, no matter how many other keys I press on in the meantime, the next time that I press the space bar, the light turns off.  It's both distracting and frustrating because I need to press the space bar to operate normally.

My drivers are all up to date.  I tried to remove them and reinstall them. I changed a few settings in the Bios, and then reset the default settings, all to nothing does not.  I would appreciate any idea or you guys can offer me solutions.

    Thank you!

    Hi El Nacho,

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. I read your thread on your HP Pavilion dv6 and keyboard problems. Here is a link to uninstall the keyboard. Restart the computer after the uninstall, it must be reinstalled automatically.

Have you tried to take a little air to the keyboard to see if maybe it's dust or debris which initially are intermittent use?

    Thank you.

Please tell me what I need to know, in layman's terms, to buy what I need.

    Hello

Your computer is a HP Pavilion dv6-6112nr laptop PC:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02996687

    1. WiFi: your machine was built around 2011 so the wifi upgrade is out of the question. You can use the USB dongle if you wish.

2 for the RAM: your device supports 16 GB max (it has 4 GB from the beginning). Please see page 66 of the following manual for part number. You can buy HP or elsewhere.

    Hi @Dawid531!

This ID failure usually indicates that your HARD drive has failed and needs to be replaced or there is a problem with the SATA controller on the card. There is a great topic on how to resolve this error, so if you want you can take a look:

  • Pavilion dv6-6c14nr: launch of the browser and redirecting on several occasions

For the last two days, I had a problem frustrating with my browser/computer - the browser will be repeated launch or redirect to the home page.  To be more precise, if the focus is on an active browser window (in other words, if this is the app that I use or this is the last application, I clicked on), the browser will redirect to the home screen.  If, however, the emphasis is on another application, a new browser window will be launched.  This problem occurs regardless of the browser that I use (and when a new browser window opens, it is my default browser, Chrome, and it opens to my home page, a new empty tab).  When I was working in Visual Studio, it opens the browser which belongs to VS, then repeatedly redirected to the home page by default for this browser. The frequency with which this happens varies, once every few minutes, at most of the time (more than once per second) - I got 40 + windows browser in less than a few minutes. I removed all of the Add-Ins and Extensions, under the assumption that one of them could be the cause of the problem - no luck.

I read similar messages on the HP Board by people who appear to have been able to solve this problem, despite the attempt of everything, including the relocation of the browsers and even reformat the hard disk!  Someone suggested that fixing file hosts worked for her, but I checked my and it seems to be as it should.

In fact, I wonder if this could be a hardware problem any. Seems not intuitive for me, of course, but here's the thing... a few days previously, when booting, I saw some kind of error about my fan works not properly.  I installed Speccy (by Piriform) to monitor the conditions of my system and noticed that my computer has been running hot from time to time. So, I know this sounds nuts, but I put an ice pack under my laptop (well, two trays full of ice in an oversized Ziplock bag) and the problem seems to have slowed down a bit.  Also, I noticed that this problem seems quite widespread on HP Pavilion machines.

Is it possible to fix this? Or will I stuck buying a new laptop? Although laptops are really cheap now, I really can't afford it. I suspect that the replacement of the fan would cost almost as much as a new laptop. But I can't work on it like that! Any ideas or suggestions?

    Thank you!

    Traci

Hello and thanks for your advice and comments.  After reviewing the comments posted to some old messages to people with similar problems, I think I understand the problem, but also a solution in the short term...

Apparently a fan problem is originally the computer overheats a little, and the heat is initially somehow the computer thinks that the shortcut for 'WWW-Home' is pressed several times (not sure of the mechanics behind this, but the shortcut implies the F5 key, which is located in one of the hottest areas of the computer).  The warmer the computer becomes, is more frequently as she considers the shortcut key display press and more frequently a new browser is launched.  So, a quick solution to the problem - disable the shortcut key (by editing the registry or by using a software like KeyTweak - the code for the key is 144, btw). Of course, I'll replace my fan in the next few days (I have a bag of ice below pending), but it's nice to have the use of my computer until there!

Based on the other posts, I've read, this problem seems quite common for my laptop model - a HP Pavilion dv6 - 6 c 14nr.  Most of the messages I read involved HP pavilions, and many of them were a HP Pavilion dv6 or similar.  Others with the same problem seem to have experienced worsening much more that what I have - many of them actually reformat the hard drive when nothing else worked - and if this still does not solve the problem for them, they got rid of their HP laptop. Perhaps HP can save this information as a 'known problem' and view the Guide somewhere for support staff and users to easily find?

    Thanks again!

  • Pavilion dv6 - 7095ca: no boot device - insert boot disk and press any key

Thanks for your help and please excuse my bad English.
Please check item 7, if you're in a hurry. This is the point with my Pavilion DV6 - 7095-CA:

    (1) the operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit), the provided original with my 7095CA Pavilion, more updates HP until 2013, and all Windows updates until July 2015.

    (2) now I can't access the operating system and I have no interface UEFI. I can see that I press F2 at startup, just a test simple disk in BIOS f.0Une (the test shows that the disc is OK)

    (3) return in 2013 it took a drive failure. I did replace the disk and reinstall original Win7, all updates, including the HPS, win7 updates and all my personal software.

    (4) at this time, I bought a spare hard drive and did a complete copy of the disc using Partition Wizard bootable cd. The second disc has been tested and worked perfectly, with all of my personal software on this subject.

So I have 2 HDs identical with the same system on both drives, fully working and tested.

    (5) a few days ago I came across the HP website and made a few updates, including the BIOS f.0Une (the last BIOS update, was of course).

    (6) after BIOS update ran, I received the message "no boot device - insert boot disk and press any key".

    (7) I couldn't solve the problem, so I did remove the hard drive and install my backup drive, which lay in a dry place without danger from 2013.

    (8) I turned on the computer and got the same message "No boot device - insert boot disk and press any key", and I couldn't find any way to solve this problem.

Now I'm doing a new installation on a third HD everything works very well, so far, in the new facility and I will never buy HP again.
