HP Pavilion Dv6, missing recover disk

Yes my hard drive Samsung failed 2 weeks ago and I bought a replacement to settle. The problem is that it does not come with my Windows 7. When I bought the laptop, it has not come with a recovery disk to install from. I contacted Microsoft and gave them the product key on the back of the laptop and they told me that the key was invalid. I was always getting Windows updated 2 weeks ago, so it may be invalid. They told me I had to contact HP for the recovery disc to install it on my new hard drive. If I can't help I'm going to buy a Mac. I just hear that the problems aren't there I have with Windows.

I know that my sticker on the laptop is good. So I can't understand why the product key appears invalid Windows technical support. Help, please. If I can just recover my OS on and may try to recover lost data on my old hard drive.

Thanks for any help. I don't want to have to buy a new OS when I paid for portable software and it was preinstalled.

You are the very welcome.

Micro$ oft is no help most of the time.

It's a shame that HP doesn't provide us customers with recovery disks.

However, they provide us with the ability to create a game by reading the info on the link below (which of course is now useless for you).

http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01867124

Now as much as to try to recover data from bad hard disk...

You can invest a few dollars in a drive enclosure external hard usb for laptop, put the disc in the box and plug it into a usb port on a working PC and see if you can read the disc.

    Hello:

    Yes you can.

Here are the instructions and you should be all set.

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Or use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. Link and instructions below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB compilation method.

    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/HTML/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

    @SorryHPbuyer

I don't know what model said you it not available for, but HP still stocks recovery disc for many machines to Vista (not all), most Windows 7 and of course Windows 8 machines.

I guess you have a XP or Vista early model? In this scenario, you should be able to get here:

    Hello

Unfortunately, HP is a download option to do this, but you can order a set of replacement recovery disks using the link below - cost can vary a little where in the world you live, but they are generally inexpensive.

    Order HP recovery disks.

If you have a problem with this link, see if you can order them directly from HP.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

I went on www.best2serve.com to find the disc said, but my country did not appear in the section of the country. Can someone tell me how can I get a disk recovery in the land of mu, having a lot of problem with my graphic card, why I wanted to buy the recovery disk.

    Thanks for the help.

There is nothing I can do about it in this forum.

  • Pavilion dv6: create recovery disk media fails

The disk is failing - takes forever to start and the PC hangs when I try to access it using Explorer. I have another drive, removed the PC drive and mounted in a USB SATA disk drive.

I can see the recovery partition, there look OK, contains a lot of files, among them a 22Gig. A file 'bootmgr' in the root and a startup directory, especially of the WIM file.

Can I use this partition to create a bootable USB drive that can recover my OS on this new hard drive?

I know that I can buy a recovery kit, but if I use it, I'll save some money and the day 6-10 wait as the press kit...

Waiting with hope in my eyes

    Hello:

Use this guide to learn how to create a recovery media:

    http://h20564.www2.HP.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docid=emr_na-c01867124&DocLang=en&docLocale=en_US&JumpID=reg_r1002_usen_c-001_title_r0004

It only works with the hard drive in the PC.

Here's a way you can reinstall W7 by using the product key of W7 25 characters on the bottom of your PC case.

Make your own plain W7 x 64 installation media.

Here is the link to the download site of Microsoft for the W7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1 ISO file.

    http://msft.digitalrivercontent.net/win/X17-24209. ISO Windows 7 Home Premium x 64 English

Make sure you get all the 3. XX GB of the file to download.  Sometimes it reports 'Download complete', but you do not have the entire file.

Burn the file on a DVD using the option of the program of your burner burn DVD file ISO then the DVD is bootable.

Or you can use this tool to transfer the ISO to a flash USB 4 GB or DVD drive.  The tool also performs the bootable media.

Then install the drivers and software available that you need your PC support and driver page.

  • Pavilion DV6 3300se recovery disk

    Hello

I lost my rear drive for my laptop, is there a way to get a link for windows and HP support apps with it?.

    Thanks in advance.

There is no download link available for the operating system and applications HP.

You will need to buy a set of HP recovery disks or a partner of HP.

Usually the cost is approximately USD $25,00. It's much cheaper than buying an installation DVD.

bit of a unique situation here. help an old friend of 65. However, I fear that she has removed the tile model # do not know what it was because I can not find ANYWHERE on the laptop. • HP Pavilion dv6: System recoovery after replacing the HD because of the disk hard 301 error

I have problems with the original of my HP Pavilion dv6 PC hard drive portable. I get an alert (SMART disk error 301) every time that I reboot, but I can still load my Windows 7.

I just bought a new hard drive (SSD SATA3), but I would like to recover my original OS using my license key.

How can I do? Should I create a partition on the new disk (D, copy the contents of my RECOVERY disc and use Esc + F11 after reboot?) Do I need a recovery CD/DVD? In this case, can I create one of my system?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Drive smart error 301 indicated fall drive hard/failed hard drives

If you have recovery disks, no need for product key, insert the disc after replaced by the new fair SSD & insert the recovery disks to reinstall everything, including the recovery partition.

You can also order HP recovery discs

You must ensure that the size of the SSD is equal to or greater than the size of the previous HARD drive to perform successfully the recovery discs recovery.

If you have not created recovery disks, you can create one - http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01867418

Back up all your personal data now first.

  • Pavilion dv6: hard disk gets stuck in a "loop", the private resources applications

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 (dv6-6145dx) with 4 GB of RAM and Windows 7 x 64 installed, 500 Gb HD (Hitachi , 40% brand free).  It worked very well for a time very, very long time.  Recently installed Office 365 month last for professional use, which I was concerned might be a resource hog, but usually works very well.  I also AVAST! Antivirus Pro is installed.

Last week, I started noticing a strange problem that I had not seen before.  Some applications have become desensitized.  I noticed the hard drive light was constantly.  So I tried to close some applications (including Outlook), thinking that I was running resources.  But the deadlock problem continues.

Listening to the hard drive, I could hear this "stuck in a loop.  Something like "click-[bunch of quick clicks] - click-click-[break].  Repeats every 2 seconds.  Continues to go on and on.  If I leave the computer alone for about 15 ~ 20 minutes, I discover it has recovered.  But once I run the intensive program of any disk, this repeats itself.  It doesn't matter if it's a 3rd team application or system (such as the launch of Event Viewer).

To try to limit this, I started in safe mode with network.  I thought that if it was driver related, it wouldn't happen.  I launch the event viewer and still, the loop of the hard drive goes.  All gloomy.

My antivirus is up to date. I ran a full scan of the system (F2) and no errors.  I ran the monitor resources and Process Explorer in the hope of identifying what that either method was this... couldn't see just guilty.  I also created a new user and logged in with this account... has always been able to experience this problem.  It is therefore not associated user account.

I'm at my wit's end.  I am grateful that I have another computer I can use, but this should not be the case.

Anyone who is familiar with this kind of hard disk behavior consumes resources?

"If you keep an open mind, life will give you more opportunities."

I ran another system test and eventually got more details:

    "Disk hard Test" failed

    "Fast hard disk 1" (303)

    "Complete hard drive 1" (305)

OK, so from what I've found, it's a serious error means that the hard drive has failed.

He is a computer 4 years.  I never had a hard disk failure in a laptop before, and I had many laptops up to nearly 8 years, without any hard drive problem.  The drive inside is manufactured by Hitachi... they don't exactly have the best reputation.  Anyway, all the research that I have met never goes into detail as to what might have caused the failure and if some readers have a reliability problem.  The answer is always "you need to replace your hard drive."

Anyway, I will not try to diagnose it further.  I send my laptop in for repair (still under warranty - exhausted soon, phew!).

  • HP Pavilion DV6 6053ea - SSD SATA III HARD disk? & HARD drive space gone?

    Hello

I have a HP Pavilion DV6 6053ea. It works fairly well, but I think I have an SSD would really speed up the loading of programs and start etc. I'm not so sure that the upgrade. I read on a thread if I had Port SATA 1 6 Gbps Supported or SATA Port 0 6 Gbps then my cell phone was good for SATA III. Is this the case? Joined a program hwinfo32 image, can you check if my phone would support SATA III?

The other issue is my HD. My laptop says I have 750GB HD coming to about 700 GB after formatting. But my laptop seems to have only a total of 350 GB with all sectors added together. Where is the space?

    Hello

Yes, your laptop has 2 ports SATA 6 GB/s (SATA III) most likely the hard drive and an optical drive are connected on it. There are also 2 SATA 3Gbps ports but not in use, I guess.

The other issue is that there are 4 partitions but the partition 0 is strange and shouldn't be there. There should be a small boot for Windows partition (for BitLocker etc.), drive C: with Windows, D: drive with a partition recovery and partition Tools HP QuickWeb and some diagnostic utilities. It seems that the recovery partition is missing, the C: drive has been decreased and then created a small partition at the beginning of the hard disk. Take a look at disk management in administrative tools in the control panel this partitioning is on the hard drive.

    Hello henpenben,

    You need drivers.

Go to HP.com and click on the button that says scan now. It will scan your system for software and drivers missing or obsolete.

Here is a link to the drivers; you will need your product number.

You can find the number for your product by holding down the FN key and pressing ESC

I would like to know how everything goes.

    Hi @Dawid531!

This ID failure usually indicates that your HARD drive has failed and needs to be replaced or there is a problem with the SATA controller on the card. There is a great topic on how to resolve this error, so if you want you can take a look:
