HP Pavilion dv6 - Num Lock

Hello

I have a HP Pavilion dv63090si running Windows 7 x 64. I use a number of diacritical signs and diphthongs and usually use the ASCII or ANSI of these characters values. I do not have an obvious Num Lock key on this keyboard, and are not of letter keys designated as keys to use with the fn key (which I have used in previous laptops).  How the hell can I get these characters in text documents?  There is a lock (requires a password or your finger scan to continue) key but it doesn't seem to be a Scroll Lock / Num Lock key is.

Thank you

Hi again,

Thank you for the information on your laptop. I just wanted to be sure that you did not have this key on the keyboard.

There is another solution to your problem. You can remap any of the keys on ' num lk ' key.

I recommend SharpKeys 3.0, because it is free and very easy to use software.

How you will be able to come back to this key used to do?

You need only to remove the entry from the list in the main window of SharpKeys and restart the machine.

    Hello

I'm on HP Pavilion dv6 - 1210sa laptop with Windows vista Home Premium (service Pack2). It's the operating system, which is that the laptop came with when I bought in 2010 and later service pack 2 was installed using windows update. I can confirm that my laptop is up-to-date with updates of windows and hp installed periodically. My problem is the following:

Everytime I turn on my laptop, I can hear the noise from the cooling fan and the led power and feather touch volume buttons and a wi - fi light up. However, the screen remains blank and the CAPS lock and NUM lock Dungeon LED flashing with three second gap between two flashes. They Flash together and blink only once in a single cycle. It keeps flashing even after leaving it for 10 minutes. I have to perform the hard reset several times before I can get it started. This problem started a few months ago with the frequency of the problem more and more. It has now reached a point where I encounter this problem on every start and even after the awakening of the laptop computer from standby or hibernation.

I know that the flashing of the LEDs is typical diagnoses, but I was unable to understand the real problem. I know the screen works because I tested using an external monitor to work. It should not be the battery (even if it's crap to maintain charge) I tried to restart the laptop with just AC adapter connected (and battery removed) after having done a hard reset and still, the situation did not improve.

Could someone please tell me what is the problem and what are my options? Think you that formatting my c: / and re - install the OS will solve the problem?

    Thank you.

    Please come back to me

As long as you keep your files backed up on the outside, it is to you how you want to proceed. First question, however, is you are in warranty or not? If you are in warranty, Yes, call telephone support and will take care to have it sent repair.

If you are no longer in warranty, however, that the repair can be expensive. You could certainly call for an exact quote, but according to the availability of the room, it might be around $200 and for an out of warranty repair. Money would probably be much more effective if they are presented to a new computer.

BUT, if you're still able to get the it to power (after trying it several times) and you're OK with the disadvantage, it would be nice to hold off on buying a new computer until it failed completely. I hate this word like that but I want to be realistic with you. I'm sorry that you are having this problem. As I said though, your files are the priority. Keep all your documents and photos and other precious files saved on an external hard drive or flash drive. Let me know if you have any other questions

  • Pavilion 17z-F200 CTO: How do I change turn on the num lock (NumLock) key have a State by default to it?

How do I change turn the num lock (NumLock) key a Pavilion 17z-F200 CTO to have a State default one?

System BIOS has no setting for it. By another post, I tried to set the value of register in HKEY_USERS\. Default\Control Panel\Keyboard for "InitialKeyboardIndicators" of "2147483648" to "2147483650. It seems not to change after a reboot.

Yes, the BIOS settings was the first thing I checked. But BIOS seems to only contain States in order for the locks of keys on the new HP Pavilion or Envy laptop.

I did more research and found more credible sources to TechNet asking to change the same registry value to 2. I tried it and it works a fact/do.

No, this site is for one purpose (wifi). It has no connection with the screen so there is no way to install any type of videocard in there, and even if there were this is equivalent to a pci - e slot 1 x is unable to transport sufficient bandwidth to where quality would exceed the original video card in the laptop. I think that these berries external videocard for laptops are modern snake oil.

  • Pavilion dv6 - 3227cl laptop entertainment puts but has only a black screen

HP Pavilion DV6 - 3227cl Entertainment Notebook, which is about 2 years old and works on Windows 7 Home Premium, AMD Vision Premium, will to power, but not start.  The fan works and the "caps lock" flashes once approximately every 4 seconds, but all I get is a black screen with no error message or the cursor.  There are no beeps.  The power led lights (white) for about a second, then turns to a dim orange when the battery is installed, but remains white when the battery is removed.  However, the two lights (I'm not sure what they are for) next to the nearest port USB power light lights up as follows: one on the left (as you are looking at the right side of the laptop) is white; the right one is orange.  Both are fully illuminated, (not vaguely that the power light).  The power light is not as bright as the other indicator white located near the USB port.  The laptop started and seemed to be running once since this problem started, but I was not able to start again.  I'm told the battery is bad (it's my brother in law book), but it is possible that the problem is with the power source rather than the processor or motherboard?  I appreciate your comments/advice about this.  Thank you.

    Hi fejevitzky,

Your question, "according to that, I think you're telling me you don't think it's the BIOS - is that correct?" Yes, as long as you don't see any "white" light reveals LCD bezel back while with the State of the white screen. Bezel LCD's coverage around LCD, most design put modeule LED in the lower corner next to the LCD. While the backlight is not during the boot sequence, which means system doesn't have chance to get BIOS current enforcement program. It also means, he stuck to the condition of the equipment to set up. Normally this motherboard related.

  • Laptop HP Pavilion dv6 - 3016 s: USB (device not recognized) problems

    Hello

on my laptop (Pavilion dv6-3016sl, bought in 2010) for a few months the USB connections give many problems with different devices.

The first issue with the key external communication 3G (ONDA TM201) Internet: the USB key (which has worked for many months) is not recognized. I tried to reinstall the software and drivers (get the latest version from the website of the producer), but it is always unclear correctly.

The visible in USB Device Manager error message is "cannot start (code 10) machine.

Recently other USB devices have ceased to be recognized: powered USB Hub (HAMA USB 2.0 Hub 1:4, bus) and the Wired Optical mouse (Logitech).

It is also not possible to install new USB devices (for example, a device of wireless sync to a cuff of training).

I've done many controls of Microsoft on the integrity of the system, and I frequently run the Windows Update to be aligned to the latest version of the fix.

You have any suggestions to analyze/fix this locking problem?

    Thanks in advance,

    Moreno

I know this may seem a rather harsh to suggest method, but at this point, I suggest backup of important things on your laptop computer to online storage. This is because you can use the USB storage for the moment.

Once you have done this, it's time to locate your drives support usb recovery and licenses of all other programs that you have installed or recovery.

    Start on the recovery media.

Use the HP Recovery Manager to perform a factory image recovery which will reinstall the operating system.

Since you say that the usb ports work under Linux, then reinstalling the operating system Windows needs to solve the problem of usb port that you are experiencing.

  • RALink 3592BC8 and HP Pavilion dv6 - 3155sr

    Hello world

did someone knows, is Ralink 3592BC8 (part number 630813-001) supported in the HP Pavilion dv6 - 3155sr (XX567EA product number)? Currently I have RT3090 WiFi / camera combined BT.

They look quite the same thing, but one thing that confufes me, is 3090 is model of 1 t/1R and 3592 2 t/2R... But both have 2 antenna connectors.

    You are the very welcome.

It's locked out of BIOS. Unless you know how to modify the BIOS to allow inclusion of all wireless cards, the PC even does not start until you remove the unsupported WLAN card.

I don't know how, or if the BIOS of your PC can be hacked.

  • installation of a hard drive accelearation 32 gb on HP Pavilion dv6-3127dx WSSD

    Re: HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook, #XG756UA, #ABA, Windows 7

Hello, I have the laptop above, bought on / 12/2010.  Because I dropped it by mistake, he cracked the tank down to the left and the hingue screen is loose so I have one vision of the white screen now, but other that the laptop works.  It does not guarantee the expense to fix this problem, so I decided to buy a new laptop and keep this one as a desktop use.  I connected it to an old CRT monitor right now and it works very well and does the job (I turn ends up getting a HP Monitor to have a more modern monitor).  I am actually very happy that there is still life in this book, the view is much better on this old CRT monitor and other that the stupid error in fact throw my bag of books without realizing that the laptop was in it (one lap memory), this laptop has been well looked after - the only problem is that it's sometimes very hot , do not know why because I don't really play games on it, but I understand this model had this problem anyway.

To improve the stimulation I wonder if I can install a cache to speed up hard drive 32 gb WSSD.  I want to know if this process is simple enough for me to make my own.  It is a card that I just bought and plug a peripheral location or is it something that needs to get inside the laptop; where a technician must do?  In addition, how about installing a better graphics card while I am?  It currently has an integrated approach.

Any help is appreciated, so thanks in advance.

Graphics on laptops are usually soldered to the motherboard.  Laptops, when it comes to critical components, are generally locked in this configuration.  Some components, such as the processor, may be possible, but it is not an easy task.

This guide by erico, one of community experts, answers a lot of questions about the hardware upgrade in a notebook.  This may be worth reading, if the upgrade of equipment is something that you are interested in.

Unlike desktop computers, laptops are not really designed to be upgraded.  This is largely due to how the laptop has cooling in mind.  More powerful components will generate more heat and the initial design of cooling (fans, heat and air sinks) may not be enough to handle the extra heat being generated.

It really looks like that this laptop does not what you're looking for.  The graphics card is something that is usually not extensible/now, and it does not appear that this unit has the architecture required to support the option of disk cache.  Just to add some clarification, the architecture of disk cache usually relies on a RAID configuration to accomplish this task. Since the RAID (Intel RST) driver is missing from the download page, it seems that this device does not have RAID capacities.

If the startup speed is something you are looking for, the upgrade of the disk as a whole to a standard SSD can be the best option for your needs.  However, watching a new laptop can be the best option if you want to also material improved, such as the graphics card.

This laptop comes stock with a cache of WSSD 32 GB drive.  Looks like ultrabooks include a cache drive that I looked at four different large and each had a disk cache included.  They do not have the list in the specifications of the laptop, but it was listed when I chose the option of customization.  However, more than likely ultrabooks won't the video card you are looking for because of the compact size that ultrabooks are designed.  The desire line generally has most of the options for video cards.

  • HP Simplepass stops working. HP Pavilion dv6. Assistance needed

Everytime I open Hp Simplepass, he tells me to scan my finger on the sensor. However, when I slide my finger across the sensor, I get an error saying: "it seems that you are experiencing some problems. You want to try again? »

It's really frustrating because he did this for about 2 or 3 months now, and it worked perfectly fine before, when I started using the simplepass.

    -Update the driver

-Disable the driver, then in reactivating

I have not tried to do a system restore point, because I do not have a restore point that was 3 months ago. Also, I would lose a lot of this parameter and that I currently have.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I found the solution to this problem after a lot of work.

I went to the Device Manager and uninstalled completely, the pilot of the validity and the parameters. Then I opened my control panel and navigated to the list of programs, uninstall a program.

I uninstalled the program called 'validity WBF DDK"completely. I tried to uninstall the other program next to what we call the 'validity DDK sensors", however, it gave me a warning message indicating that uninstalling this program, could perform other software or devices. So, to avoid any problem of unnessary, I avoided to procceed with the uninstall of this specific programme.

Then once I finished the "WBF DDK validity" uninstalling, I navigated to a search engine HP store and looked for a software based on my computer model number. (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=5118737#N1655)

Then, I downloaded the program simplepass safety on this page category. I also downloaded the driver for validity.

The pilot of validity was sp53369.exe and the program simplepass sp54680.exe.

    Pilot of validity: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp53001-53500/sp53369.exe

    SimplePass program: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp54501-55000/sp54680.exe

I installed the driver of validity first, and I chose 'Yes' when he was asked to replace all the other data that was there.

After that, I ran the download simplepass and successfully installed.

I rebooted my computer and connected. (with password)

Then, a message pops up saying something about searching for a driver or something like that. And he has been looking for him.

I let him finish what he was doing and about 5 minutes or more, it's over. I tried, and then open the program simplepass. It has successfully opened and I could finally record a finger.

Once I have registered a finger (and a toe) I closed the window simplepass and hit windows key + L to lock my pc. Then I spent my finger to check if it works, and to my surprise, it worked.

I hope this helps if you have the same problem, I've had.

    Hello

Try to remove and re-seating memory module - the procedure is detailed from Page 68 of your & Maintenance Guide.

Failure to correct the problem, as your laptop is still under warranty, your best option is to contact HP and make arrangements for this repaired under warranty - if necessary, you can check the status of your warranty here.
