HP Pavilion DV6723el: Replacement of hard disk Maximum size

Hi all

I have a DV6735el, PN: KN782EA #ABZ and I would like to a drvie larger than the default value of 250 GB and 4 GB of RAM (ok). Makes this model of support: 1 o 2 TB?

I guess he can use Sata III interface (without speed improvement).

It requires disk with hight 10 mm or can I use also 15mm?

Thank you

Any 2.5 inches wide and 9.5 mm thick SATA hard drive laptop will work and they make the models TB 1 and 2 for those who are very good. It may be SATA III but won't work at a lower speed of SATA on your laptop. Post back if you need help most.

Your laptop has a regular 2.5 "SATA hard drive installed.

Any 2.5 "SATA hard drive should work just fine.

The hard drive that you have access to will work fine.

If you do not use a lot of space on the hard disk, I recommend to install an SSD. It is much faster but more expensive.

    1. 2.5 or 3.5
    2. What is SATA or SATA-no?
    3. SATA is compatible for it?
    4. What is the size of the HARD drive that needs to be? -height, length and width.

    Hello

    It's a laptop HP Pavilion 15-p100dx ?

    http://support.HP.com/au-en/document/c04463224

    If Yes, then

    1. it uses standard 2.5 "HDD.

    2. it is a SATA HDD,

3 SATA III (or 3) and SATA II (or 2) is compatible.

    4. all standard HDD laptops would use the same width and length, thickness (hright) can be varry slightly, but your laptop supports 7 mm or 9.5 mm. Better use 9.5 mm because you don't need a frame fill to increase his height.

    5. Yes, HP doesn't produce HARD drives for laptops, it uses Seagate, Toshiba and a few other brands.

    6. you can buy in any computer store BestBuy or Amazon, Newegg...

  • Satellite L850 - how to replace a HARD disk recovery partition?

    Hello.

Toshiba laptop Satellite L850. PSKDGA-02Y012. The original HARD drive has failed in his colleagues even mobile, so we replaced the two HARD drive after you have created a recovery USB. When used to restore the operating system to original status of OOB.
That has worked and portable runs much, but now I want to BACK the recovery partition (now only on the USB I think) for the new HARD drive.

Simple to shrink the disk HARD C: (partition 2) on the HARD disk, but then how to transfer twhats on the USB (USB recovery stick) back on the HARD drive?

    Thanks for any help.

    Karim...

    Hello karim

When you buy the notebook you will get it with preinstalled operating system (recovery image). Original recovery image is saved on the HARD disk on the recovery partition.
Each owner of the laptop has option to make the backup recovery image and create recovery media. It could be the DVD or USB support. You can do this by using preinstalled Toshiba recovery media creator tool.
This tool will create bootable recovery media that can be used for the installation of original image recovery if there is problem with the installation of image disk HARD recovery or when the drive is defective and must be replaced.

Where the HARD drive is faulty and should be replaced or the owner of the laptop to upgrade HARD drive, you can install original image created using recovery recovery media (USB). After installing recovery image, you will have the same situation as for the first boot after the purchase of the laptop. With other words notebook will have factory settings again.

In this case original recovery image is already copied onto the new HARD drive and you will also be able to start the installation of HARD drive recovery. There is therefore no reason to copy a recovery on HARD drive media.
Please note: installation of HARD drive recovery works with the factory only settings.

If you have any other questions do not hesitate to ask.

    Good luck.

Hi, I have a SATELLITE M40X-189, I would like to replace the hard drive and would like if possible some recommendations!
I know I need an ide/pata and I currently have a hard disk of 40 GB hitachi 5400 rpm installed. The memory is just what came installed originally, (512 MB, no upgrade).

So what size I can up to?
I have a lot of music/photos and video to change so must also size decent 80 GB would be enough?
I really don't use it for anything other than that, and also the navigation on the internet. Although I often have a few programs running at the same time which causes problems... freeze, (in particular I tunes) and generally slow running.

I'm confident on the physical replacement, and I know how to clone my old drive hard etc, but just need some info about the size and speed and if possible
a recommendation of the manufacturer. Just worried about incompatibility really issues.

Also, if you think I should install more memory, which size and make and model may recommend.

    Hi mate

First he must know that this question have been posted a lot of time in the forum.
If you want to use the search option, then you will find this thread for example:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?MessageID=68287

Is the M40X series supports the IDE controller and I think that you need a 2.5 IDE HDD.
The old ide controllers are limited to 128 GB with 28-bit LBA
However, you can take an 80 GB or 120 GB HARD drive and it should work fine

I'm trying to help my daughter with this broken computer.  She has updated to Win 10 and it was a disaster.  He froze and was caught in a loop or repair and recovery that did not work.  I tried all the features and it did nothing but function loop the applicant do go back to the previous version, which was chosen.  So nothing was there but a screen empty.  After running the diagnostics, it now says there is an error of hard disk 3F1.  Since I am put on not to find a recovery partition on the hard drive dead, how I can this machine upwards and running with a new hard drive.  She never whatever it is saved and I don't know where to find the Windows OEM # in the BIOS.  I looked at and don't know?  If I slave HD on my desktop, how can I find the product code and or get the factory reset cut off the HD if it is not damaged?
Since this laptop does not have a DVD player, I'm not sure on how to proceed with this, even if I have a portable DVD player.

I feel bad, it happened when I tried to help him and want to do right well I don't want to spend much money on this low special end of Wal-Mart.  It's one year warranty, and the cord is low quality too was replaced twice.

Thanks for you immediate response.  I think your solution is the way to go.  So if I get the HP recovery USB and the new HD is installed, I have to change the boot order in the BIOS to make it work and in what order, if so.  Or do I plug in and turn on the machine and let it do it's thing?  Thank you for your time, which is very much appreciated.

You must enable secure in the BIOS first start and then turn on legacy mode get new material, working on the laptop. You can also change the order of boot on USB to boot from USB but I think that by pressing F12 or F10 shows you boot options fast without change anything whatsoever in the BIOS.

24 short drive self-test error code would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.  This is also consistent with the problem of slow performance that you describe.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disk replaced - you can check the status of your warranty here.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

  • SMART failure provided on hard disk 2: WDC WD 3200AAJS-55RY-AO (S1) __WARNING: IMMEDIATELY back up your data and replace your hard disk drive failure can be immenent

Please help... I dunno what to do one day, I came home from work and my new about sony vaio desktop has been frozen, so I rebooted and now I have this message when I try to start and I do not have a vista disc or a recovery disc and am worried my lost data as I do not know how to save at this point because I can't even in the windows operating system Vista.  can someone help me please?

We must believe the error message telling you that your hard drive is about to fail. If you are not technically proficient, take the machine to a local computer technician who will try to back up your data and then replace the hard drive. Do not use a type of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad of the place. Otherwise, you may be able to get the data saved by one of the methods below and replace the hard drive yourself.

1 remove the drive and put it in a box of USB drive or use a USB adapter. Attach it to a computer that is running a working XP/Vista/Windows7 installation. Use the work of Windows Explorer to copy the data to the hard drive of the system to the rescue and burn data on cd or dvd. I prefer not to do it if I know the drive is infected because he has a chance to infect your host system. In these cases, I use #2 below.

    2. you can start the target computer with a Bart PE (if you use XP) or a Linux live CD like Knoppix and retrieve the data in this way. General information about the use of Knoppix for this are:

You will need a computer with two cd records, one of which is an engraver of CD/DVD OR a USB thumb drive with sufficient capacity to store your data, OR an external hard drive formatted USB FAT32 (not NTFS) *. Download Knoppix .iso image file and create your bootable CD. If you do this in a previous (XP or Vista) operating system, you will need the third burning like Nero, Roxio or the free ImgBurn software (Windows 7 can burn .isos natively). Burn as an image, not in the form of data. Then boot with the CD that you created, and Knoppix will be able to see the files in Windows. If you use the USB key or an external hard disk, right-click on its icon (on the desktop) to get its properties and uncheck "read only". Then click on it to open it. Note that the mouse action by default in the window manager used by Knoppix (KDE) is a simple click to open instead of double-click traditional MS Windows. If you want to burn CD/DVDs, use the K3b program.

    * My understanding is that you can now write on NTFS from Linux partition. If you wish to do this, Google for instructions on the use of the NTFS driver.

    http://www.Knoppix.NET

IMPORTANT - If there is no question that the drive is at fault - there are noises, for example - and the data is crucial NOTHING else ON THE DISC. Whenever launch you this player you can destroy data. If this is the case, send the drive to a professional data recovery company. I use savers by car, but there are others. General prices run from $500USD on-site. Investors recovered all disk data on a portable player that failed for one of my clients, and it cost $2 700. He thought that it was worth the money; only you know what's worth your data. I understand that some insurance companies now cover fresh data recovery so check with yours.

  • Question about upgrading windows and replacement of hard disk

I originally had windows 7 premium 64 bit and later upgraded using a product key anytime upgrade to windows 7 Professional.  I still have the two product keys for the premium and professional.

I want to replace my hard drive and upgrade to windows 10.

    What I asked:

I have upgraded to windows 10 first and somehow make a boot disk, replace my hard drive, and then use the disk on the new hard disk?

Can I get a disk to boot windows professional 7 some hand and use it on the new hard drive and then use the tool of a free upgrade?

Any suggestion would be great.  Thank you

You must first reinstall Windows 7 Home Premium, reactivate and then rerun the upgrade to Windows 7 Professional can make sure that it is turned on.

After which, you can download and install the free update for Windows 10.

Another option you have is to create an image of your current installation of Windows 7 Professional system and restore it on the new hard drive.

How to pass Windows 7 to a bigger hard drive - Notebooks.com

After the restoration of the image and adjust the layout of the partition, make sure that Windows is activated, then check Windows Update for the upgrade of Windows 10 or download manually:

    Retry the upgrade manually:

    Option 1:

    Download the media creation tool

Click with the right button on the MediaCreationTool.exe file and then click on run as administrator.

Note: How to check if you are downloaded or installed the update Windows 10 November

How to create an ISO or USB drive.

Select upgrade this PC now and then click Next

    Option 2:

    Task of pre-required

When you make significant changes to your computer for example updated operating system, you must always back up. See the links to resources on the backup by clicking the link for each version of Windows you are using: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1

    then

    then

    • Turn off (preferably uninstall) your Antivirus utility before you perform the upgrade.
    • Reboot several times, and then try again.
    • Disable the general USB peripherals (for example - smart card reader).
    • If you are using a SCSI drive, make sure you have the drivers available for your storage on a thumdrive device and it is connected. During the installation of Windows 10, click on the advanced custom Option and use the command load driver to load the driver for the SCSI drive. If this does not work and the installer still fails, consider switching to an IDE based hard drive.
    • Perform a clean boot, restart, and then try again.
    • If you upgrade to the. ISO file, disconnect from the Internet during the installation, if you are connected in LAN (Ethernet) or wireless, disable both, then try to install.
    • If you are updated through Windows Update, when download reaches 100% disconnect from the LAN (Ethernet) Internet or Wi - Fi, then proceed with the installation.
    • If this does not work, try using the. ISO file to upgrade if possible.
    • If you are connected to a domain, go to a local account.
    • If you have an external equipment, attached to the machine, unplug them (example, game controllers, USB sticks, external hard drive, printers, peripherals not essential).
  • installation and replacement of hard disk in the computer hp mini 110

I need help replacing a hard drive on my computer hp mini 110.

    HP Mini 110

    Windows XP sp3

I just posted a question about the installation of the operating system.  Fixed that issue but found another.  I installed the operating system and everything was fine.  I started to install the drivers and applications, and after you have installed hp applications the pc has restarted and came up with a message saying:

PRI Master Hard Disk: S.M.A.R.T. Status BAD, Backup and replace, press F1 to resume.

PRI Master: WDC WD1600BEVT-60ZCT1 13.01A13 ULTRA DMA MODE 5 S.M.A.R.T. Capable and BAD Status

I press F1 and it started.  I was still a few drivers requiring an installation.  Since I've installed just everything, there was not much to save.

I installed a different driver and rebooted and this time I hit F1 it didn't start.  I got a black page with a line of blinking cursor and nothing else happens.

After some research, I've seen it's a bad hard drive.

    My question is:

Is this something that can be replaced at home.  I can read the instructions.  What I need to get the same hard drive, or are there others that will work?  If I can do it at home, where can I find instructions to replace it and what is the best place to get the hard drive.  Is this what I need to know.

Thanks for anyone's help.  I'm sure I look like an idiot, but it's something I've not done in a laptop.  I replaced and internal hard drive in a desktop computer.  I remember myself set to land and out and plug in another.  I had the chance then because the computer had 2 hard drives.

I guess I'll need to reformat the drive and start over again with the installation of the operating system etc.

Would I be able to upgrade and install vista or windows 7?

    Hi, Tamara:

Here is the link to the service manual for your laptop, which also lets you complete the You-Tube video.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c01895806.PDF

You can buy a 2.5 "laptop hard drive size 160 GB SATA II, should not exceed 500 GB.

You can get a 5 400 rpm model or a model of 7 200 RPM.

The difference between the two is that you will get better performance (faster seek times) a disc of 7 200 RPM.

However, it will be at the expense of the life of the battery between charges.

So, what you choose, it's up to you.

Here is a link to a site that sells hard drives of laptop.

They have great prices and there are a lot of feedback from customers that may be useful for you to decide which one to go with.

    http://www.Newegg.com/store/subcategory.aspx?subcategory=380&name=laptop-hard-drives

According to specifications, your computer can run Windows 7 well.

I recommend edit you your message and remove any reference to the discussion of smuggling copies of Windows 7. These assignments are not in accordance with the rules of the forum.

In addition, please keep in mind that a lot of these free copies of Windows can be loaded with traps that can steal your personal data and do other nasty things, including perhaps turn your PC into a Bot who committed illegal activities.  It is not worth it for me to install such illegally of is software and possibly have the bust of the FBI to the bottom of my door and arrest me for something that I didn't know that was going on with my PC.

It seems that the recovery XP disks are available for your PC, even if the link is broken, so if you want to reinstall XP, contact HP by telephone and you can get a set for less than $20.00.

Otherwise, you can get a game online site for $27.00 + shipping costs.

You get a legitimate copy of Windows OEM 7 (relatively) cheap at the link below.

Unfortunately, there is no way to recover your Windows COA key - neither HP or Microsoft will have any record of it.

However, if you use recovery discs for your laptop, they will not require the key to the COA and will activate automatically.
