  Hello. I have the HP Pavilion DV7 6B57NR. It has Windows 7 Home Premium. Yesterday I was going to change the speed of the fan through the software of HP CoolSense. But when I click the icon, it does not open. When I click it, it pops up a blue circle, spinning near the cursor for like 3 seconds and then it leaves. Help, please. Thank you.

  Ok. Thanks, but I solved it by uninstalling the HP Support Assistant and put it back again. Thanks anyway.

• Pavilion dv7 WC159EA #ABU: the fan RPM increases a lot whenever I plug my battery

  I recently bought a new battery for my laptop and when I plug it, while my charger is plugged, the fan THAT RPM increases as if I use 100% CPU at 100% of RAM. Could it be caused by the new battery?

  Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome.  I looked in your question about your HP Pavilion dv7-3111ea Notebook and questions with the new battery. Here is a link to test and calibrate the battery.

  Plug the power supply directly to a wall outlet works. Do not connect it a power strip, surge arrester, or secondary power source as this could cause and issue.

  The link you sent shows me the correct battery for your HP laptop.

  I recommend to restore the default settings of the BIOS with this document by selecting the reload the default BIOS settings

  Disconnect the AC (charger),
  Stop the machine,
  Remove the battery,
  Connect AC,
  Restart the machine,
  Open Decive Manager,.
  In the batteries category, right-click to all Batterylistings compatible control ACPI method and select uninstall.
  Stop the machine,
  Disconnect the AC,
  Insert the battery,
  Connect AC,
  Reboot the computer.

  I've updated the HP Wizard and one of the items listed was an update for HP Cool sense.

  I downloaded the file and installed.  No icon snowflake below on the right.

  I went to start and typed way Cool HP in the search programs and files.  No snowflake icon.  There is an entry at the top listed under programs, so I clicked that.

  Error message: Windows cannot find C:\Program Hewlett - Packard HP Support Framework\Resources\HPThermalAssistant\HPThermalAssistant.exe

  Now what?

  I hope it works. 3rd post down from @Rylynx has a suggestion here. It has restored its HP Support Assistant to make it work again: HP Coolsense
  
  If this does not work, you may need to perform a full restore of the HP.

  I called support and they confirm that even if it shows that it will be compatible, there will be a problem. They recommend using a USB dongle to give you the 5 GHz, you need.

  Recently my computer laptop cooling fan started running continuously with a loud noise. When the screen is idle, it stops for a few seconds and start again. I changed the power balance in the Panel options, but it did not work. Even the BIOS is the most recent. Referring to discussion forums, I've changed to "selective startup" thru "msconfig" but nothing worked.

  He is 8 months old. The noise is very disturbing. Can someone please help me with this?

  I got this laptop from my brother in law and have no idea of what the computer password or if it even has one. My question is how do I know if it has a password and what is the password. Also how can reset you the password if you do not know the old password.

  Best way to know if it has a password must start. If it starts Windows without asking, then you are good. If it has a password, it will show a session before the Windows logon screen. If you do not know and can not guess it - simply hold the power in a few seconds at the stop button.

  A recovery of the system using F11 power on can be in order if you need remove a password.
