HP Pavilion dv7t 3300: replacing hard drive SSD with the recovery DVD

My Pavilion dv7t3300 has two hard drives... A SATA 500 GB of data and an SSD 128 GB containing the operating system and other programs.   The SSD drive that contains the operating system failed.  When I install the replacement SSD, I intend to use the HP System recovery DVD (2) which came with the unit.  If I load the recovery disks will be erase/format all my data-files in the 500 GB drive.

The new drive is "naked".

Thank you for your help

Tim

I just remove the second disk while making the recovery operation and slap it in when the process is complete. Better safe than sorry. Theoretically, the recovery disks will not affect the second drive, but it's really easy to be sure that they will not be 100%.

I understand that the original 640 GB hard drive has failed and you plan to install a SSD drive.

Here is a link to HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service of Guide. Please note Chapter 3, page 36, section 1, the recommended replacement disks.  You will notice the 160 GB SSD is recommended only if you have an Intel processor.

When I checked it Pavilion dv6-6135dx Entertainment Notebook PC specifications , you have an AMD processor.

Other drives may work, but as they are not tested, there is no guarantee that it would be.

  • Re: Satellite A660 - 2nd HARD drive instead of the CD/DVD drive

    Hello

I found a few solutions to this problem ([solution | http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?main_page=page&id=7&chapter=0]), but none of them are dedicated to A660.

There is no device dedicated to tosiba a660?

    Thank you.

    Hello

I know Satellite A660 can't stand not a thin Bay select only some models like the M400 Portege, Portege M750, Tecra M9, Tecra S3 or S4 Tecra, Portege M700 support this feature

So 2nd HARD drive instead of the CD/DVD drive does not seem to be possible

  • Replace hard drive SSD on end 2009 27 "iMac

    end 2009 27 "imac

    OS X 10.11.3

3.06 GHz intel Core 2 Duo

    4 GB memory

According to the genius bar, the Seagate 1 TB hard drive on my end 2009 27 "iMac is a failure.  They told me that they do not have the parts to replace and suggest I do myself or take it to Best Buy.  Best Buy said that they are unable to do so I can't to try it myself.  I read and watched directions to ifixit and several other sites.  I am convinced that I have the skills to do the replacement, but I'm less confident about the purchase of equipment:

    (1) Ifixit say I should use a Seagate drive to replace the Seagate drive I have.  Engineering made no mention of this.

    (2) engineering suggested I buy a Crucial BX200 480 GB SATA 6 GB/s 7 mm (with 9.5 mm adapter) 2.5 "disk flash internal SSD (part #CT7414188).  The essential site says I need part CTSSDCONVT a 2.5 "to 3.5" SATA SSD/HHD converter for 2006-2012 MacPro.  They suggest that it will work in my iMac as well.  Articles and discussions have referenced problems with noise from the fan and order and mention with fixes software and manual control of the speed of the fans.  When I mentioned questions fan of genius, he said not to worry about this, and the Crucial site makes no mention of him either.  The SSD costs $129,99 and converter $ 21,50 for a total of $151,49.

    (3) OWC offers aDIY Bundle which includes a 480 Electra of mercury GB 3 G SSD, newer technology AdaptaDrive to allow installation of the 2.5 "SSD and a digital probe online that eliminates the noise of the fan and maintains control of the correct system fan through management for the iMac system controller.  The package costs $199,75.

Bundle OWC seems like a good deal but it seems to me that SSD Crucial works to 6 GB/s and the Electra of mercury to 3 Gbps.  If I go through the replacement, it seems more sensible to get the 6 GB/s.

I wonder if I can mix and match and use the Crucial SSD with the Adaptadrive of more recent technology and digital sensor OWC.

Any suggestions from anyone who has done this replacement would be appreciated.

2009 iMacs have SATA 2 - meant 3Gbps rate.  It does not matter if you use 2 SATA and SATA 3 - you get only speed SATA 2.

Second - the adapter for 2.5 to 3 5 - don't hang a lot of money on this,-l'ebay has many choices.

My personal experience, support 'intel' works best - since it is the length, so the seat fits much better.

Yes, you can mix and match - choose what might suit you best.

For me, I had Apple OEM SSD (Samsung doing this - 256 GB, SATA 3) with intel on iMac 2011 (SATA 3 speed), with support from OWC thermal line sensor.

Samsung 830 (256 GB and SATA 3) on iMac 2010 (SATA 2 speed), with support from Intel, with OWC thermal line sensor.

Note: the probe heat 2010 and 2011 are different.

    Good luck.

  • Pavilion N5415 notebook replacement hard drive

I have an older Pavilion N5415 Notebook and hard drive died. HP no longer wears the replacements I can order online. The old drive is an IBM & reg Travelstar 4200 RPM 10 GB, ATA/IDE, 2.5 "x 9.5 mm. I need to know what I can safely replace this drive with." I found one on amazon.com with the following specifications and I need to know if it will work:

    • Hitachi Travelstar 4 K 120 HTS421280H9AT00 80 GB portable hard drive
    • Buffer 8 MB spindle speed 80 GB storage capacity IDE UDMA/100 4200 RPM interface
    • 7.1 ms average latency average 11 ms read seek time format 2.5 inch 9.5 mm drive height factor

What other specs do I need to be concerned in addition to rpm and physical size?

    Thank you!

32 GB is only a problem on some old computers... no need to worry. Once you have passed this barrier the next barrier is 137 gigs which does nothing more than 120 concerts can be used. I don't know the N5415 will be executed against this barrier. So whatever it is a disk of 120 Go up is ok and not better or worse than a smaller drive. Indeed, young readers tend to be older design, which means that they are running more hot and use more power.

    Hello

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?cc=us&LC=en&product=7265336

With a little luck, you need 20 minutes to 30 minutes.

  • Replace hard drive SSD

I have a 15 inch macbook pro late 2008.This came with a 250 GB hard drive that I partitioned

two areas of 125 GB that appear as separate HD1 and HD2 hard drives on my desktop. I have OSX 10.5.11

the HD1 and the last OSX El Capitan on HD2. According to what I want to do I can boot from either HD

and so each OS. I want to replace my original with a SSD hard drive. The little material is quite simple

but I want to retain the same configuration on disk partitions, i.e. 2 new with OS on each different

and all applications and files for each. Basically an exact copy of the original disc.

I have free external USB and FireWire HDs and a copy of Super Duper. How can I go about it?

Use a utility like SuperDupercloning or double clone. Clone your original drive on another external drive firewire is bootable.

Then after installing the new disk, boot from the clone and clone for the new SSD.

  • Pavilion 15: What replacement hard drive?

    Hello

I need to replace the hard drive on laptop Pavilion 15 of my son. Can anyone recommend what to buy. I do not have a backup cd, so presumably I need to re - load windows etc. as well?

    Thank you very much

    ADE

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

Media of 6.35 cm (2.5 in) hard drives in 9.5 mm (in.37) and 7.0 mm (.28 in.) thick (all hard drives use the same bracket)

So this confirms accept the one I linked in the post above.

Unfortunately, the removal of the hard drive is a little tricky. Start the p. 85 of the manual which shows how to remove the top cover.

You can skip over the part on the withdrawal of the screen and go to p. 105 for the hard drive.

  • Pavilion 15z-ab100: replacement hard drive under warranty outside the country of purchase

Hey everybody. I bought a laptop HP the HP online store in the United States in November 2015. I am currently in India and my laptop hard drive has failed and needs to be replaced. My laptop warranty is valid outside the country of purchase (USA)?

Can I get the hard drive replaced under warranty in India, even if I bought the laptop in the United States? I read somewhere that the replacement of equipment under warranty can be done in the country of purchase. Is this true?

  • Pavilion Elite M9340f: Replacement hard drive

Hard disk 750 MB Seagate (Baracuda 7200.11) is upward (lock or blue screen with one his jump).  Bought a new Seagate 1 TB (SATA) office drive to replace.  Recovery disks, format the new drive to 3/3 and then I get the error code 0 400 100 130000 1002 infamous x.  Says to contact HP.

I think I need an OS disc.  However, I bought Vista with the machine but the OS disks have not been provided.  The software is on a patrician, on the failed drive, and I do not know the product key #.  Is there a way to save my OS or I have to buy new ones?  If Yes, I think I would upgrade to Windows 7.

    Hello

If unallocated space is after the last partition and the last partition is the 'C' partition, then you can use disk management. If the last partition is HP tools or recovery then you can delete the partition by using Disk Management and then increase the size of the partition 'C '.

BTW - VISTA does not support partition covering them.

  • Replace hard drive SSD in IdeaPad y510p

    Hi all

I've had the IdeaPad y510p for a while now. This is the model with dual graphics, 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB HDD + 24GB SSD combo. (If you need me to be more precise, let me know). The 5400 hard drive RPM was slow this machine and I recently bought a 512 GB SSDS.

Is this compatible with the laptop? Of my little knowledge of hard drives, I assumed it was and picked it up.

Also, how I go on my PC cloning so that everything can be copied on the SSD drive, including start-up and all files and recovery partitions.

And one last thing. Is the separate 24 GB SSD or the part the 1 TB HARD drive... in other words, can I keep the secondary, more small SSD in as well?

    Thanks in advance!
