HP Pavilion dv7tSlctEdition PC: HP Pavilion dv7tSlctEditionEntertainment Notebook PC replacement HARD drive

I have a HP Pavilion dv7tSlctEditionEntertainment Notebook PC, System 144 b, product ID WW191AV, CPU: Intel i5 M460 @2.53 GHz, 8192 MB RAM, with a defunct 640 GB 7200 RPM HARD drive is identified as WW201AV.

I would like to replace the HARD drive, possibly upgrade to a 750 GB at least 7200 RPM (more if possible).  My concerns are: what size of HARD drive fits?  2.5 "or 3.5", and will be any model of HARD drive to one of the many models of the HP Pavilion dv7 adapted this particular unit?  Wouldn't be SATA?  What is a recommended manufacturer?

Thank you!

Hello

You can put 750 GB
SATA, 2.5-inch, computer portable thickness 9.5 mm HARD drive internal

You can buy good brands.

HGST Travelstar, Western digital, Seagate are good brands.

Have a Slimline S5-1224 which has a hard drive problem.  The drive is a Seagate 1 TB making a rattling noise when you restart.  Past experience tells me the drive is about to fail and execution of diagnostic tests has confirmed.  My question is it would be better to clone the old disk (if it still works) to the new?  Or I can use the recovery disks that I did when I bought the computer.  Thank you.

    Hello

    NTFS will be used.

On the new PC comes with Windows 8 and UEFI, then secure startup is enabled and the hard drive is in the GPT format.

  • Pavilion zv5000 - IDE adapter for HARD drive?

I have a Pavilion zv5000 series portable whose hard drive died several years ago. My father sent him to a work friend, who understood that it was the HARD drive, and I guess that he threw the car with an adapter with it. I got an IDE drive, foolishly, assuming that the pins on the drive just fit into the connector on the laptop itself. After a lot of confusion as to why the player wouldn't be good, a research showed a card equipped with a regular at one end IDE connector and a connector similar to that on the laptop on the other. I ask if it is true that I need one, even if I do not otherwise so that it connects.

Also, nines are isolated from the main pins on the drive. The old connector Molex had also four pins. These are the power pins, and the adapter address these too? It doesn't seem to be any other connector on the laptop. Once again, I want to just confirm this and no I have to not just buy the wrong thing for this laptop.

Therefore the adapter that I'm looking for?

Yes, I used to own a zv5000 and I can confirm there was a plastic connector black who went on the IDE brass pins on the hard drive to allow the connection to the motherboard.

    This is what you need:

  • HP Pavilion 17: mouse pad does not work after replacing hard drive

    Hello

After replacing hard drive and installing windows 8.1, I can't use my mouse pad.

I installed the Synaptics driver but it didn't help.

How can I check that mousepad device is not damaged when replacing the hard drive and which also can I try to fix the mouse pad?

    USB mouse works fine.

    See you soon

The only way to be sure is to open it up and see if the touchpad cable was disconnected during the upgrade of the hard drive. That's my bet. Easy to forget when you're winding. You don't provide complete model number, but many of the recent models Pavilion 17 require removal of the cover together to get hard disk that requires disconnection of the touchpad cable.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC: replacement AC adapter

    Hello

Update: I found the AC adapter plug. Thank you...

I bought a HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC (used). The problem is that the AC adapter is overheating and battery (in Windows) information are constantly changing, "load" to "do not load"

I would buy a new power adapter (including the power cord), but I want to make sure I buy the right, because the one I have right now says spare part (the original owner could buy a fake). The battery is also marked as a spare.

Information on parts (those I have right now):

    AC adapter / CC: 65w. Input: 100-240 v ~ 50-60 Hz 1.6(1.6A). Output: 18.5V (18.5) 3.5 A (3.5 A)

    Product name: LY894LA #ABM

    Serial number: [personal information]

    Thank you.

    Best regards.

  • Pavilion N5415 notebook replacement hard drive

I have an older Pavilion N5415 Notebook and hard drive died. HP no longer wears the replacements I can order online. The old drive is an IBM & reg Travelstar 4200 RPM 10 GB, ATA/IDE, 2.5 "x 9.5 mm. I need to know what I can safely replace this drive with." I found one on amazon.com with the following specifications and I need to know if it will work:

    • Hitachi Travelstar 4 K 120 HTS421280H9AT00 80 GB portable hard drive
    • Buffer 8 MB spindle speed 80 GB storage capacity IDE UDMA/100 4200 RPM interface
    • 7.1 ms average latency average 11 ms read seek time format 2.5 inch 9.5 mm drive height factor

What other specs do I need to be concerned in addition to rpm and physical size?

    Thank you!

32 GB is only a problem on some old computers... no need to worry. Once you have passed this barrier the next barrier is 137 gigs which does nothing more than 120 concerts can be used. I don't know the N5415 will be executed against this barrier. So whatever it is a disk of 120 Go up is ok and not better or worse than a smaller drive. Indeed, young readers tend to be older design, which means that they are running more hot and use more power.

  • HP Pavilion G6: INTELLIGENT control of hard drive failure

    FAILURE ID: 9C1G7F-5LK7KD-XD015G - 608L 03

    Hard drive 1

    Test drive: FAILURE

    What is my problem?

Whenever you get an error message with 24 characters alphanumeric numbers indicating that the hard drive needs to be replaced to solve the problem

Could be due to the Application or a driver conflict, virus issues, corruptions of files due to incompatible applications, improper stops, update failures due to conflicts, mounted sudden power sudden, so portable falls etc...

HP will offer a replacement HDD if the laptop warranty is Active, otherwise you can buy a SATA hard drive in a nearby retail store

Please make sure that you get at least equal as long as the original one in order to use recovery disks. If you need you can buy a bigger, but not smaller hard drive capacity. For example, if you have a 500 GB hard drive you can improve it to 750 GB hard drive, but not 320 GB hard drive

Please try the troubleshooting below indicated once the steps:
Step 01. Remove the battery and unplug the power adapter AC.
Step 02. Press and hold the power button for more than 30 seconds
Step 03. Plug the AC power adapter / (leave the battery for now)
Step 04. Press the power button and check if the unit is operating normally

If the steps listed above is not enough, then you can try reinstalling the hard disk on your laptop

If the problem persists again please contact HP if your HP laptop is under warranty, HP could replace the hard drive and provide recovery media to restore the operating system to factory after the replacement (if you have not yet created recovery disks/USB support)

Note: Back up all personal data on an external drive if possible. Otherwise, you can connect the HDD defective via SATA Adapter USB with another PC or a PC even after replacing the HARD drive & put in place of the operating system and try to copy / retrieve files.

You have the best experience in the HP forum, I would like to draw your attention to the HP Guide's Forums:

Learn how to post and much more.

I understand that the original 640 GB hard drive has failed and you plan to install a SSD drive.

Here is a link to HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service of Guide. Please note Chapter 3, page 36, section 1, the recommended replacement disks.  You will notice the 160 GB SSD is recommended only if you have an Intel processor.

When I checked it Pavilion dv6-6135dx Entertainment Notebook PC specifications , you have an AMD processor.

Other drives may work, but as they are not tested, there is no guarantee that it would be.

  • Recovery disk works does not after replacing hard drive Pavilion dv7

Hello. I have problems of replacement of a failed hard drive in my HP Pavilion dv7-6154nr notebook running Windows 7. New HARD drive seems to install OK, but I get a Windows Boot Manager error when I try to run the recovery disks created when the system was purchased. The message says "the boot selection failed because a required device is not accessible" "status: Oxc000000f. I changed the boot order in the BIOS to boot from the internal DVD player but continue to make the same mistake

More info: I upgraded the HARD drive from a Toshiba MK6476GSX - 640 GB - 5400 RPM for a WD Black 7500BPKTSP.  I don't see any info in the new HARD drive in system information / BIOS so I don't know if it is recognized. However, it take and pass a diagnostic test.

  • HP Pavilion G6: replacement hard drive on hp pavilion g6

Im trying to replace a hard drive on a HP pavilion G6 model number is G6 2239dx so I looked hard drives compatible with this model number that I did not buy directly from HP for a heavy sum. I found the other G6 drives with different model numbers, now I know that I certainly need the model number to order the Pack recovery but on the hard drive. It is somehow specific model number or can I use a hard drive from a 1B79dx of G6 G6 model number or any other g6 also. I'm new on this and do not want to buy something I can't use and have not been able to find clear information, I'm looking for. Any help is appreciated!

    Hello

Basically you can use any standard laptop HARD drive. But please use Hitachi or Toshiba. HP machines use Toshiba HDD much. You don't need special HARD drive to your machine.

  • HP pavilion dv7 4077cl need new hard drive

I need a new hard drive for my laptop HP pavilion dv7 4077cl entertainment.  The old man is a Toshiba MK6465gsx.  What would be compatible?  Maybe more now I have 640 GB of storage like most.  Can someone help me?

    Hello

Yes, the HARD drive become more fat and more (capacity), becomes also more small - actually thinner - (dimension) AND cheaper too. You can use more (once again - ability) HDD from reliable suppliers/manufacturers. 750 GB or 1 TB of a WD HARD drive would be a good start - please stay with the one who has more cache and fast (7200 rpm or more).

My suggestion: replace it with a SSD and put a larger HARD drive on the second span.

    Kind regards.
