HP Pavilion Elite HPE - 500f D: SSD replacement for HP Pavilion Elite HPE-500f to original desktop PC hard drive
Hi all!
I would like to replace the original hard drive came with my desktop HP Pavilion Elite HPE-500f with an SSD, but when I tried, I got the error message that my SSD drive was not big enough. The original hard drive is 1.35 TB. What size an SSD should be to replace the original CT 1.35 supplied with my HP so that I could use the 1.35 disc as my second drive and the ssd as my main drive?
Thank you!
Hello
Yes I think a 240 GB SSD would be sufficient. Using the hard drive for storage is a good idea.
These articles HOWTO HP should be useful.
You should be able to install the SSD in the existing hard drive cage as it is put into service for three hard drives. Use a 2.5 "to 3.5" adapter. You also need a SATA data cable.
Don't forget to create the external recovery media and backup your data.

My desktop HP Pavilion P7-1074 4.5 years computer dropped last week. Planed to get a replacement on Black Friday or the day after Christmas. But I have to run some programs inside hard drve to the desktop computer. So I have attatched hard disk dive from my desktop to my laptop HP Pavilion 15 USB port with an enclosure.
The laptop would recognize the external hard drive as a SYSTEM (F 62.2 MB of free space of 97.9 MB, OS (GTB-free 1.11 of 1.35 TB and HP_RECOVERY (H 1.33 GB free of 11.0 GB.))) But I couldn't find the program I want to run.
I went into the BIOS to set the boot order to boot from USB first, but I could not get the result I expected. The laptop still start on its own hard drive. I tried all three USB ports, no one works.
Could someone help me please?
Thank you very much!

First of all, programs of a different version or windows session will not work on another computer as it was installed on the computer of origin at this time. It is an installation and application software, to the difference of the data or information that is accessible by any computer when the hard drive is connected. It is because no software installation binds the application of this specific operating system installed on this specific to the time machine.
If the computer does not and the hard drive is accessible, all the content (such as music, photos, videos, and other information are accessible), but the programs have been installed originally are not available and will not work on any other computer when it is connected to the outside.
However, if the hard drive works fine, windows is correctly installed, then the same hard disk can be installed on another PC of office and some of the programs should work ideally.

My Pavilion a255c 2003 will support a 250 GB hard drive addition?
I have a pavilion built in 2003 a255c. Will be the controller on my MSI MS-6577 v 2.1 (Xenon 4) motherboard support an expansion of the capacity of the original 120 GB hard drive by adding a second hard drive of 250 GB? I have the operating system Windows XP SP3 and BIOS Core Version v6.0, revision of BIOS 3.25 23/09/2003 (the last update available). Is there any other compatibility issue that I need to check?
Also, the HPs site for specs on HP Pavilion a255c, maximum RAM capacity is indicated as 1 GB (2 x 512 MB). But the HP Web site for specifications on the motherboard (Xenon 4) for Pavilion a255c, maximum capacity of RAM is listed as 2 GB. Which is correct? I have only two DIMMS on my motherboard.
1 100 means the speed of the ATA 100 hard drive. In the internal IDE hard drives, we have IDE ATA 66, 100, 133 to my knowledge.
2. I recommend do not a 7200 RPM drive and it can not detect.
3. no limitation by adding a second hard drive internal. External hard drive is not a problem at all. He will have power to USB or external power source according to the type of external hard drive.

Yes you can. You can use 7mm or 9.5 mm SSD but please note: this will void the warranty.

HP Pavilion dv6-1260se artist edition Entertainment Notebook PC Hard Drive Question
Hello, I hope someone here can answer a question for me. I have a 4 year old HP Pavilion dv6-1260se artist edition Entertainment Notebook PC and the hard drive died on me. I have been trading for the replacement of the hard disk and found a 1 TB disk toshiba sata hard I like, the original drive was a 500 GB. I'm a graphic designer in order to available disk space is important in a replacement player. The page of product for my laptop specification does not say if the original hard drive was a sata drive. Did anyone here know if a 1 TB sata drive will work in my laptop? Any help is greatly appreciated!
Your hard drive is SATA. Service and maintenance Guide lists the largest available in 500 GB hard drive. This isn't a definitive answer that your laptop can not use a 1 TB retail hard drive. However, if you use recovery disks Vista to install Windows on it, the more great concern will use a hard drive Advanced Format (AF). Most recent hard drives are AF and Vista will probably not be able to install.

I have a HP Pavilion TouchSmart f364 23 for Christmas in 2013 and in 2014, the hard drive has begun to act. I would like to turn on the computer and it does not detect the drive or does not see the files it contains. The CD drive is detected and works all the time. I've updated the BIOS, I replaced the drive with a brand new, and since the old is in an external hard drive enclosure works like new money. The computer will always have problems in windows being blockages, then crashes. I looked for the reasons of the accident and they were due to mistakes of disk access. After reboot, the drive is not detected. In Ubuntu, the drive is detected and accessible (but I can't get the windows partition to mount, with the error "Windows is put in hibernation," even with the quick start off and a full stop). The point is that Ubuntu can see and access the drive to boot from the drive itself (if possible) and a live USB. Ubuntu will crash as or experience access errors, but when restart the BIOS sees not the disc. The disc turn and accesses a little bit, but nothing happens. In addition to the exchange of discs, I also swapped sata ports on the mobo with no luck, and power connectors are different, so no swap it. I want to know now if replace HARD drive cable may solve the problem or if I need to replace the mobo or this computer is just cursed. (Father: when I asked for a desktop I do not mean all in one)
TL; DR: The Bios does not detect hard drive or detect but once at random, at random, windows crashes because of this, Ubuntu works perfectly well and has access to disk drive and boot Live, bios does not always detect drive. Tried upgrading BIOS, replacement drive and swapping mobo ports sata, no luck, CD player works great every time. You want to know if buying a new HARD drive cable works or if it is the mobo which is bad.
Also note: when I updated the BIOS it says it resets the CMOS and I repeatedly loaded by default in the BIOS settings. I have found but not yet tried the CMOS clear jumper.

Welcome to the HP Forums! To help you get the most out of the Forums of HP, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.
Thank you for posting. I read your post and I understand that the old hard drive can operate as an external drive, but the new drive and the old disk cannot be detected in the BIOS. You can run hardware diagnostics to test the motherboard and hard drive. If the motherboard and the hard disc as well spent, you can consider if it is a cable problem.

Hello
I want to upgrade a hard drive of my laptop to 250 GB SSD drive.
Did anyone of you has an idea about this?
Disc specification hard existing is as below.
- hard drives of 6.35 cm (2.5 in)
- 9.5 mm (.37 inches) and
- 7.0 mm (.28 in.) thick
- Serial ATA (SATA)
Please suggest me on this.
Thanks in advance for your time.

You can do it. Where are you located (country)? This will determine which brand of SSD can be purchased and at what price. If you can find the Samsung Evo 850 is a very good.
G6-2213so is the model and here is a video showing the replacement hard drive.

product: F4c92UA #ABA
model: 15-n261nr
just trying to understand what my compatible updates are so I Bumble and push a bunch of random updates and break my laptop
The processors in this model are soldered to the motherboard for processor update requires replacement motherboard at a very high cost. See page 19 of the manual and see how each type of processor has a number of different system (motherboard).
After extensive disassembly, you CAN install an SSD instead of hard drive. See page 59 of the manual. This operation won't jepoardize the warranty, so if do you or have done, of course you don't damage anything or HP will not stand behind it.

Dear HP,
I am former HP employee worked for many years and big fan of HP.
I bought the HP Pavilion P001tx in November 2014.
question;
1. can you exchange or upgrade from keypad with backlight one?
2. can we exchange or upgrade the Normal Hard Disk 1 TB with SSHD 1 TB keyboard?
WebCam is too dull...
Thank you.
You misunderstand my role here. I do not work for HP and I'm not the order desk. I am a user final companions. The laptop has a program backup and restore installed where you can make the recovery discs or a USB key to reinstall the software factory on a new hard drive or SSD SSHD.
You will have to find a SSHD and will make install. HP does not offer that service and I also do not, of course. It can affect your warranty. If you let us know your country of residence, we can find a good deal on the parts you want.

HPE 570 T operating system failed - hard drive may be gone
I have a HPE 570 T where exploitation would not start this weekend. I got this computer a year and change. I couldn't do it via safe mode and Windows 7 Startup Repair won't work. I was able to reimage the hard drive and I was about one hour and was some windows updates and it died again. Now it wont let me reimage and in BIOS diagnostics I get an error injury messages that the hard drive has failed. I think that the hard drive is dead, or the SATA connection is dead. I don't know what else to do.
I read that the SATA ports some time fail over time on these motherboards. I wonder if I can buy an SSD and SATA III PCI card and start from scratch. I I'm OK to do on this system. If fail built-in SATA ports that could solve my problem in the long term.
Any advice? My computer is down for the count.
Hello
First of all check the warranty status for your HP HPE - 570 t. Some of the HP PC come with a one year warranty more.
Secondly, almost everyone buys a PC using a credit card. Check with your credit card company and see if your credit card covers electronics for an additional year beyond the warranty period. Several credit card companies provide this coverage free of charge.
Start your PC in diagnostics (f2) and run diagnostics.
