HP Pavilion Elite m9340f desktop PC

Someone at - it problems with this line of PC?

My video fan sometimes makes noise and after 3 months, the power supply has failed. I know it's the power supply because I put a temp in and the PC is up and running. I opened a ticket with support because its under warranty and costs me nothing to replace. I had no trouble, trying to get this problem is resolved.

After several days travel with email support, I called and had to start over. Looks like online support staff has not done the order. If I had to start over.

At this point I should just run at the Compusa and buy a new power supply and the fan on the video card and just cut my losses and be happy.

I understand that people are human, that I went through online support, so there was a lot of confusion and it was a mistake.

Has anyone else had problems with this PC? I am a network analyst and work with HP and Compaq equipment for 10 years. RMA is nothing new for me, I have never had so much trouble getting something repaired. What is there much difference in home support and the company takes in charge?

Sorry for the mug shot, its been a long day.

Posts here are only my opinions, I do not work for HP and have no affiliation with HP other than owning a few home PC and support them here where I work.
Well, the box is there, but I have a problem. I work in a clinic in IT and I connect to the VPN from this PC.

I have a Hp Pavilion Elite m9340f desktop Pc, I want to upgrade to a Geforce GT card 545 1536 MB DDR3 PCIe 2.0 x 16 video, my pc has a 350 Watt PSU, but the video card requires a 300 watt with 18A on the + 12 Rail. The PC will support it?

Looks like it should work perfectly... just open the side cover and check that your power supply provides a minimum of 18Amps on the 12 v rail. My HP (HP p/n 5188-2625) 300 Watt POWER supply has a power of 19A on the 12V rail.

  • Pavilion Elite m9340f: m9340f windows version upgrade from Vista 64

I bought the Pavilion Elite m9340f in 2008, and the computer continues to work very well with the originally installed Vista 64-bit.

I get notifications that both IE-9 that Google-Chrome 48.0.2564.103 m are no longer in charge and not working properly with many Web sites.

I see a lot of people on the forums of the historical problems with Windows 7, 8 and 10 updates on the m9340f.  The HP support site clearly states that the m9340f has not been tested with Windows 8, and I don't see anything about HP confirming the test he m9340f with Windows 7 or 10.

I am very careful about the updates of Windows does not properly with the hardware configuration of m9340f.  Can someone please give me some advice on the modernization of this machine for a version of windows that will allow me to have the features Google Chrome and IE, but will not do something elese to become non-functional.

    Thanks in advance,

    dberberick,

The main reason I don't like the upgrade, is that the problems you had with the previous operating system tend to make their way in the new OS. You also have the previous residual files, which can cause problems.

    (1) what would be the result?

If you haven't experienced or unfamiliar problems with Windows Vista, the upgrade to Windows 7 should be simple and without problems during migration.

    (2) what version of Windows 7?

Unless you need functions of class Affairs (unique encryption, join a domain, etc.), it is not really a necessity for professionals.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

YES, the white cover means that the port / ports are not available. Most HP consumer computers automatically disable the onboard graphics when a x 16 PCIe graphics card is installed

2.i have also a port HDMI as part of the NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT can I use that and the port DVI on NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT to have two monitors?

    Yes, you can use the HDMI and DVI-channels simultaneously to support two monitors. Here are the specifications of your desktop HP Pavilion Elite m9060n. According to the specifications;

    1 - S - video *.
    2 HDMI
    3 - DVI - I (dual link) *.

According to observers, you may be able to use your current configuration to drive two displays. You can use two HDMI screens with a HDMI and a DVI-HDMI cable. You can use two monitors DVI - D DVI cable with a DVI-HDMI cable. You can also use a monitor VGA and HDMI or DVI - D and VGA monitor with appropriate adapters and/or cable. Please provide the brand and models of two monitors for most accurate response.

  • I have a Pavilion Elite m9340f. I want to update my graphics card

I have a Pavilion Elite m9340f and I was wondering if I could update my graphics card and if so what would be a good choice. Also can I upgrade my power supply?  A friend told me that I could not, because it's a computer brand, but thought I would ask someone with knowledge.  Thank you.

Robert, here is a link to the "Product information" pages for your computer:

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/prodinfoCategory?LC=en&DLC=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3740326

These pages will give you all the specifications of your computer.

Yes, you can upgrade your video card.  First, you want to make sure that there is enough room for one of the new cards to fit.  You can find this information on the manufacturer's website.  I would say we could use until a 9800GT.  I think the cards are 9 "up to 10.5".  I like XFX, BFG or EVGA cards.  They are geared toward players and are of high quality.  My favorite is XFX.

Now for your power supply power supply unit (PSU).  It can also be upgraded.  the key is to open the case and measure the existing unit.  To ensure that new fits, it should be very close to the same size.  Most ATX units are pretty close to the same size.  I recommend at least a 600W unit.  This is what I have in my game rig:

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16817341001

Again, OCZ is a company that is geared to the players and fans.  They have very reliable products.  I have one in their PSU and memory.

One last thought, a new video card will generate more heat.  Thus, some cables will be very useful.  Simply run all cables so that they do not restrict the airflow to all components.

    I hope this helps.

  • Running 4 monitors 1920 x 1200 on a Pavilion Elite I7 desktop PC (a double graphics - GTS 250 cards)

Update (November 14, 2011): there is a happy ending at the bottom of this thread. In a Word, I needed to upgrade my 700W power and install a ~ XFX HD 6870 (AMD/ATI) $ 200 video card, connect 2 monitors to 6870's connectors 2 mini DisplayPort and connect the other 2 monitors to 6870's DVI connectors.

In the original post, I went to get a second GTS 250 but I was able to do it with a single card.

    Original message:

I have already noticed that my system (HP Pavilion Elite e9180f desktop PC) supports dual Nvidia GTS 250 in the thread next where I'm looking for advice for upgrading my system to 4 monitors:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/desktop-monitors-and-video/how-do-I-upgrade-my-Pavilion-to-4-monitors/t...

I need to buy a second card Nvidia GTS 250, but they are hard to find.

The 250 GTS that came with the PC has 1 GB or RAM on it. I've only been able to find a 250 GTS with 512 MB of RAM above. Both cards will co-exist on my system if I can run 4 monitors?

I'm tempted to just bite the bullet and order 2 new cards as the GTS 250 that I find can take up to two weeks to get.

Can anyone recommend a modern replacement model for the GTS 250 (1 GB RAM) I can buy 2 and then installed in my machine (Elite e9180f) with a minimum of hassle?

I ordered (and received) a new PSU POWER 750 watt and 3 additional monitors to 24 "(et un stand)."

    Thank you

Because I'm a spread for the penalty, I went ahead and ordered the XFX HD 6870 and returned the XFX HD 6850.

Only after you have installed the 6870 I realized this video card requires 2 PCI express power connectors. Of course, my stock PSU only has a PCI express slot so I went down to Staples and bought a power supply 700W (a RetailPlus PS700W). I installed myself (without the help of a technician that I had seen what the technician had to do when I hired one to try to replace the stock power supply with a Corsair 750W) and it worked. It was last Thursday and the machine works since then.

The 3 HP ZR24w monitors I ordered came with a regular DisplayPort cable but I needed 2 Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable. I have ordered them to my place of local parts (OEM Express) and they came today.

I plugged praying them, and then they played.

So to get 4 monitors running a single card, I had to put my diet to 700 watts, install a XFX HD 6870 (it's a Radeon ATI/AMD with 2 x connectors DVI, an HDMI connector and mini 2 DisplayPort connectors) and order 3 HP ZR24w monitors. 2 monitors should be connected via the adapter mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort Cables and the other 2 are connected via DVI.

From what I can tell, HD 68 x series video cards can drive only 2 DVI monitors at a time and if you need at least 2 aswell able DisplayPort monitors.

    Hello:

If you post them details of the device string ID for each device in the Details tab in XP, I can send you the link for the drivers.

For now, I can send pilots based on the material in the manual, and if your PC has different hardware, so I could waste your time and mine.

Always install the first chipset driver:

  • HP Pavilion Elite m9340f replacement video card and power supply

    Hello

I bought my HP Pavilion Elite at Best Buy m9340f in 2009 and brought it to the Venezuela where I live now.

My video card, started making the noise of the typical fan geforce 9500gs can do. The temperature of the gpu is very high (from 73 ° c without playing or watching videos!), and I'id like to replace it as soon as possible before my material fails completely.

But the power supply 350w, to replace any video card decent needed to change my diet too. I have not the slightest idea of what type of power supply should I buy, and if I should replace the case too. My intention is to keep my cpu, my mother, my hard drive and my ram (purchase of a new system to the Venezuela is out of the question because of the barbarian prices in this country).

Then to take the questions in order, I'll here:

-I want another video card (geforce 9500gs is known for his failure, so I want to upgrade to a more powerful card)

-To do this, I need another power supply, so I need recommendations on the provision of market models which CORRESPOND to my HP Pavilion Elite m9340f or

-replace also the case: what kind of business should I need that corresponds to the motherboard of benicia

    Thanks in advance

The information below was previously published by Big_Dave in response to several other posters about their questions about GPU upgrades. Prices shown are in U.S. dollars and for American retailers.

Your PC has a 350 Watt PSU if below video cards will work:

    $50--->NVIDIA GT 430 9.6 Gbps - single slot width

    $65--->NVIDIA GT 520 8 Gbps - single slot width

    $80--->NVIDIA GT 440 25.6 GB/s - single slot width

$130-->NVIDIA GT 545 43 Gbps - location single width - could be hard to find but perhaps only in the store

$110-->NVIDIA GT 240 1 GB DDR5. 54.4 GB/s - single slot width. This card does not support DirectX 11 which is eventually used in some of the latest PC games but it's a great performer.

Review the performance of NVIDIA specifications. Look at the specifications of strip memory bandwidth and level of DirectX support.

I normally don't recommend video cards AMD for PC with a 350 Watt power supply as AMD provides 400 watts or more for most of its video cards.

  • I have a HP Pavilion Elite i7 Desktop w Windows 7 and I want to add a 3 TB hard. I can?

I have an i7 HP Pavilion Elite Desktop w 2 year, Windows 7 and I want to add a 3 TB hard.  Can I add a 3 TB hard (probably known as the Segate Barracuda XT 3 TB HD) as a secondary disk without changes.  If this is not the case, what should I do?

Short answer is not really. You need UEFI BIOS to do, and your system did not come with it. You could add it, but only 2.2 to be visible as a single drive. Using utilities... etc. of the manufacturer of the HARD drive, you could partition to see the rest, but as hard disks get bigger, the BIOS must change to adapt. They changed, but still yours is the older BIOS inherited, and there is no way to change it to a UEFI version.

    Sorry
