I recommend the Samsung Evo 850 SSD. If you are using a current distribution of Ubuntu in dual boot with Windows 7 or higher, you will have full use of the speed of the SSD in the two OS' are. I am typing this on my laptop with a main drive of the WSSD m2, 10 Windows and Kubuntu (a variant of Ubuntu) 15.10 and both are very quick to start and run. On your model of replacing the hard drive for an SSD isn't easy and can compromise security. After the return if you need to a video instruction or manual.

  • Pavilion g6-2006ax: SSD upgrade for Pavilion g6-2006ax

I want to upgrade an HDD to SSD, is it possible with my cell phone and if yes what SSD would be compatible? Is there a reading / writing speed limit to consider etc.?

Here is the link to the my notebooks specifications

I have searched google using many different sentences but have not been able to get confirmation of this, the best that I found was a manual under the user guides for the g6-2006ax on the site of HP, HP Pavilion Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide g6 as HARD a drive Bay labels ' Solid State drive (SSD) / disk hard bay " (page 25) , but when I continue to read about it does list that the various Intel CPU (page 31) while my laptop has a processor AMD A6 - 4400 M, when I read further down the list to the hard drives it list only various HARD drives without mention of SSD (page 32) thanks to the dating. PDF except in the labelling of the Bay of HARD drive so that left me very uncertain and confused.

If someone could shed some light on this for me it would be greatly appreciated

Here's the real manual for your laptop:

You can simply replace the mechanical hard drive with a 2.5 inches wide and 7 or 9.5 mm thick SSD SATA laptop computer. Don't worry about transfer speeds. The most recent, more rapid will be to downclock your speed of the SATA bus. It will be always lightning fast compared to what you have. Best SSD on the market is a Samsung 850 Evo. That's what I have in my own laptop.

You have no need to worry about BIOS settings or anything. Just treat the SSD as a hard drive. If you get an SSD that is large enough, we can help you just clone the old disk to the SSD or we can walk you through several ways to get an operating system, drivers and programs on the SSD drive.

  • Pavilion 15-p126ng SSD upgrade

Hi guys, first of all sorry for the question, I know it's in the forum several times, but not for my specific model.
I have a Pavilion 15-p126ng and I wanted to buy an SSD for her a little push. Now, I hope you can help me to find the best way to do it.

    It is best to:

    (1) remove the DVD drive and install the SSD with a caddy.

    (2) swap with the SSD HARD drive and put the HHD with a shopping cart, or if non of the above is possible,.

    (3) swap HDD with SSD and use the external HARD drive?

And, finally, what SSD would fit in and who could recommend you? (capacity about 125-250GB)

    Thank you very much!
    Phil

See page 94 of the repair for the Pavilion 15-p100 series here:

    Manual link

Disc compartment hard requires a pretty extensive disassembly and put at risk, but not to void the warranty. In other words, if you break something in the process, you're on your own, but if it goes well, HP will still honor the warranty.

DO NOT want to put the SSD in one of these media for DVD player, why? Couple reasons. 1. the interface for the caddy is slower, so you do not get much benefit from the speed of the SSD. and 2. In a caddy of optical disc (DVD) drive is not bootable, so it can be used as storage device only.

I'm not a big fan of optical drive caddies, but if you just need storage move forward and get an and place the original inside for storage hard drive. You can always play the MP3 of it and watch movies stored on the hard drive in the caddy, but if you need an optimal speed as to edit a video or make a large photoshop on a bunch of image files, it will significantly slow to respond.

The best SSD on the market in my opinion is a Samsung 850 Evo. I would like to don't mess with the 120 gig: too small. I would get at least a 250 gig, which will allow you to use HP recovery discs. Alternatively, you can make a clone of the original disc

15-ab157nr Hp Pavillion laptop has recently begun to slow get and I think it's from the hard disk. My question is if anyone knows of an SSD that I could use to replace the current HARD drive.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

See p. 49 for hard drive files and reinstalling the SSD. It can use any 2.5 inches wide of 9.5 or, more probably 7 mm thick SSD instead of hard drive. Access the hard disk is not really easy and compromise security.

My DVAR is a Samsung 850 Evo like this:

Your existing hard drive is 500 concerts, so it would be wiser to get a 500 GB SSD. Posrt back if you need help with the software reinstall/migration.

  • HP Pavilion 400f: on SSD drive

Hello!  I want to install an SSD in my desktop, but I don't know if it is compatible with my computer model or not. Can someone help me with this please?

    Jorilalbima, welcome to the forum.

Here is the SSD that Crucial says are compatible with your computer (Elite HPE-400f).  If they recommend, if it doesn't work for some reason, they'll replace it free of charge for you.  If you look at the page of the centre left, there are installation guides that will help you with the installation.

There are other brands that will work, but Crucial made great records.

  • Replace the HHD Pavilion m7 with SSD boot drive

I have a Samsung 840 Evo SSD that I managed to install in the 2nd internal drive Bay. It works great as a second internal drive, but I want to make the boot drive for Windows 8.1 or simply swap with the internal HD, which is the current startup disk.

I used the program Samsung disk magician to clone the internal HD to the SSD, but it does not appear in the BIOS, so I can't select it as your startup disk. I tried to boot from the SSD with the internal HD disconnected and it fails, apparently because the laptop does not see the operating system on it.

I updated the BIOS to F.29, which is the current version, but the SSD simply does not appear in the BIOS.

    Any help is most appreciated!

Go to disk management and check if the SSD is an indicator of STARTING activated. Use Gparted: http://gparted.org/

Hi I'm looking to upgrade my dell dimension 4400 and I wonder if there is a motherboard that fits this case and support a drive sata hard and between 4 GB to 8 GB of ram

    gators36

I doubt it, because Dimension 4400 systems, have Dell motherboards and cases/chassis with exclusive features.

You may have problems to install an ATX motherboard in a Dell case.

The rear i/o Panel can align properly, then you might have to change that.

Both ATX case and motherboards do not have the same front wiring connectors that use 4400.

Dell uses an owner Ribbon to the front connector, while the standard ATX cases use Molex type connectors, you will need to find a way to redo the electric installation of the front panel and USB ports, because Dell has never published the details of the pinout.

It cost less likely to buy an ATX case retail, as well as a motherboard.

  • Pavilion g6-2205ep (C3M05EA): that the SSD is compatible with my laptop?

    Hello

I'm looking at some SSD to upgrade my laptop computer (pavilion g6-2205ep). Before buying one, I would like to know if they are compatible with my laptop.

I tried, but I have not found a definitive answer.

    option 1:

MX100 crucial CT512MX100SSD1 2.5 "512GB SATA III MLC internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

    option 2:

SAMSUNG 850 PRO MZ-7KE512BW 2.5 "SATA III 3D Vertical 512GB internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

    option 3:

    OCZ-VERTEX4 2.5 "512 GB (SSD)

Does anyone know if any of these SSD will work?

    Thanks for the help!

Stay away from the MX100. Many problems reported here for reasons that nobody has been able to understand. The Samsung 850 is the best SSD on the market but the OCZ is also good.

  • Looking for a block of POWER 500 ~ 550W that fits HP pavilion 500-023w desktop

I bought a Dynex 520w ATX PSU for HP pavilion 500-023w.  This power supply is about 1.5 cm longer than the original and just, it does not in my computer.  It is too big.

Previously, I had Thermaltake TR2 430w PSU.  This is of same size as the original power supply. But it won't last even 3 months. IDK, maybe it's not enough for geforce 2 650.

I'm looking for a PSU that adapts to the 500-023w Pavilion and able to run 650 geforce.

Please can someone recommend some PSU?

After watching the dynex 520was reference, it is noted that it is the depth 6.3 "on this case. What you asked has a power supply with only 5.5 "deep. These meet your requirement.

Rosewill 530W or 630W, as these two are depth 5.5 ".

No OCZ in the range of 500W which is depth 5.5 "

Corsair 500w 5.5 "depth, the Corsair CX600 might be a good choice, but it is sold out at this time.

Any of these will provide a GTX 650 card needs. I love the Rosewill 630W. It will draw only what suits him.

  • HP Pavilion G6 2231sc: updated HP Pavilion G6 2231sc SSD

    Hello

so, my drive is probably leaving me as I write, I got a few BSOD in the morning and CHKDSK is now to find tons of bad clusters in all directions.

So my main question is, my laptop will support an SSD if I buy it?

Second, I checked the hardware specifications posted here and it does not say very much at the disk - I'm mostly concerned about size or all the other features that the reader must have, so I know what to look for when buying a new drive, SSD or HDD. Does anyone know what or where to get them? Unless the easiest way is to take out the drive and measure...

Thirdly, my Windows 8.1 license will be preserved even if I install it on a clean hard disk?

Other clues about replacing the disk hard drive are welcome, I've never done it before (but with the help of this forum, I managed to upgrade my RAM... year correctly).

    Hello

Your machine uses the standard 750 GB SATA (5400 RPM) for laptops and

    1. Yes, it supports SSD.

2 special issue of shape and size (physically). Will fit any standard SSD or HARD drive for laptops. Normally the SSD is thinner but sellers will provide plasttic fram rubber to keep them in HARD drive bays (alsi cresws them be held in places).

    3. the key is actually in the BIOS, so in theory, you can install without any problems. But in practice, you can have some small hiccups of Microsoft.

To remedy this, the best option is to contact HP and order a set of recovery media for your computer. Help you the Maintenance and Service Guide wil.
