HP Pavilion laptop: new Pavilion so slow...

Good evening to all!

Without doubt, this has been covered before so I apologize in advance.

Had this laptop a little more a month to replace an aging Toshiba which was ok, but kept losing the plot.  Real happy when I got this new overhead more & so fast!

So here we are a month on. Have been using for a few hours a day & now it is so slow that I am using the old Toshiba. Now I'm no expert, but I thought I should get Quen more value of months of use out of it before he died. Especialy because it isn't the cheapest HP out there.

To give an example. Ebay.co.uk & go TypeRegeditdans. Pick up my phone & typeRegeditdans ebay.co.uk & go. Phone goes directly to her while this laptop is still looking then expires... * beep * her frustrating!

Someone at - it ideas? I'm a thug? Does reset? Perhaps beaten with a stick? Any suggestions welcome & with a little luck, I can get this resolved.

Just keep in mind, I'm not not connected with computer customer is called try & keep it simple please.

Thank you all very much!

Lets get it FIXED!

  • My Satellite laptop Vista preinstalled running slow

    Hello

I use Vista Home Premium on my Toshiba laptop and everytime I open any folder for example my document, my computer it takes about 10 seconds to load properly, can someone help me please because its makin me depressed especially when I bought it not long ago. Here's my laptop specs...

    Toshiba, Windows Vista Home Premium
Intel Pentium Dual CPU T2370 1.73 GHZ, 2 GB Ram

    Hello

What cell phone do you have exactly?

I must say that a fact that a Vista needs 10 seconds to open a file doesn't mean that your laptop is running slowly.
There are many reasons why Vista needs a little more to open a folder.
First he must know that Vista needs a lot of material resources; more than a Win XP or other Windows operating system. In addition, the high amount of background processes can slow down the Vista.
Last but do not rent if an antivirus program is installed on the laptop, then this could slow down the performance too because each file is activated by the Antivirus before opening.

What you could do is to start the msconfig and you can check in the Startup tab if there are processes and applications that are not important for you.
Then you can turn it off.

    Good bye

  • How can I transfer files from my old pc sony Vista for my laptop new HP 17-j003

How can I transfer files from my old sony pc running vista for my laptop new HP 17-j003 Windows 8

Welcome to the HP, Roodie forum.

There is an easy way to do it using Microsoft Windows Easy Transfer :

Transfer files and settings from another PC

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you do not want to transfer files using the easy transfer method, you can manually make the copy.

    1. You can connect the systems on the same network,
    2. Define the folders that contain your data transfer to 'Share' on the network
    3. Map the drive on your new Vista computer system network
    4. Copy the data you want to transfer

    On the Vista Machine:

    • Open a Windows Explorer window,
    • Right click on the folder that contains the data you want to 'share' (transfer)
    • Click Properties > share > share and follow the instructions to allow the folder to be shared on the network

    On the Machine Windows 8:

    • Windows key (opens the start screen) > anywhere type 'computer' >
    • Click on "computer" to open the "Computer" File Explorer window >
    • Click map network drive and follow the instructions to map the drive

Don't forget: If your account name is different on the Vista computer, you will need to click on "Sign in using different credentials" and then enter the name of the account on the Vista computer AND the password for this account.

You can do this with the upper or lower level folders folder level - as long as the folder is shared, you should have general access to the data it contains.

There are cases where you will not end up being "owner" of the data transferred - you will have to perhaps enter and adjust the property for files / folders after they are copied to the computer of Windows 8.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 - slow start compared to laptop older?

    Hello

I recently bought a new Pavilion dv6 but noticed that there a start more slow times compared with my old Toshiba Portege R705-P35. I'm just curious as to why this is since the Portégé has much lower than my flag specs.

    Thank you

    TheLongBoarder

    Hi TheLongBoarder,

The slow start could be caused by several different things. The first thing you want to do when diagnosed with a problem with a computer, is if it's a hardware problem or a software problem. In your case, I think it would be a hardware problem. You shouldn't have a problem with the memory or the speed of your hard drive. This model must be run at least 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM.

It also depends what 'boot' you talk about.

    1. if it was the boot of when you press the power button to the Windows login screen (post), it could be a problem with the BIOS. May not have the most recent version, or the settings in the BIOS cannot be addressed to optimize speed and start Windows.

If the version of the BIOS is the problem, you can find the latest version by going to the page drivers downloads HP, select the exact model of your laptop (i.e.. dv6-6c35dx) number, select your operating system and navigate to the section called "BIOS". Follow the instructions below to check if the currently installed version is newer or older version online.

    1. Click on Start and then run.

    2. In the text box on the run window, type regedit and click OK. This will open the registry editor program.

Note: Do not make changes to any entry anywhere in the registry editor to avoid causing serious problems in the system. These steps only directly allow you to display a registry entry, is not to make changes.

    3. Find the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE under my computer folder and click the plus sign (+) after the folder name to expand the folder.

    4. In records resulting, find and click the plus sign (+) next to the hardware STORE to expand this folder.

    5. In records resulting, find and click on the (+) sign next to the DESCRIPTION to expand this folder.

    6. In records resulting, locate and click the folder System .

    7. In the results displayed in the right window, locate the entries SystemBiosVersion andSystemBiosDate .

    8. The data in the SystemBiosVersion field contains the version of the BIOS of your motherboard. This field can also contain additional information such as the manufacturer of the chipset and the manufacturer of the BIOS.

    9. The data in the field SystemBiosDate contains the date in the calendar associated with the current version of the BIOS of your motherboard. The date of the BIOS can be useful to determine the current version of the BIOS from the motherboard manufacturer's Web site if the version is not clear in the area of SystemBiosVersion .

    10. Close the registry editor without making any changes.

The BIOS settings: If the problem is with the settings in the BIOS, there are a couple of tweeks that allow you to optimize speed. When you turn on the computer, the BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) works a lot of tests on devices and configure the devices connected to your computer. If some parameters are not configured correctly, the startup of your PC speed can be reduced. Enter the BIOS setup and look for commands or settings that may not be correct. To be sure, run a Google search to be sure. Make sure that your first boot device is set on your main hard drive. Make sure that the logo of the motherboard display is turned off. And make sure that the Quick start quick start feature is activated.

2 if your talking about startup as the loading process connection Windows for a full load of Windows in the Windows desktop, you may have a problem with too many programs to load with windows. In this case, you can easily check and disable all programs unwanted on startup with Windows, which can cause speed problems. You can do this:

    1. click "Start" and type "msconfig" in the search bar and press "enter."

    2. This will open "System Configuration utility".

    3. on the right side of the window, navigate to the tab "start".

    4. you will see a list of all programs to load with Windows. Here, you can decide what you do or you want to load with Windows. Some programs are required to load with Windows so that Windows load and run properly, so careful who you disable. If you are not sure if it's necessary for Windows, you can do a quick search on google to be sure. Search for the song titled "startup item". Copy and paste in Google and type "is"EXAMPLE"necessary to start Windows? You will usually find your answer quickly enough.

Slow start could be caused by a couple of other reasons as well.

    1.  fragmented - registry Windows registry is the most indispensable of the Windows operating system. When he begins to have problems with the registry, the speed and functionality of Windows becomes considerably slower. I doubt that this could be the problem with your computer. It is possible, but it is new and that if you have applied heavy use in a short period of time, it is not the likely culprit. If it, however, it's worth a check. You can find a good registry cleaner online and give him a check.

2 of virus or Spyware infections- once the infections on the computer, they can cause immediate damage to Windows features. If you have been online a lot, even with an anti-virus program, you may have a virus any. You must run a full scan just to be sure. You can also download the free version of Malwarebytes and run as well. It works very well and is quite powerful.

Hope that this helped you and you have this problem is resolved. If you have any other questions, do not hesitate to me message. In fact, I have a model dv6 that I may be able to help in any future issues, you may have.

    Later,.

  • Pavilion dv6 slow and non-responsive

    Hello

I have a pavilion referbished with Windows 7 about 6 months ago and for most of the time it worked great. However, one day he gave me an error message during start-up by saying he could not start and that he should try again. I have yet to get this error, but since then he acted weird. It starts normally and the first first seems normal, if there might be a little slow. However, after about 10 to 20 minutes of use, it will start to slow down the hydro-huileuses gel and effectivly upward. I can still control slider, but most of the programs are no longer.

    Three other things:

    (1) Norton will not open, even if I try as soon as the computer starts when everything else works fine

    2) unless I try immediately after start-up computor not restart or shut down. The icons will disappear, but it does not start to close. It also has problems going in the Task Manager after the first few minutes.

    (3) it works perfectly in safe (at least relitive in safe mode) mode.

    What I've done so far:

I did a full scan of malwarebytes: he found nothing but during the scan, a message saying poped windows is maybe damaged.

I called Norton:  I tried to figure out why it wouldn't boot up normally and it does not work in SafeMode (which is dumb). They had me run another program designed to run in safe mode, what did not and could not help me with another problem.

I did a system restore- it did nothing

I did a scan of the memory- he also found nothing

I called windows tech sup port - they were completely unhelpful and told me to talk to hp

I went to h p sup port: I did a scan of the missing drivers and found I was missing an update of the BIOS. I installed it and it seemed to help at first, but the probblem remains.

I think that there is a driver, or something on windows which is corruppted, or else I have a virus that is very well hidden. Unfortunettly my simptems aren't enough destinct for google - able. Is their no way to deal with this, without having to reinstall windows?

In addition, you seem to be able to pass Windows 7 ro 8 without losing data (or vista to 7), can do you a re - install any without losing files. If I have to reinstall some programs it is very good. I know it must be something that I ask micrcosoft, but as I said they were completely useless and told me to check with hp.

Hello Wigmy.  I understand that you are having problems related to slowdowns, ultimately makes the phone unusable.  Is this correct?

Honestly, it seems you did a very good job to go beyond the usual suspects.  You did a scan for viruses and malware, with no luck.  Make sure that all drivers are up to date, and who had no effect.  You also tested the memory, and it passed.

I see a little more possibilities here.  A possibility is that the hard disk contains errors, then you will want to check that as well.  Another possibility and one who seems more likely to me is that some of the system of the operating system files are damaged or that you are indeed infected with a stealth virus.  I think that this second option is the culprit, due to the fact that the laptop works very well when it is started in safe mode.

First, make sure that the disk hard past the built in hard drive test.

    1. Reboot the laptop.
    2. Until the BIOS loads, press F10.
    3. Under Diagnostic Tools Select Hard Drive Test and let it run.
    4. Display the result.

Once we exclude the corruption/problems with the hard disk, the next step will be to do a full recovery of the machine.  , You will lose all data that you do not back up.  The Recovery Manager will be an option allowing you to back up your files.  However, you can start in safe mode and save a USB key or external hard drive as well.

Here are the steps for recovery.

    1. Restart the PC.
    2. Press F11 during boot up until the Recovery Manager starts to load.
    3. Select "System Recovery" and follow the instructions.
    4. Allow the recovery complete and verify that this solves the problem.
    5. Display the result.

I hope you find this useful!

  • HP Pavilion p6310t slow?

I recently bought my father desktop Hp Pavilion p6310t December 2010, it was to find work as a butterfly until the later this past August that whenever he logs in to his account and about two minutes later, the desktop icon started to freeze when I tried Hoover top and prevents me to access it by clicking on it a couple of times. However, the taskbar (explorer.exe) are able to work, also the printer also started acting again as well, but I guess that the printer was quite old. He never used a lot of space, it has about a quarter of the space on his drive there hard drive 300 GB of hard drive space I guess than ever before but which seems to be a problem. I also checked the programs he installed but not many programs showed up crowded as I suspected, I ran disk defragmentation and cleaning of system files and a cleaning program I downloaded as well, but still NO LUCK. I don't want to reinstall because I don't have an installation disc in the first box opening and with the restoration of the system, although only a little bit my fault because I forgot to restore it there earlier that day. But any other suggestions? Thank you very much, my father has a stress today because his printer stopped working and of course this slow computer. Thank you!!

    Arbit, you are welcome.

  • Pavilion m9000t - slow, locked up in response on the internet

I have a Pavillion m9000t bought in October 2007.  Over the last few months, the system became horribly slow when I'm wandering around the internet.  When I click on a site to visit the system usually goes to a blank screen when the bar blue low left creepy little slowly (very slowly) in its box.  Sometimes the site is actually achieved, but more often the note says 'done' but still white screen. Close this window brings back me to the previous window.  The system responds very well to the local level tasks such as word processing, calculation and Photoshop sheets.  I ran each diagnostic that I can find, including defragmentation and various analyses.  I use Norton Security software and have spent at least three hours on the phone with their technicians while they looked for a virus or something else, and they could find nothing.  I used the HP Windows Vista Hardware Diagnostic tools, test each part of the system, and no problems have emerged.  I'm puzzled.

The new AT & T modem has arrived this afternoon, and the problem is solved!  Thank you very much for your help.

  • My new laptop new and old problems.

    Hello

I bought a laptop yesterday (12/02/2014) and to be more specific.

I have 2 laptops both are hp
G7 and (pavilion dv7) bought yesterday Hitman Pavilion

    G7 Pavilion has a processor 2.30 ghz
Pavilion dv7 has 3.00 ghz processor (AMD phenom 2 N660)

both have 4 GB of ram, both are running windows 7 64-bit (dv7 runs g7 professional courses Home premium)

G7 Pavilion has a rating of 4.6 for windows experience index

I believe that the dv7 has been formatted by the owners of the store in order to correct any problems, he showed before.

Pavilion dv7 has a rating of 3.6 - I think than before they formatted, it that the coast was nearly 4.9 or 5.0
not only the lower side of what the computer itself feels less fast when I use it.

Why is that what it is now and how get it to be as fast as the g7 or as fast as it used to be?

After you install a few drivers/software I restarted and it took 15 minutes to show him the windows logo
I think it might be caused by a bad installation of the bios because the browser shows that they have downloaded
an update for the bios, then maybe reinstall will fix the problem?

I ran the test of note again after the drivers/software/update and it is now 4.4, but I'm still not satisfied since
My G7, which is processor 2.30 GHz has a rating of 4.6

    Thank you.

my experience the indices for both computers is lowest in the graphics
which is 4.6 for g7 and 4.4 in the dv7
but as I said to george, most of the subscores components is less in the dv7, and then on the g7

    Model:

going to check the hp and the CMOS thing.

It is possible for an individual computer to have abnormal results due to a problem of material or another, but it is impossible to judge according to the information provided here.

I still don't know the specifications for your particular G7.  I've looked at HP specs for the G7 a dozen variants, and none of them had a 2.3 Ghz processor. So as far as I know, scores you get may be exactly what would wait for material to each machine.

For example, if I look at the Passmark score cards by comparing the graphic Mobility Radeon HD 4250 to the D7, which marks only 98, it is 30-40% slower than the Intel HD graphics adapter that comes in most of the models of the G7 (note 130). Specific details of importance here.

The same way if I compare the score D7s Phenom II N660 Passmark of 1851 with a processor Intel Pentium p6200 a G7 clocked at 2.13 Ghz (1342), or an AMD A4 - 3300M (1236), the D7 should be considerably faster. OTOH if the G7 had a Core i3-M350 performer @2.27 Ghz, then despite the execution more slow 700 Mhz of the G7 still has the CPU slightly higher score of the two with a pass mark of 1911.

We have not discussed RAM but if for example the RAM in the D7 has been changed with incompatible

modules of memory, that the speed of the memory could be significantly reduced its out-of-factory specifications.
