HP Pavilion s5-1414 failed to turn on

I have a HP Pavilion recently new model #: s5-1414.  When I plug it into the power supply, the Green led lights up as expected.  However, after pressing the power switch on the front, the green light will fade.  Also the CPU fan and case turns on momentarily and then turn off.

I've tried a few things to debug it (mainly unplugging everything that I can get my hands on), and it turns out that when the power connector 24 pin to the motherboard is disconnected, then the power supply will remain lit after the failover of the front power switch.

This seemss me like either my power supply went bad (after less than a year?) or some defect (short) has developed somewhere on the motherboard.  Ideas/tips for more debugging?  Any help is much appreciated-thanks a lot!

PS - I tried the steps in Trouble Shooting Power Supply issues without a bit of luck, and there isn't really a way to ' light is on but turns off after start-up.

You are welcome!

It is a long shot, but I wonder if the power supply unit (PSU) has failed.  This doesn't happen often, but it is not impossible.  The symptoms may be caused by a power supply.  Here's a guide to help you troubleshoot it.

I bought a power supply several years and it was DOA.  For example, a faulty power supply may be possible.

Has had a major disaster last night.

Tried to update the BIOS on a Pavilion H8J91EA #ABU failed; Displays the boot block update message (or something like that - don't remember exactly) message stayed on the screen for centuries and then blacked out.  Now, the machine seems totally dead.  I tried the method of recovery of bios key 'Windws-key' and 'B' without result.

Does anyone know if this feature is supported on the #ABU H8J91EA

    Thank you

    It sort!

After failing to install the new BIOS understandable machine does not start.

The option Windows key & B to retrieve the original BIOS is supported on this model but would not work.

If you leave the machine off for a few hours the BIOS recovery works fine the first time try you it. but once the BIOS has loaded the system was unable to restart to complete the installation. Returning to the State where you cannot call the BIOS recovery feature and the machine is completely dead.

    Solution in my case was...

    • Power down machine
    • Leave for a few hours
    • Turn on, all holding the key windows and 'B '.
    • Wait for the BIOS recovery to start and release the keys.
    • Answer all questions and wait for the reboot to start.
    • If it does not start, turn the machine off and leave for a few hours.
    • Turn on the machine, and with a little luck, the boot will continue.
    • Answer any questions that you are asked, and wait.
    • Breathe a sigh of relief...

    Hello

When you start your laptop, press F2 and enter the BIOS settings. If you can do this BIOS setting to default and try to start it again.
When the same thing happen again try it please use F8 at startup. You can enter advanced startup options?

Also, check if you have access to the recovery image and if installation of HARD drive recovery is possible?
    Check please - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm

  • Pavilion p7-1414 map video noise

My Pavilion p7-1414 video card began to make noise of fan.  Cleaned and reinstalled.  Always noisy.  If gently, you hold the fan and prevent it from spinning noise constantly.

Has tried to buy a replacement at Best Buy, and I was told no way.  They don't wear them.  Mine is a PNY210 with 1.0 not 2.0, which is what they have now.

    Where/what to replace this card?

    Thank you

The card would be acceptable with your power of 300W. But - you will need to modify the UEFI BIOS to accept the new card.

  • HP Pavilion p7-1414 will not boot from the CD

    Hello

I recently bought your desktop HP Pavilion p7 1414, I am trying to boot from a CD to reinstall Windows 8 - I put the CD to start first in the BIOS, but when I restart the computer and I have the CD, "press any key to boot from the CD" is not displayed.  It starts just directly to the computer HARD disk in Windows to connect.

I have 64-bit Windows 8. 6 GB of RAM and a terabyte of HARD drive space.  I'm looking to reinstall Windows 8 for a new start.  Any ideas why it won't boot from the CD?

    Very happy!

    Hello:

You must go into the BIOS and enable the legacy Mode and disable secure boot.

  • HP Pavilion P7-1459 fails to start after installing a new video card

I bought a GeForce GT 640 video card to put in my new HP Pavilion P7-1459, after checking the specs. The card requires a PCI-Express x 16 for Version 3.0 slot. Check, the HP Pavilion P7-1459 has one of those and all the other cards speca are well below systems.

After uninstalling the ATI driver and withdrawal of the card Radeon 7450, I put the 640 TG in the PCI-Express slot and turn on the machine.  Fails it hard machine and the system does not start.

I have already tested the card in another machine and it work very well, is not the card.

    Any ideas?

Please check the minimum recommended configuration for the 640 GT power. Your computer has a 300 Watt power supply, and it seems that most cards of TG 640 recommend a 350 Watt power supply.

  • Pavilion dv7-4070us Fail short DST (failure ID PKVV5g - 5525T 4 - XD003G - 60QN03)

    Hello

Last year, I bought the laptop from HP Pavilion dv7-4070us, running windows 7 64 bit. Everything was fine and dandy until recently. These days I only watched youtube videos and TV shows, when one day I turn on my computer to find that it remains on the splash screen of Windows 7 for an abnormal amount of time. This happened to me once before, but for some strange reason, (FYI: I'm tech savvy, so this question was a little weird) it was set the last time. However, unlike last time, the issue has not been resolved, the loading times still takes like 5 min or more. More when I run the diagnostic system test, the hard drive failed the short DST with the id of the fault: PKVV5g - 5525T 4 - XD003G - 60QN03.

In addition, I ran the (samsung "collaborates" with seagate) drive hard seagate diagnostic with the same result, short failure of DST, but generic long and short generic and chip is checked and passed. So I was wondering if anyone had this similar problem and how did you resolve the situation. Again, the only thing I've done recently is only go on internet to see youtube and television series/films, only changes would be updated to windows. Another think I really have not tinkered around with the system.

Searching high and low, it seems that I might have to replace the hard drive. However, I hope to not have to do it because the warranty just expired a few months ago. If someone could please answer or help I would appreciate it a lot! Happy holidays.

PS. If you need more information, just ask. Thanks again!

Failure of the DST is always in my experiences of time to replace the hard drive. Better, download your backed up files soon because sometimes the failure comes quickly after this notice.

  • Pavilion 15-p155nr: failed to retrieve Windows 8.1 on Pavilion 15-p155nr. Help, please.

Hello. I have a problem with my laptop HP Pavilion 15-p155nr. I just purchased and decided to change for one SSD HARD drive. I had done it before on another HP laptop. Now, I saved the image of Windows 8.1 on three DVD - DL discs, with the help of creation of HP Recovery Manager, which is preinstalled in the system. The discs have been recorded correctly. I disassembled my laptop computer and changed in SSD HARD drive. Then I started from the first recovery disk and start the download. It downloaded all the necessary information of all three DVDs and began to intall. This lasted about 2.5 hours and finally, during the installation should have completed, Recovery manager gave me some errors. I can't find any information on this error in the net, so I decided to write to HP support so that there is no other way to solve this problem. Errors, you can see on the photo. I want also to emphasize, that a new SSD has been initialized and MBR has been set.

UPDATE! The system was installed, but when I opened this computer or workstation (what you want) I noticed that there is no recovery partition... I guessed that it will happen. Help! What is the problem that Recovery manager fails to install this partition?

UPDATE 2!  I tried to get back on 500 GB HARD drive and it does! Now I have the only question - 256 GB SSD will be adapted covers? I ask exactly about 256 GB SSD because I can change 120 to 256, pay more, but the 512 GB SSD is too expensive for me.

If the SSD is much smaller capacity than the original hard drive there may not be enough space for the recovery partition plus size of the necessary recovery for Windows partition. I know it seems to require more that it is really necessary, but it is an image used to restore. Most of the people have not even get so successful - and totally refusing to install on the smaller hard drive recovery.

When, I hear the fan running.

    What I've tried;

Hung still no display on an external monitor

Removed and reinstall the memory and hard drive, not good.

Tried the hard reset, not good.

I put another hard drive just to see if the disc was not, but no difference.

There is no audible beeps at all. It does not seem to go through the checkpoint.

  • Pavilion g4-1117DX: fail to complete the restore of HP. Error mess - 'Error of CTO Flg' + ' [205] UIA writing failed 3 times!

After failing to recover my system from hard on the D-disk partition recovery software, I bought HP Recovery disks from HP support turned on the PC and installed the first disk according to the instructions. I also pressed ESC on powerup and then selected F9 to boot from the DVD. After 5 minutes of access to records of HP recovery in the DVD player, an error message led indicating that "HP restore incomplete". I looked at the details of the error and showed an other error message stating "[205] UIA writing failed 3 times! In any case I try to do the PC recover either by the recovery using the HP Recovery Manager Software Manager & recovery on the drive partition hard D or using the HP Recovery DVD s I get two ways the same 'error CTO flg' + ' [205] UIA writing failed 3 times. Anything else that can be done, please?

Thanks for the reply. Since I posted my problem on this Forum description, I worked directly with the HP Support and finally concluded that I have needed to push the F9 key button immediately that the PC has been poweringup. Do this correctly then leave the HP recovery disks provided (I bought them from HP) be read by the system and recovery properly executed.

But it shows there is some question buggy with the test drive HP I ran several times and each time has shown an error message of hard drive with result [305] and also [303] - that led me to that almost an expensive for a 320 GB hard drive HP replacement purchase.

Fortunately HP support people were so full with me and kep remember to follow-up with me to see how I was doing and then I got my laptop HP back from work. otherwise I would have made a mistake and installed the third disk, driver HP disk - and his great work now faster than ever.

    Thanks Hewlett Packard.

Actually, I was aware of this type of support for HP since the 1970s, when I buy and install servers HP A2100, then servers HP 1000 HP 9000 server, and I have met and had presentations from the team of engineering and management in California from HP this for me and my boss the next type of systems that HP grew for the future and then the HP - DEC ALpha - all this for machinea the best range of computers with the best support for ground control systems (GE Americom in time) operating a critical General Electric fly over most of the commercial SATCOM satellites in the United States.  Even if I quit this job just now, HIS AMericom always uses HP to fly to the top of 20 + satellites over the United States and around the world.

Shows just why HP is the longer computer company and will continue to be!

My support case number was 3013351909 so that whoever the Lady of HP support could get credit for its excellence and how she persisted on its initiative of checkin continuously with me and guide me and helped to stop me from buying a disk hard when I didn't need to.

Thanks HP and what concerns the life long realtionship with me!

  • HP Pavilion 15-p151sa: failed to update Realtek RTL8723BE - wifi Cup

    Hello

    I'm under 10 Home Windows on my HP Pavilion 15 - p151sa.

    I have a Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11 b/g/n wifi adapter on my system.

This card seems to do an auto-update feature that blocks my wireless and cuts me any wifi connectivity.

I refer to the update below:

I have tried everything - uninstalling the driver and reinstalling, restoration, etc.

Because Windows 10 does not an opt-out on the updates, I am forced to do a system restore whenever signle and it turns into a nightmare that I'm not able to find a solution and can't do much without an ethernet cable, if the update occurs automatically and my network off when I'm not home.

System Restore is the only thing that works.

Could someone please help? How to solve this problem?

I need a fix for this young that this problem badly affect my work.

    Thank you

    Hari

    Hi, Hari:

Get the laptop where the wireless card works correctly and then there is a way to hide the updates of windows install on W10, but you need to run a separate tool.

Here is the link for the download and instructions to run the tool.

It is easy to use.  Just run it and check the update of wireless card you don't want installed and that's all.

    https://support.Microsoft.com/en-us/KB/3073930

In addition, it does not temporarily hide updates.  The skin is permanent, unless you run the tool again and select Show updates and uncheck the one (s) you want to install.

I saved the tool in a folder on my PC for future use.

  • Pavilion p7-1414: graphics card

I recently bought a Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 ti and already plugged into my motherboard. My problem is that it is not find compatible hardware for the card (not sure I'm the right wording)

    Hi there @Ky2Quick,

That the Forums are with you!  I understand that you are having problems with a card of Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 ti you have installed.  I'm happy to give you a helping hand with this.

Looking at the GeForce GTX 560 Ti spécifications and comparing to the HP Pavilion Desktop PC p7-1414 product specifications

    Your system has:

    300W internal (100V-240V)

    1 PCI Express x 16 (Gen 2.0)

Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 ti card needs:

Minimum system requirements power: 500 W

    Additional power connectors: two 6-pin

    Support of the bus PCI-E 2.0 x 16

So the most obvious problem is going to be the power supply. You do not want to have at least a 500 W power installed on your computer, and more would be better.

Please let me know if help and if it does not solve your problem, please mark this message as a solution. Bravo would be appreciated as well.

  • Recovering the system for HP Pavilion Slimline s3307c fails

I recently bought the restore of the HP Pavilion Slimline s3307c disc because the hard drive recovery partition no longer works. I use the restore disc, the system recovery, said after the series of instruction to click Finish. When I cliquerai on complete, the system restarts, and it came to a point where I couldn't see any activity that happens in the computer except the icons two folder with the paper to the other folder.  I'm frustrated waiting for two hours with no idea of what happens, not even a bar of progress... Please help... what to do? I called HP support, the person on the phone is not helping at all and told me to help!

    Hello:

Sometimes, this can take several hours to complete the recovery process.

In addition, when you perform a system recovery, the only things that must be connected to the PC is the keyboard monitor and mouse.  Nothing else must be connected (printers, speakers, etc.).

If the recovery discs fail to get the job done there is a procedure that you can use to install Vista on your PC if you can read all 25 characters of the product key windows on your PC case.

Here is the info on how to do this if you want.

If you are in a fault light but rewarding you can do yourself if you can read your product key of Vista on the PC of 25 characters.

You just download the 3 files you need on the link below and read all the instructions to create a Setup bootable DVD disk using imageburn.

Do not take into account the part of the text in the first screen shot about "extract the files in the folder of Vista."

The files were extracted already in this folder when you ran the X14.exe file by reading the text on top of the first screenshot.

The other thing I noticed is on the 4th page, where it shows Developer ID Microsoft Corporation. I had to type Microsoft Corporation in me, and then other codes already filled in.

When I went to compile the ISO file, ImageBurn gave a message on a WIM file, file and ISO, and if I wanted to burn it in a different format.

I selected no, make the ISO file.

It was not so hard to do. I burned both the disk of 64-bit and 32-bit disk in case I ever need them.

I tested both of them on my hp dc7100 CMT PC desktop computer, they worked perfectly.

When you enter the product key, he knows which version of Vista you have.

    http://en.community.Dell.com/support-forums/software-OS/w/microsoft_os/3317.2-3-Microsoft-Windows-v...

After you install Vista successfully, you can then install the drivers for your PC and driver page support.
