HP Pavilion will not power on, no lights

Welcome to the saga of my poor lappy! This is a long post, but I don't know how much of my earlier sentence is relevant to my current issue, and I'd rather give too much information than not enough.

I have a pavilion with Vista dv6768se. I tried to use it one morning, and the first row of letters typed this: 1q2w3e4rty7u8i9o0p. In addition, Backspace would not work. After a few minutes of use, the keyboard became more erratic, typing absolute gibberish and then finally wouldn't work at all. Crush a bunch of keys, he must type a few random characters and then get stuck repeating the last of them, until what I pressed something on the screen keyboard. I tried to replace the keyboard, use a USB keyboard and updated the BIOS, as suggested by the members helpful, kind and beautiful of this forum.

None of it worked, and I'm frustrated and put my laptop in the corner for a few months. Hanging out the back, as if by magic keyboard worked fine. However, the laptop would not work on battery. (The charger had felt loose in the port, and if it were to be touched even slightly, the laptop turns off). I thought that my battery was probably went wrong while he was sitting, so I replaced it. No dice. I also replaced my charger just to be sure, but nothing helped.

So I'm frustrated with it again and put in the corner. Fast forward a few months. The laptop lights nothing, either in AC or battery. There are no lights and no fan when I press the power button. When I plug in the charger, which feels still loose in the port, the port no longer lights to indicate that he is in charge.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, I would be very grateful. Thank you!

I know it's hard to take but this product line has had its Council failures because of its design and chipset. There is basically nothing you can do to resurrect now once this problem has appeard. The most likely failure of this model line was the video chipset that would fail on these cards. If the problem has been taken earlier and the heat sink has been redone which can prevent the video to not cause any boot in your case. But that's what I see and read that these units had a lot of chess video chipset and only two of which I fixed the heatsink on one which is still in progress and another cleaned much of the dust that I could and still works. So I think that once this model line hits startup black screen which usually means that it is a gooner.

Some of the fundamental things include the pram/clock battery replacement

since they may be dead; then with a power failure, sometimes the Mac

do not restart. Usual power management unit & reset NVRAM/PRAM are

methods that sometimes also used as a troubleshooting measure.

A hard reset can sometimes be used, where the power is disconnected

the logic board and power removed from grill; Then push the Start button / stop.

(But maybe not. Several PowerMac computers, I had, some people found this helpful)

You may also remove and reposition cards and other items

the inside of the case, to be sure they are connected properly. Be sure to not

In short anything, due to the static load or residual power in the circuits.

The hour is late here, so I'm not going offline; If all goes well a battery original or novel, etc.

can help to put it on again. Also sometimes the power supply has some faulty fans,

circuits or capacitors, so they can be troublesome to repair or replace.

    Good luck in this case!

  • Equium A60-157 will not power

    Hi people!

Could someone offer a bit of expertise and tell me whether or not the series Equium A60 - 157 has a center pin in its socket? I need to know that my laptop doesn't have one and it will not power! I'm deeply frustrated because I paid at the time £999 and it doesn't work!

I have a feeling that the PIN has cracked and is now part of my dc adapter but I need to be sure before I get it fixed!

Also if this is the case anyone Kow how much it may cost to do fix an indicative maybe!

    Cheers for your help!

    Nick

    Hi Nick,

Yes, I think the A60 use an outlet that has a central pin. The CAP at the end of the head of the AC must have a central hole. You can find that the spindle broke and is now stuck in the plug on the power cord. This is not a rare event on the series of satellites, laptops.

The bad is more Servicers will simply replace the motherboard (where the socket is together) rather than perform a repair to the component level. It is obviously a costly option for you, but is probably more faster/easier for the repairman.

I have, in the past, tried unsuccessfully to find a source for the plug for my A30 (just in case) but I only managed to find a supplier who could provide a component of second hand provided by a junk motherboard. :-(

    Kind regards

  • Workstation Dell Precision T7400 will not power with ATI Radeon 5970 installed

    Hello

I had my dream, the monster bi - GPU ATI Radeon 5970 video card and installed in my T7400 but the system will not start, all I get is a fast fan rotation and a kind of sounds from food, a bit like "Brrrnt, click on" led me to believe that the power supply could not handle my video card.

The video card requires an 8pin and 6-pin power plug. When I plug the 8-pin and 6-pin and turn on the computer, is a no-go as shown above. When only the power plug 6-pin I plugged the PC sounds like it will start, the power of fans but no display as I expect.

I tried this video card into the two PCI-Express slots with the same failure as a result. The computer works fine with the Nvidia Quadro 3700 in it... using a 6 power connector pins.

I got the ATI Radeon HD 5970 video card in a store of the local computer and it had tested ($15) because I didn't test it in a spare computer and video card passed with flying colors...

That's why I thought my 1000 Watt power supply was a problem, so as a bet, I ordered a replacement off eBay and received a sweater to work more the wiring harness and completely replaced the two who has a job to say the least! Have you tried to replace the wire bundle? a lot of work...

I got it all back together, crossed my fingers and prayed and tried again and the same thing... NO LUCK... I put the graphic card Nvidia Quadro 3700 back in and the system of power like a charm.

What on earth could it be the cause for it? I REALLY want to get this video card works in this system.

I even tried a bios update and carefully watched the card mother and everything that I could to see if there's... nothing exploded capacitors...

Please HELP - I want to get my game...

    Wesley

I think I found the solution and I would like to mention it here to help others if they get him...

A: the power of Dell for the T7400 was designed to produce five rails 12 volts @ 18 AMPS each and the video card requires approximately 45 to 50 amps to work properly. Video cables (one with a 8 pin) and 6-pin on the harness even seems to only provide amps 18 or more and the computer will not power because power protection circuit sees too many amps being requested by a 'rail' and turns off immediately...

I went to electronics of FRY in San Jose and bought a few cards that helped divide the current between different sources, such as the cables of the hard drive and video.

B: I have a small battery backup power unit and my T7400 was plugged into the saved game... When I got the video card to work, he could make a beep loud and after minutes cutting my T7400 due to the mainstream power support... I plugged the computer into a 'surge protector' but not battery backed up to the slot and since then had no problems...

Now after several tests including FurMark, my graphics card stress works very well in this system... This is due to an unfortunate design in the T7400 power supply and wiring... Now that I have this solved, I hope that someone else can benefit...

Get an adapter like this one, it allows to separate the power sources for the 8 power connector pin and use the PIN 6 original which is connected to the Dell printer condition 8 pin adapter, for the 6-pin slot... hope that makes sense... by trial and error, you got it right!

  • NB100 will not power

    Hi all

My NB100 will not feed when you press the Start button the battery lights and power turn on and remain on as does the fan. However the drive hard light only comes on for a few seconds and then turns off. the machine then just sits in this State and not even get to the stage of the Toshiba splash screen. In this case I don't even know if it is possible to enter the game etc.

Have you done all that can be responsible for this?

  • Tecra M9 - will not power on and flashing LED

Can someone tell me where I can find a list of what means the various sequences of flashing of LED on a Tecra M9?

I have one that will not be running at all and the power light flashes a particular model of amber.

    Toshiba Tecra M9
    PTM91E-04R03TEN

    Hello

I think that such a list of error codes for the LEDs are not available. I've never seen such lists on the Toshiba site, I guess they are no longer available to the authorized service provider.

But you can try this: remove the battery and the AC adapter at least an hour. Then connect the two devices again and try to start the laptop.

If it doesn t work an ASP needs to ask for help. They can give you professional help and fix it.

  • Satellite A40 will not power

My A40 Sat will not contribute to that. In the light is orange flashing constantly. I previously had a problem with the AC adapter failed and replaced it with a temporary universal adapter which worked very well so far.
It of because I'm a foreigner and can not get the original Toshiba.

    Hello

I guess you used is not not original and not supported AC adaptor / CC. I guess that the problem came from the AC adapter / CC.
If the power supply microprocessor detects a malfunction, the DC IN icon flashes orange. The boss of blinking indicates an error. The blink code must convert the hexadecimal error code.
This error can be read by the Service of Toshiba partner. It can give you a specific answer what s wrong.

If you're comfortable working around computers, you can try the following:

Note: The only 100% POWER supply test method, is to install a known working power.

Unplug the power cord, hold the power button in for about 15-20 seconds, open the case, disconnect the power connector 24-pin motherboard and jumping the Green wire to one of the black wires, plug in the power cord and the power of the system, if food and case fans and disk hard drive performance then the power supply should be good.

Note: Do not remove the wires from the plug, use a small piece of wire or a paper clip as a rider.

Extract supply and the system still does not work, yet once remove the power cord, hold button power in a few seconds to discharge residual power, reconnect the connector 24 pin to the motherboard.

Remove any PCI video card [as appropriate], memory cards, all the devices, unplug data cables and power to all readers, check that the cable from the front panel is connected to the motherboard, without anything else connected to the system, reconnect the power cable and power the system on.

If you get any beep codes or there is difference in the indication of the LED on the power button, it would seem that the motherboard is dead, or maybe the processor.

Note the processor will rarely fail.

Battery indication LED, located next to the icon of power turns on at all?

The battery LED will be flashing?

    You have error messages?

If you remove the laptop battery, reconnect the cable to the notebook AC power, then turn on, it powers the laptop?

Please make sure that the AC adapter cable is not plugged into a power strip, surge arrester, or secondary power source. It should be directly into a wall outlet.

    Thank you!

    Hello Stonewall40,

Regarding the PV124T power when a replacement is required under the warranty, we will replace the unit.  Now, I guess you're out of warranty on the group, in this case, I would say that you check online because there are some dealers who sell just the charger power supply 9V for the PV124T.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.
