  Thank you all for your suggestions, thought I can't really understand why everyone talk about the 64-bit thing when I clearly stated from the beginning that I know that the question and my mac runs in 32-bit.

  Anyway, I actually discovered the question and it really sound ridiculous, get ready!

  I used a spare cable micro usb comes with a car charger, I bought separately for my bb: well it seems that the cable alone give power... they probably just deleted the data lines, guess to save a few cents of copper...

  Well that was it, just hope it can be useful to someone.

  Is there a problem with the current printer/scanner HP driver for the Mavericks?

  I did the software update and when I go to 'Printers and Scanners', Mac recognizes the printer but when I click on the "open scanner", the scan window opens but I get an error message saying it can't find the device. I can't even preview or Capture of Image to recognize the scanner.

  Ultimately after some trial and error, it seems the HP Photosmart printer is somehow 'paired' / 'connected' with my MacBook Pro. So he can register on my iMAC, you must remove first of the queue on the MBP and then it appears on the iMAC and may be included in the queue on the iMAC... even if it's just through a USB cable.

  My dell precision 370 running xp sp2 worked perfectly to capture video from my sony vx2100 via ieee 1394 firewire, then one day it just would not work.   Had to move our HP computer when our secretariat moved Friday. Came this morning (Monday) for connecting the printer Officejet 6600 upwards and nothing worked. Removed all software and did a reinstall of CD and when I get to the connect the USB cable between the printer and the computer, the computer will not recognize the printer at all.   Very long story, there are similar positions here but other situations are not the same as mine or the answers do not explain things very well.  I am trying to replace the hard drive in my MBP mid-2010 with a modern SSD, the manufacturer said it is not formatted (say you need to get in shape first of all, in response, saying that their operating system does not recognize in some way, shape, as is my case).  When I put it in the internal drive Bay I get the big "?", sometimes alternates between it and the icon of the Apple and the circle with a slash through it (which means indicates that it has not recognized connected equipment).  I bought the cable I need to connect it via the USB port, I have the original hard disk to another external drive that I intend to use to keep my saved MBP, I want to clone the original to the new SSD hard drive, then try to boot from it.  I'm sure I have format the SSD drive, but how can I do if it is not recognized?  When I connect it outside of a Windows machine (7) it is recognised in Device Manager (but not in my computer).

  We have Photosmart 7280 home for use with a PC (mine) and a Mac (my partner).

  My partner was never able to operate wireless with his mac and did not have time to sit on the phone or online to make it work.  However, I installed it yesterday and got, it works on my PC (Dell Latitude C7280) with Vista Business wireless.  Everything was fine, until my partner needed to analyze something yesterday.  He plugged the USB as usual and scanned away successfully.  However, when I got then use again, the solution Center shows the printer as being disconnected.    I removed the usb cable, the printer stopped on and once again but nothing works.

  I rang the helpline yesterday and was in a queue for 1 hour 4 minutes before I finally gave up.

  How can I get the printer reconnected and how do I stop this happening again?

  PS - Note to HP - keep customers in a queue of 1 h 04 min with a message saying "we will soon connect you" is atrocious customer service.

  Is the printer lost connectivity with your wireless-network address of the printer's IP has changed since you installed the SW on your Dell.

  You use a wireless router - and what is it?

  Can you access the printer's internal web page by accessing its IP address? You can find the IP address of the printer by printing the Network Configuration Page.

  If you can access the web page of the printer, then unfortunately I think it's time to reinstall the SW. Once get you it working again, I would recommend setting the printer's IP address. On the C7280, you can do it from the front panel of the printer in the network menu.

  BTW - what type of problem do you have to get the SW installed on the Mac?
