I may as well junk the thing even if it still works, because I can not aford to keep feeding ink when its just sitting there doing nothing most of the time.

  The c310a will use the photo black for printing in black if photographic Support is selected in the paper type, or if the setting is automatic and media are detected as photographic support.

  This printer has to separate supplies for printing and ink heads and little ink is required in all the colors to avoid the print head clogged.  The page here discusses how ink is used.

  If the device does not black ink print, it may be a couple different things, the cause.  Have you tried to run the print head alignment feature in the configuration menu of the printer?

  I did a few test last year, you can print black only master always need color ink for the printer. Black setting only as a default printer will only print black and it consumes a little over heating of the process color inks.   Grayscale is more useful for printers that have four or more cartridges. You can find on the feature by clicking on this link, but I'm not positive how useful it will be for you.

  Insert a black cartridge in the color slot will not have to act as a backup cartridge. The printer will see that it is not a color cartridge and refuses to read or use it.

I recently bought a printer Photosmart 7510 of second hand without a usb connection or installation of the cd. I managed to hook the printer up to my wireless network and test prints however, when I try to print something in the computer itself, the printer will not be displayed to draw. I pulled up the devices on my home screen, and it allows me to choose this printer as my favorite. I try to run the troubleshooting option and he answers, "the WSD print device driver is not installed. Install the latest driver for the device.   Usually, it is a result of dried/clogged ink nozzles in the printer or the print head.

  According to some other users on the forums, you can remove the print head (use this guide if you are unsure how: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01944580)

  Make sure the cartridges are removed from the print head

  Dive head in hot water, nozzles downwards. (about 1 in. of water) and leave any residue of ink to flow. This process should take about 15 minutes. Ensure that the print head is completely dried out and there is no moisture in the electrical contacts or the rest of the part.

  The ink level for black on the printer is full, my other levels of color ink is low, but that should not affect something because I never print in black and white for the documents from the school.

  I tried to print black-and-white documents and the printer is fading the black in and out and sometimes not black at all, despite the fact that I have installed a new black ink cartridge.

  I tried:

  (1) align the printer cartridges through the tool on printer settings (this alignment failed 2 times, always without success)

  (2) cleaning of the print head through tool on printer settings (tried this 3 times and still no improvement)

  Any other suggestions?

  I want to help you to be able to print again. I understand your color cartridges work, but it's not black ink.  Please start with the procedure described in the following document; Printer prints a blank Page or does not print black or color ink for HP Photosmart Premium C309a the C309c all-in-One

  If you have performed all the steps in the document above and the problem persists, not one of HPs, my personal recommendation is to use the solution put forward in the next video.  I suggest that if the printhead and the printer he are out of warranty.  Hot water rinse printhead - HP ink printers of the series with removable head.

  I have recommended this solution to others and have been successful, but I can't guarantee that this will solve the problem, it is a term of type line of effort. I hope it helps.

  I see you have done some troubleshooting on the issue of the print quality that you are experiencing.  I would make sure you did all the troubleshooting steps available for your research problem in the document following the link.

  Print colors are the colors should not when the C309 Photosmart Premium printing.

  If you have completed all these steps, then I check the status of your printer warranty.  If it is out of warranty, you should consider the solution provided by Bob_Headrick in the thread found here.
