• Language setting for photosmart 8050

  My Photosmart 8050 just died, so I just bought one at a thrift store, works great ($6), his impression in English but the language on the display screen is French. I found some posts for language issues, but not found to the 8050. Any help would make my day. Thanks, Dave

  There is more support for the HP Photosmart 8050 printer available document any longer because it was added to the list of retirement of HP product.

• 10.6 compatibility with Photosmart 8050

  I will try to provide all the details I can think... using a macbookpro running 10.6.7 and just hung my photosmart 8050 (bought in the USA - I only write this because some people have asked to others where the product was purchased in an attempt to solve the problems.) I could not, when you choose to print, to locate this printer. I went into preferences and could not find where the other. Could not access manually, no other driver came. Have been downloading so-called drivers and patches from HP and Apple, and they aren't always appear. I changed the USB cords as well, in which case it was funky. Tried connecting to the top of the 8050 to my old MacBook white running 10.5.8 which had no printer associated with all. The same situation has occurred. Later, I tried to add my (brother) laser printer to two computers and worked well, via the USB port, the two pilots appeared in the preferences panel. So, I'm not sure if it's a software problem, or a problem with the USB from the printer part. The printer works fine when I attach a USB to print photos since. Any ideas? I'm quite unraveled at this stage. Thank you!

  Looks like that the USB port on the printer has failed. Some things to try to verify 100% that this is the case:

  Make sure that the product is under tension while performing the following steps.

  1. If necessary, connect the printer on a windows machine, see if you get a Plug n Play answer (adding new hardware popup)

  Check Device Manager to make sure it is detected/no detected (methods to open Device Manager are below)

  Method 1: hold the WIndows key and press Pause/break. Click on the Hardware tab (XP or more) click on Device Manager.

  Method 2: right-click on my computer, click Properties. Click on the Hardware tab (XP or more) click on Device Manager.

  2. when it is plugged into a mac (either one or both) with a USB cable for verified, check the entries USB and printer in Apple System Profiler (methods to open this utility are below)

  Method 1: click on the Apple--> about this mac. Click on more information.

  Method 2: open--> Utilities Applications. Double-click system information.

  Results:

  1. If you receive no response from the windows machine and no entry in Device Manager. Then, the USB port on the product is defective.

  2. If the product is not listed in the ASP, the USB port on the product is defective.

• My Photosmart 8050 and LynkSys router

  I currently have a HP of old desktop as a server of sorts by connecting to my wireless router, ethernet cable and my Photosmart 8050 USB connected to the office. I can currently access the printer from my laptop wireless through this connection as long as the office is under tension.  However, the desktop runs XP Home so I unplugged the router (I-net) for security issues.  Of course this prevents my access to my printer.  My question: is it possible or even my printer directly on my router, bypassing the old office of cable and I still my laptop wireless to be able to see?  Dell Inspiron portable computer under Win7/64.  Software, I don't think that is a problem, I'm just a question if I can cable the 8050 directly to the router.  I'm going to need a USB type B male to ethernet cable, either purpose built the cable or the use of adapters.  Thank you.

  The HP software is for Mac OS X 10.6 and not compatible with Mountian Lion, therefore the question appears.

  Uninstall the software using Uninstall HP under Applications > Hewlett-Packard, then click on Print & Scan and delete the print queue of the printer.

  Then go to Printers\Library and place the HP folder to the trash.

  Under Printers\Library enter PPDs\Contents\Resources. You can search C309 folder and put the results in the trash.

  Restart your Mac and install the drivers via Apple by following the steps below:

• Photosmart 8050 with no disk installation for Windows 7. Driver update fails! Help!

  I tried the update of Windows (recommended) to load the driver and it fails.  I just need a copy drivers or a copy of the hard drive, not the usual recommended, "simply load the Windows Update and it will fix it."  I wonder if the loading of Windows XP drivers for this printer (that do not EXIST to copy and download) would have at least wake him or somehow fix the problem.  My computer worked on this all morning without success.  Any ideas on how to get this driver not to mention THAT the Windows 7 software update?  Thank you for your time and your consideration.

  You can try to enter the password in the section "WPA - PSK", instead of "WEP encryption" section, to see if it will work. It won't hurt to not test.

  If try your password does not work, you can try an application called Keychain, which can be used to retrieve wireless password, just to make sure that you use the same one.

  I use a Photosmart 7520e with a class model iMac and OS to date. The printer worked fine for several years.   I think that we are on the right track, let's go ahead and update the software and drivers to ensure that they are compatible with your Mavericks operating system. Please follow the steps listed below:

  Scrub / uninstall

  • Open the Applications folder >HP or Hewlett-Packard folder > Uninstall HP
  • Click continue, click on one of the printers in the list.
  • * Only perform this step if you have not all other HP printers.  Hold down the command, Option , and command, while now the three buttons down, click Uninstall.

  Reset the printing system

  1. click on the Apple icon and then click on System Preferences.

  2. in the hardware section, click on Printers and Fax/Scan. The Print & Fax/Scan dialog box opens.

  3. make a right click (or Ctrl + click) in the left panel, and then click reset printing system...

  4. click on OK to confirm the reset.

  5 type the name and the correct password.

  6. click OK to reset the printing system. The printers and Faxes dialog box shows any selected printer.

  • Connection seems valid - computer can initiate test page printed and other HP printer reports and analyses may be initiated by the computer.  Software "Utility from HP" connects to the printer and generates the report of ink supplies.
  • However, as printing software (utility that opens when you try to print via the computer and is called "HP Photosmart 7525 SEries") just piles up print jobs and reports this printer is not found.  (So that the pieces of software is "looking for printer" you can click on the SCAN button and scan immediately on the prtiner!)  The suspension and the recovery is without help.  I checked the connections and restarted the computer and the printer again.
  • I removed all the HP software and re-downloaded HP printer for this printer utility software.  (Print job has been maintained during this process - don't know how.)

  Looks like a problem with the HP/Apple software printing.

  Any ideas out there?

  I can certainly help you with this. I understand that you can not print even with a USB connection, but the computer can indeed see the printer as a connected device. Please follow the steps below and let me know the result.

  Scrub / uninstall

  The HP Setup disk to install a Toolbox utility to manage the printer.

  In the control panel select print a Test Page. The 3rd section down is the estimated ink levels.

  Do NOT use cartridges 3rd party reused, keep genuine HP cartridges.
