Thanks for getting back to me on this subject. I am pleased to hear that the issue of alignment has been resolved. However, because you get the message when copying or scanning that has occurred a "failure" and you screen gets stuck on 'Cancel' for the copy, you experience a hardware failure with your copy/scan inside your printer mechanism.
Because the programming of your printer control the scanning/copying mechanism, I checked in an update of Firmware for your product to see if there was an update available in the corrupt case programming was causing your issue. Unfortunately, due to the age of your product, it is not these updates.
You also mentioned that you did a semi Full reset programming on your printer, nothing helps.
At this point, I will provide you the failure of scan standard troubleshooting steps to see if there is a chance to solve this problem.
Step 1: Power Reset:
- With the printer, unplug the cable from power for 30 seconds
- After that 30 seconds reconnect the power cable from back in
- The printer should return its own
- Once the printer returns to the ready state, again test the copy feature.
Step 2: Verification of power:
Power strips and surge protectors can cause HP printers do not work properly because they can run out of power. To ensure that a power problem is not causing your Scanner failure, please plug the unit directly into the wall outlet.
Once your printer is directly to a wall jack please test again the copy function. If the problem persists, please continue to the next step.
Step 3: Check the Scanner Bar and light:
- Feed your printer
- Lift the lid flat on your printer and click the copy button
- Check if the scanner bar is moving or if the scanner lamp turns on.
If there is no response from the mechanism of scanning, the last step would be the printer to service.
At this point, if the problem persists I suggest you contact the Technical Support queue by phone to explore additional options.

I suggest that you try the methods below to solve the problem.
Method 1:
I suggest that you run the printer troubleshooter. This automatically diagnose and fix printing problems, installation of a printer, connecting to a network printer and other related errors:

Method 2:
As it was working fine before installing the update, I suggest that you do a system restore on your computer.
To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:a. Click Start, type system restore in the search box and then in the list click on the system restore program.
b. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
(c) in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.
d. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.
e. click Finish.

HP Photosmart C5280 All in One
I have a Photosmart C5280 All in one for about 2 years & never had a problem until yesterday when I tried to make a copy of an exchange of letters which came to preview & print with the left side of the A4 motorway all black and very low right hand. It was the same in the Scan but normal printing from the computer is perfect as it is printing on the discs. Anyone an idea what could be the problem. Any help would be appreciated. Dave Scorpioking

I have a new HP laptop and want to use my HP Photosmart C5280 printer all in one with her. I need to know what I should do to be able to use my C5280 with my HP laptop. I need to be able to use it with this phone, but there is not anything showing you what who or where you need to download the files, you need to be able to use the new laptop HP Photosmart C5280. My new HP laptop is a Pavilion with Windows 10 64 bit which was already about this when I bought my new laptop. Any help is greatly appreciated...

I understand that you are looking for a way to override the expiration date for all-in-one printer, HP Photosmart C5280 ink cartridge. I want to offer you information about expiration dates.
Expiration dates can be reset on cartridges. But expired cartridges should work correctly in your HP Photosmart too long that the cartridges have been installed on your printer before expiry. If you bought new cartridges that have already expired they likely won't work in your printer and there is no replacement for that cartridges are expired. If this is the case, you may want to consider bringing back them to the store or speaking with our Technical Support phone queue to explore additional options.
If you had a cartridge installed in your HP Photosmart camera and would use very well and at random, to get the message that the cartridge has not expired, you should be able to hit OK on this message and continue using the printer as per normal.

Can someone help me with a Board? Question:
Several times in the last 3 days, I tried to install the printer and scanner HP Photosmart C5280. I did everything that was recommended on the following page (and a few others):www8.hp.com/sk/sk/support-topics/windows8-support/printer-install-issues.html
What is happening is that the downloaded file PS_AIO_02_NonNet_Full_Win_WW_140_408.exe will extract and then nothing more. Installation does not start.
I aso did the following:
- I tried to use HP HP printer install wizard for Windows and HP scanner doctor Utility - Diagnostic tools , but without success.
- PC rebooted after each change
- Blocked programs from startup such as recommended in the above mentioned link
I will be obliged for all the advice that will be led to successful installation until I get angry.

Follow the steps below and check if it solves the problem:1 open the Mcafee Virus and Spyware Protection software you are interested in, click on calendar and perform analyses. Click analysis in real time, and then click stop. Never select and confirm by clicking the button turn off.
2. open the dialog box run by clicking on the Windows key and the R key on your keyboard. Type %windir%, and then click OK.
3. type hpoins*.dat in the search bar at top, if there is that no result rename the extention in old instead of dat. (e.g. hpoins1.old)
4. type hpwins*.dat in the search bar at top, if there is that no result rename the extention in old instead of dat. (e.g. hpwins1.old)
5. start the Run dialog box by clicking the Windows key and the R key on your keyboard. Type MSIEXEC /Unregister. in the Run dialog box and click OK.
6. launch the Run dialog box by clicking the Windows key and the R key on your keyboard. Type MSIEXEC/REGSERVER in the Run dialog box and click OK.
7 restart your PC
8. run the installation file and check all difference.
9. Once you have finished, remember to open McAfee and re-enable real-time scanning.Kind regards

I recently put in new cartridges and now it says refer to printer documentation. I tried to stop, took out the cartridges and put back them in, always the same quote, I'm next to me because I can't print anything until I fix this. Can anyone help.
I had the same problem. HP has replaced the printer (possibly - they sent one wrong initially), but when a new happened today - he has got the same message. It is assumed that this is perhaps a faulty cartridge, but they were joyfully running for a few months before the initial message to come. HP gets another phone call tomorrow...
Unfortunately, when they replace the printer that they only replace the printer itself - no ink, no trays, without textbooks, no power or usb. If the ink cartridge has been delivered, I could have tested to see if the cartridges are faulty.
I'll keep you posted.

Printer was working fine a few months ago. nothing has changed since then, except now when I tried to copy 2 or several pages on a single page/sheet of paper, I receive one copy on the half of the page. The other half is empty. I tried 4 pages on a single page, always I only have one page on 1/4 of the page.

Very well. You will need make the document a two page document. Just copy what you have on the first page and paste it on the second page. This should make everything feel right. You must have the number of pages to print on one page in the document before it will print.

Problem installing HP Photo Print Cartridge in my HP Photosmart C5280 All-in-one 99
Simply, I can't understand how to install this cartridge. I think I am following the rules of installation, but it do not go and stay. Now I see that there is an extra room in the box of the cartridge. Just to say AF Ref. 5064-4593 and t here are no instructions except a barely visible figure on the side. It looks like a wagon load of addition for the actual print cartridge. Am I supposed to put in some way as well into the printer? I could not find the visuals showing how to do this.
I thought that I should use the 99 cartridge, but maybe wrong that my interpretation of another answer is correct. That said to use it with a different print cartridge that my current 74XL. Even if I do not receive the second correct cartridge, I still need to know how to get the 99 in the printer, if I am to use it. According to online HP and the HP print cartridge box, this 99 cartridge is compatible with the printer.

A few things:
The extra room is a "cellar" it is used to store the photo cartridge (or the balck cartrdige when the photo cartridge is in the printer). This keeps the open cartridge do not dry out.
The #99 cartridge replaced the black cartridge, it is used with the color cartridge. Make sure you try to put the #99 cartridge into the slot using the cartridge #74 black, not the location of the color.

Almost everyday to reinstall C5280 All-in-One Printer
Almost everyday to reinstall the all-in-one printer HP C5280 Photosamrt. It adds an icon to the list of the Printers icon in Control Panel. Until I have 4 or more, I uninstall and try again.
When I try to print an article, received no response and no error message. This experience has occurred for a month or two.
Please write back to me with the information. You said that you have uninstalled the software and drivers several times but I just wanted to try one more time, but instead to use the cd to reinstall, I suggest that we use the drivers and software updates. Please remove the usb cable from the printer and the computer (please let disconnect you until further notice). On your computer, click Start, then select all programs, then go to the yellow folder that says HP, once in the folder, click on your printer. You should see a file that says that you can click on uninstall. Once the uninstall is complete you be prompted to restart your computer, please do so. When the computer is back up and running, please go to your folder, devices and printers, and make sure that everything has been removed and that has to do with HP. If you still see printers from the Printers folder, you may go to add/remove programs and delete files just deal with your HP printer. Restart the computer again. Once the computer is back, please click on the link I provided with the HP Photosmart C5280 All-in-one print drivers and download the file to your desktop of your computer so that you can find. Once the download is complete, double-click on the icon and follow the instructions. Please, do not connect the USB cable until you are prompted to do so.
