HP Probook 440 G3: HP Probook 440 G3 sleep instead of shutdown

When a user chooses stop from the menu of Windows 10, HP Probook 440 G3 is happening in mode 'sleep' rather than stop.  This has been verified in several ways, including a review of logs of system events and of the command

SystemInfo | find the 'Boot '.

It is a problem because business critical applications (Mitel Micollab to name one) require a stop every day or they have erratic behavior.

Laptops are already configured to sleep when the lid is closed and the system is on battery power.  If users do not have another way to make the system sleep.

Problem occurs on multiple versions of Windows 10 x 64, lately Version 1511 (OS Build 10586.420)

All windows updates and patches available, including those from HP Support Assistant have been applied.

stop if the command line is not an option - users are very busy lawyers and paralegals not computer experts.

The power button was programmed to stop the machine, but users were trained based on previous machines always use the closing of Windows and not the power button.

Users use some legacy machines that need to be taken out of windows service and not the power button.  Tell your users to use the power button would be a matter of training.

Our users are specialists of the legal issues criminal and Civil and should not be forced to learn the intricacies of Windows to do their job.

HP - please provide a fix so that they have been trained since the closing of windows, users can shut down windows.

A difficulty that has worked for us:

Update to the latest version of the bios 01.14 SP77161 or later

HP Recovery Manager updated SoftPaq NUMBER: SP74707

ESU for Microsoft Windows 10 sp76202 HP

Note desired power settings, restore default and go back and get back to desired

    Unfortunately, business machines such as Probooks or EliteBook have more strict security consumption patterns - they do not produce "stop codes", the password cannot be derived from the serial number and the code is stored in a nonvolatile memory to remove the RTC cell does not reset the password in this case.

    If you Contact HP Business support they should be able to send you a file custom SMC.bin that you can use to reset the password at startup.

  • ProBook 440 G1 continually lose Qualcomm Atheros WLAN connection

    I just bought the HP ProBook 440 G1 free BACK. I have intalled Windows Pro 8.1 and installed divers downloaded directly from the center of Support of HP in this link. For the wireless drivers, I realized that the I have the QCA9565 of Qualcomm Atheros 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter and also Qualcomm-Atheros Bluetooth 4.0 QCA9565 adapter, so I downloaded the latest drivers from here (1.00) and here (11.0.752.0) respectively.

    In a few minutes using the laptop, I noticed a steady decline in my internet connection. I checked my router and everything will, work well with other gadgets. So I searched the Internet and found the same problem for other models. However, here and here official HP solutions, apply is not for my Qualcomm-Atheros. I even tried to install the drivers updated in these solutions, but nothing is happening because they are specifically desgned for the Mediatek combo (Ralink).

    Finally, you also you know that I've updated the BIOS with the latest version (01.20 REV. (A). can someone help me solve this problem please?

    If the research on mine, I found many new versions of the driver that is compatible with my QCA9565 WiFi and Bluetooth component as listed by the official support from HP.

    I started with this:

    But my problem has not been resolved, so I tried unninstalling those and the installation of these:

    With the latest driver I have no problem at all, everything works fine. I suggest you download and install the bundle complete 276 (for divers bluetooth too) and then just update to 297 driver through Device Manager.

    I hope this solution helps someone else; because HP does not have any solution at all.

  • HP probook 440 G1 query on the recovery partition

    I not create recovery DVDs when I received my laptop then I upgraded to windows 8.1. I want to downgrade to 8 but when I perform a system recovery it says: no image found. I am aware that I need the recovery DVD to perform the recovery.

    My questions are:

    1: if I use a 8 CD to format my windows partition win then I will be able to use the recovery partition in my HARD drive and perform a restore to the factory settings so recover windows 8

    2: if I create recovery DVD now with victory 8.1 installed recovery DVDs contain wins 8? I want to say can I perform recovery with these DVD's going to work?

    If your HP ProBook 440 G1 comes with Windows 8 and you upgraded to Windows 8.1, you can try a Windows of "cool". This should return Windows 8, as it did when I refreshed my Split HP 13 x 2 which has been upgraded to Windows 8. 1

    If this does not work, try to set the "HP Recovery" partition as "Active" in the Windows Disk Management Console and restart the computer. If everything is working correctly, your computer must begin the process of HP recovery and restore your computer to a factory State.

    (1) you can set the "HP Recovery" as "Active" partition using a Windows installation disc and choosing repair options.

    (2) If you try to create your discs of HP recovery at this moment and the system allows you, the created disks will be the original image of Windows 8, which has been installed on your computer.

    If none of the works above, you will need to contact HP to order a set of disks.

    Unfortunately, there is not.

    The last platform of chipset for intel XP driver support is the 7 series.

    I'm a little surprised to learn that your laptop has not a BIOS where you can change the settings for disk controller to IDE mode, but I guess that since XP (maybe Vista too) is the only OS that would need such a context, and Intel left support for XP, so there is no reason to have this option more.

    You will have either Lance XP on an older laptop, or use W7 Pro on your G1 440, enable VT in the BIOS and have this XP virtual machine as I run on my dc7800 CMT.  I don't think it matters what model of PC you run in XP Mode on.

    XP mode works fine for my needs on the W7 Pro platform.
