HP ProBook 450 G: drive recovery on external hard drive

Hello!

I had a few questions.

I have a HP ProBook G2 450 with Windows 8.1 now, I wanted to create a disk recovery, but on an external hard drive. Is it so that it is not possible to put it on an external hard drive? When I try to make a recovery it says I should use one with at least 16 GB USB Flash drive. So this means that I could not even do a DVD recovery disc?

And I would also know, if I put teaching 10 Windows (as our University offers), is possible later use the 8.1 Windows recovery disc to return to 8.1?

Eager to help!

Marta

Hello

Please use a few DVDs or good USB. The USB will be write-protected therfore no point to use the external HARD drive because you will not be able to use your external HARD drive, only read. Normally, you have 2 options: use of DVD or USB.

Yes, you can use recovery media to go back to your orginal Windows 8.1.

Note: you can create recovery media once.

Kind regards.

Computer: Gateway MD2614u laptop, AMD Turion X 2 64-bit processor, designed for Windows Vista

External hard drive: WD My Book Essentials (surrounded by Western Digital 500 GB drive external hard)

Background: laptop was dropped, crushed physically the internal hard drive, all other aspects of the laptop appear to be in working condition.

Vista says: Windows Setup cannot install another USB or IEEE 1394 device.

It is important to note that the external drive is a SATA.  ALSO that there is NO hard drive internal to the computer right now.

I pulled the drive from its casing and place in my desktop computer.  I have installed Vista in this way, and placed the disc in its case, confident, would solve the problem.  "The found operating system"

I wiped the drive and tried again, this time using my Windows 7 to format the drive make a primary partition active and used the WD SmartWare to disable the password on the external, as well as VCD (Virtual CD, which contains the software for backup on and retrieve the external hard drive) on the outside.  Then installed Vista back once again, the drive in the enclosure, and again, I got 'the operating system not found '.

I tried to use the "gateway recovery disc" the computer asked me to do immediately after I ran it the first time.  They have installed the Vista gateway on the external hard drive without any problem, the recovery software has taught me that I had to press OK to restart the computer, but again once 'the operating system not found"happens.  I advanced and rebooted the computer out of habit and that the computer starts in what concerns the loading of "microsoft" bar (the green bar moving left to right while loading vista), and then it restarted itself.  This new responsible for the 'green bar' and restarted again.

3 times I let him, then I placed the regular 64 bit Vista disc in the status bar and try a startup repair.  "Windows cannot resolve the problem, do you want to send the information to Microsoft" or something that nearby.

I then tried using the disk for 32-bit Vista in the same way.

32 bit Vista disc completed the repair, but now the 'green bar' vista loading screen comes up, runs for a few seconds, and then I get a quick flash of a blue screen, and until I can see what he says, the computer restarts.

It is not a recovery image I've ever heard. It is fair to FreeDos

Most Sandisk readers seem to give problems - because they are designated as Local disk in the properties of the workstation. I had success with a Turbo PNY 32 GB

  • HP Probook 450 G1: Windows 8 HP recovery disks has not detected

    Hello

In the hope of someone can help me. I recently had a problem due to what I have to perform a recovery using HP RECOVERY discs [I ordered it] I don't have the HP Recovery Manager or the recovery of microsoft. So I have to do only through HP recovery disks.

If his sudden has not detected in my laptop. I hit the bottom of the hard drive, I can feel that it is rotating. When I double clicked on it. It appears that I have to insert the disc. [Although I have inserted]. I wiped also DVDs with a cloth dry go with stripes. I tested on my PC it detected [of course it won't work because it is not HP PC].

I also diagonsised the hard drive [wide test] component, it has demonstrated that it meets the test. I tested both with other CD/DVD games. It works very well.

I hope you got my problem.

    Product number: F6B14PA #ACJ

    Thank you

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the HP Support forum.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but from your description, I understand that the HP Probook 450 G1 does not detect the recovery DVDs. However, the other CDs/DVDs work fine and the recovery (at least detected) on another PC media.

I understand that you need to recover, but despite this, Windows starts correctly now? What is the problem you can get you to try to recover? In Winows, recovery disks are recognized?

To be honest, I don't know why it is not detected, but there are some things you can try:

-Boot in the BIOS and disable secure boot + turn on Legacy mode

    Details > > http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/The-selected-boot-device-failed-Press-enter-to-continue/m-p/5730515

    Details > > http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03653226

-Try to boot from the media of recovery of the DVD (first is the one that is re. OS - I see, you should have 2 recovery DVDs - one for the OS, one for the drivers).

keep hitting the Esc key (such as tap-tap-tap).

This should open a HP Boot Menu. Choose F9 to open the boot options. Select the USB drive as boot option.

I would like to know if it works for you.

  • ProBook 450 - second series of recovery media, blue screens windows 7 (win 8 okay, not the hardware problem)

    I had a new HP probook 450 G1.

Immediately, I swapped the 750 GB for one SSD drive and tried to install Windows 7 from the recovery media. The operation has failed. Contact HP support, they sent new media.

I used new media. Windows 7 operating system installed. As soon as I install the drivers, the PC goes in a loop of the blue screen.

I can install the chipset drivers and wifi. Don't know what the other driver is causing the blue screen. I can also install from the windows media 8, so this isn't a hardware problem - wife hates just windows 8.

Basically, please either give me a few troubleshooting steps or I'll go back to the PC. I'm NOT insterested in a manual process long to determine which driver is the problem and the recovery download media manually the drivers one... should work.

After you have reinstalled the original 750 GB hard drive with the replacement media, I managed to an attempt to "recover". So, I decided to sit and try, by the process of elimination, all drivers.

It turns out that the technology Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver was causing the problem. When I installed everything BUT that, the laptop works very well. Notice that I use a fairly new SSD Crucial of M500. It is quite possible there are other people out there see it. You really need to install the driver of rapid storage technology, it is fast enough - not not even 100% sure what good to give the driver.

So I gave myself wrong guidance by the initial recovery of defective media. The second group of work recovery media, but the version of the driver intel 12.7.3.1001 does NOT work with the Crucial M500. I checked the Intel site for driver downloads, and it was not clear that they have a newer driver appropriate right now. Maybe someone else can tell?

  • Free space on hard drive for HP PROBOOK 450 G0 - H0U95EA

    Hello

I'm looking for a laptopo HP, I would like to know the free space on hard drive for HP PROBOOK 450 G0 - H0U95EA.

In the datasheet there are 750GB but in a boutique internet... I found that free space is that of 320 GB, is it good?

    Thank you!

    Marco

More new software installs would more or less 60 gigs and a 750 GB drive reads as on 690 concerts in Windows Explorer. There will be a recovery partition and system partition that could take up to another 20 GB or more. Free space out of the box is still more than 575 casual jobs. That will decrease as games for Windows restore points.

  • # 500-164 HP model: backed up my files in 2 external hard drives, and then made recovery, came back and recovery error

I saved my files to two external hard drives and then did a recovery.  After the end of the recovery, it says error recovery and no change to the computer.    I left that screen and booted up, but the computer does not go to the lock screen.  Circle of HP logo lights up and goes, but nothing happens.

How can I get to the lock screen?   I have tried F11 and Esc.

Your post shows your PC than the execution of win10, but it comes preinstalled with Win8x.  This means that at some point, you've done setting at Win10 level, and unfortunately, that corrupts the information of HP recovery: HP Recovery Manager blocked after Windows 10 Upgrade - HP Support Forum's - 5170752

Once you do this upgrade, the ONLY way to perform a recovery after that use HP recovery media.

Ordinarily, I advise to use HP recovery media to restore your PC to its original state. That would erase the entire disk, format the drive and install the operating system, drivers and utilities HP.

Unfortunately, there is no support of HP recovery related to HP for your PC Product Page. This could be an oversight by HP, or it could also mean that HP stock is no longer the recovery media for your PC.

You can try to contact the HP customer directly, using the links below, to see if you can order them if:

If you live in the United States or the Canada, details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1

If you live elsewhere, contact details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

NOTE: once you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to someone ' one - it can take a while!

    ---------------------------------------
However, HP customer care is generally not available on weekends, so you will have to wait until Monday to contact them.

If HP no longer provides a recovery media for your model, a few other sites, you should check are: http://www.computersurgeons.com/ and http://www.restoredisks.com/

    I bought a toshiba Satellite A300 - 15 d

FTM the tsscorp drive that is installed in the camera no longer works (does not detect any type of media what so ever). ) need to recover the laptop, so I used a USB DVD drive to boot from the restore disc, but after that the charges of recovery console it says waiting for media in the f: drive, which is the tsscorp drive although I used an external drive to load the disc.

What files should I edit to make it to load from the drive externally and if this isn't the solution, what do I do?

    Thanks in advance

    Hey Buddy,

Unfortunately I think that it of not possible to use the recovery with external CD/DVD drive disc. Therefore, place the internal for use the recovery disc.
You can get a new drive to an authorized service provider.

But if the original OS from Toshiba is installed, you can use the function of disk recovery HARD reinstall Windows as well. Go to the advanced boot menu (F8) and select Repair my computer :)
