HP probook 6470b - no display

I'm looking for confirmation on the following problem:

I have a HP probook 6470b that suddenly, the screen works on.   The backlight turns on, but no picture does not, not the start of Post for the HP logo or windows from the screens.  I suspect a bad LCD so I replaced it and I unfortunately have the same results with this screen (which I know to be a display of work).  The computer boots in fact facing upwards, and if I connect a monitor the output VGA port I work display.  Also, if I mount the unit on the docking station I get display on the connected monitors.

If at this point, my suspicion is that the port that the LCD connects to the motherboard is damaged/bad, or the motherboard itself has somehow missed or malfunctioned.  In this case, I'll have to replace the entire motherbaord, I suspect.

I tried the flush power / hard reset that I've seen suggested in all directions for almost every problem and this has no effect.  I also tried the recovery/reset Reset BIOS and had no change in symptoms.

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions before I look at the replacement of the motherboard?

Hello

Very good diagnosis already done by you.

1. you have connected an external monitor to the unit via the VGA and images are very well about this, which means that the rest of the functions are working properly.

2. you have already replaced the display board, and the question is always the same. Thus, it is not a problem with the Panel.

If the graphics drivers are all updated and works very well, we have the display cable (which is a separate part) that connects the display to the ZIF connector Panel (insertion force zero) or the ZIF connector on the motherboard itself.

I work for HP.

    Hi all

I recently got a new HP ZR2440w monitor that I would like to joing my whole upward.

Here is my current set up:

HP ProBook 6470b 230W Advanced Docking Station + an HP L1950 monitor.

My office is extended from the laptop to the Monitor HP L1950, giving double me poster.

I would like to extend my desktop to the new monitor HP ZR2440w giving me 3 displays (laptop display + HP L1950 monitor HP ZR2440w monitor)

For example, my question is: when I extend laptop to ZR2440w so that already granted to L1950 the ZR2440w does not connect.

Note: I the ZR2440w connected to the docking via Display Port and speak it L1950 via DVI.

I also tried both monitors on DVI.

I tried the software graphics intel installed on my laptop but when the laptop lid is opened it will only connect to one of the external monitors.

What I read I can only support 2 screens at the same time, but I feel like it rather kill to have so many display on the docking station ports and cannot use a while the laptop lid is open.

    Any help is greatly appericated.

    Thank you

    Steve.

Yes, this was a limitation for awhile. The video controller in the laptop is the pull-out to the dock and it is capable of only configuration "dual head" If you get the screen of the laptop and the screen more.

  • ProBook 6470b: mSATA SSD in a Probook 6470 b

    Hey

I just want to tell you is possble to install an mSATA SSD in a HP Probook 6470b. While I don't see a present pci slot which can be adapted for an mSATA ssd, I don't want to face any questions that he might not be guilty or bios regonise the reader, etc.. My idea is to have the mSATA SDS which will serve as my boot device and have a 1 TB or 2 TB 2.5' HDD for data. Right now I use a samsung 840 EVO SSD 2.5' as my boot drive.

    Kind regards

    Nick

Here's what it says in the Manual:

Flash module 24 GB of cache mSATA Intel (Intel Smart Response Technology (SRT), not available on computer models equipped with WWAN or SSD)

So yes, you can insert a disc of the WSSD in the pci-e slot you see. However, it is designed only to be used as cache acceleration and not as a main boot drive. This means that it will be bootable, but only as long as a regular SATA HDD or SSD is not present. It is the oldest mSATA material used with the Intel Core processors 3rd generation on business models and processors of gen 4th on consumption patterns. Later models can use the slot of the WSSD to boot, but not yours without significant configuration involving a bootloader installed on the SATA drive.

  • mSata update for HP ProBook 6470b

Hello, I've read here on similar problems, but did not get the clear answer :-(

    Question:

    I have a HP ProBook 6470 b,

I noticed that there is a slot mSATA and the module cache flash 24 GB of support if WWAN card is not installed (as in this case)

    can I do the following:

    -install a 60 GB mSATA SMS200S3 / 60G

-change the boot sequence in the bios to boot from mSata first, second HDD

-install Windows 8 on my mSATA,

Basically, I want to use windows 8 on my mSATA and leave the HARD drive as a data disc.

    I'm very apprechiate your oppinions!

or other improvements of the boost to the HARD drive.

    Thank you in advance,

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

Availability of WSSD player 24 concert for your specific model is not mentioned, but there is no instructions as to where he is or how to access it.

The WWAN slot will not accept a WSSD. It's a unique calling used only for WWAN. If you've seen specific information that says otherwise let us know but I remember answering a question, there is no if long of someone who has this exact model, wondering why its WSSD disc inserted in this slot didn't work. In other models similar where her WSSD is available but not shown in the manual, the slot is on the motherboard, you must remove the card to access.

If you install a WSSD you can not use as boot drive without using a bootloader installed on the main drive. The BIOS are written in such a way that the SATA drive will replace an mSATA and the latter cannot be started if a SATA drive is present. Your best bet to speed it up is to get an old regular 2.5-inch SATA SSD, or open it completely and add a 24 concert disk cache and then use Intel quick to start up as an accelerator. This is a major improvement in performance.

  • ProBook 6470b has separate video?

I see conflicting reports. All models of 6470b have the AMD Radeon and Intell GPU? I just bought a 6470 refurb HP division b. A very nice unit; No one can confirm the GPU. I do not see an AMD in Device Manager; support suggested to install the AMD driver, but still, it does not show in DM. There is nothing that I see in the related graphics of switching BIOS.

I can update BIOS, but will not if my unit is not required (i.e. only has 4000 Intel).

My camera is an i5 CPU (not HD +) NVS, if no aid.

    Thank you.

    Yes, that would be nice.

Enter the serial # on a Dell PC will give you all kinds of info.

However, you may be able to find your specific configuration by doing a google search of your product number, which is the other number found on the tile as well as S/N.

It is fairly new you can find a link to HP for the exact specifications or another place that sold it.

If your video card is do what you do, it's good.

I think that video AMD would add a lot of heat to the laptop.

  • ProBook 6470b: problems after format the laptop and load the W7

    Hi all

    Here are my problems:

After 2 years using the laptop, I decided to format it and reboot with the disk W7 of professional origin.

At the same time, I exchanged the original SATA HDD with a new SSD in Kingston.

After you have installed all the drivers, it seems to work very well and much more quickly, but has two problems:

1 - the automatic update of Windows does not work. Only is looking for available updates, but it ends, even > 24 h research.

    2. before reinstalling, my battery lasts for 5 hours. Now only 2 to 2.5 hours.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve my problems?

    Thanks in advance.

    Ernest

    Good, glad it worked

Have you had any success with the BIOS settings? Contact HP support directly for this may be a good idea here.

Can you tell me if it is possible to have a slot with 4 GB of DDR3 RAM and another with 8 GB of RAM DDR3L (same frequency)?

I saw him work in my PC, but the DDR3 slot with 1.5V and the other with 1.35v, so I removed DDR3 and I'm only using the DDR3L memory, but it would be good to have 12 GB!
