HP Probook 650 G1: How to disable the keys way to Probook 650 G1 running Windows 7, 64-bit

I just bought a HP Probook G1, intel i7 650 - 4600 m, system BIOS 01.34-08/28/2015, keyboard review KBC 16.3 C version.

ESC and F1 through F12 function keys seem to be in the Mode of action key (for example flight gives HP, F6 system information allows you to change the audio levels, etc.)- and I prefer to keep the standard functions of these keys (for shortcuts in Word and Excel, also for Express Scribe transcription software).

I found Ctrl + Fn + the function key corresponding is workaround to achieve some (but not all) the standard functions - but which is cumbersome when used frequently. Workaround doesn't seem to work for the ESC key.

I saw a few tips on how to disable the Mode keys on some laptops HP - eg
http://support.HP.com/au-en/document/c02035108

- and I have used this method on the previous laptop HP (e.g. Pavilion G6), but it does not work for this Probook. The configuration screen of the BIOS on my new machine does not seem to show the key Action Mode (or same System Configuration) as an option.

I would be grateful for suggestions.

Problem is now resolved, thanks to HP Technical Support phone line. Their tips were:

* go to the BIOS Setup in the usual way (shut down, then power on, press ESC, choose F10 for Bios configuration)

* Choose the Information System

* arrow above to advance

* Choose the Configuration of the device

* Uncheck the Fn key switch

* Save, etc.

The corresponding option is more referred to Action Mode button for this model of HP laptop, at least not for the version of BIOS this Probook 650 G1 (worm 1.36, 25/04/2016).

On right-clicking on the icon/file on the desktop, we get several options such as open, open with, cut, copy, delete, rename, scan with etc.; There's also the uninstalled software options - such as video to convert. Scan with NPAV. I want to know how to remove these options because they are redundant. For example I have uninstalled the antivirus NPAV software and replaced by MS essentials but the right click shows the two options of scan with MS essentials and NPAV. In the same way convert video option does not work as I uninstalled the trial version of the software that was pre-existing when I got the PC.

    Hi Harvey.

This problem is limited to a specific program? You are able to uninstall other programs?

We will analyze and identify the cause of the problem. Normally, this problem occurs when Windows Installer could not find the required components.

    Method 1:

I suggest you run the Microsoft Fixit to try and Uninstall the software from the computer.

Check out the link to launch the Fixit:

Solve problems with programs that cannot be installed or uninstalled
    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/program_install_and_uninstall/

    a. click 'Accept'
    b. Select "Detect problems and apply the patches for me".
    c. Select "Uninstall".
    d. Select "Encyclopedia Britannica"
    e. Fixit will search for bad registry files and try to fix it.

    Method 2:

If the problem persists, I suggest to perform the steps described in the article and check.

The Welcome Center appears each time I have windows to connect.  I uncheck the box in the lower left corner in the visitor centre, but it does not work.  He always keeps showing upwards. So please tell me how to disable the reception centre for a standard user.

    Thank you very much.
    Jacky

    Hello Jackyhn,

You can make a registry change using the following key:

Method 1: Go to the Windows Vista registry editor

To disable Windows Vista Welcome Center with editing the registry:

    • Type regedit in Windows Vista start menu search box.
    • Highlight:
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER, Software > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion, Run.
    • Right-click on the WindowsWelcomeCenter key and select Delete.
      Reboot your system.

Change the settings of the REGISTRY can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the REGISTRY settings configuration can be solved. Changes to these settings are at your own risk.

If please reply back and let us know if this suggestion has helped.

    * means that each drive is checked for consistency. Just add /K:C to the end before *. /K switch will disable autocheck on C: drive at Windows startup. If the final value should look like this:

    / k: C to autocheck autochk *.

If you want to add more drives, the key should look like this: (by disabling the drives C and D)

  • How to disable the keys of spring?

Well, I have Photoshop CS5 and have had this problem for years between three computers and only now understood what was wrong - the key of spring are face with my keyboard shortcuts. I have the Q, A, S, D, Z, X and C keys programmed as shortcuts because they are the most comfortable keys to use while I'm working. Unfortunately, bloody shortcuts spring also use some of these keys and they are constantly interfering with my work. I will go to my brush (Z) and suddenly it zoomed in another part of the bloody canvas. How can I disable this annoying feature? Can or if I can't turn it off, I at least change the keys so that they are on the side of the keyboard that I use NOT?

I don't like how 'useful' they are. I do not use them and I don't want to use. I don't want my less practical keys shortcuts. I want to just this feature stupid to stop interfering with my work. This is my biggest problem with the help of Photoshop and I just want it to stop finally happening.

Your post reminds me of that old saying...

"" The best thing about banging your head against a brick wall, is nice it feels when you stop. ' "

However, if this is the way you want to work, then deleting a shortcut with Edit > keyboard shortcuts also disables the spring-loaded shortcuts that use the same key.   This seems a little obvious, so I guess you tried?

I have a new HP laptop with Windows 8.1. I HATE the charms bar. It is very annoying. I have disabled the function of the angle of the bar charms appears is more that if I drag the edges of the corner, however, it pop again randomly. I'll be typing along and it will just pop up, blocking everything I am.

I have absolutely no need of this bar of charms. In fact, the only thing that I used it for is to get to the option to disable them. However, on this laptop, which is not completely disable them... I tried to go to control panel mouse to turn them off, but this option is not available. However, I don't think it's the mouse pad, forcing them to pop up even when... I'll be typing along, not even touch the carpet of mouse, and all of a sudden they're going to pop up.

How to disable the touchpad on Probook 4525 s permanently?  Can I uninstall the driver in Control Panel, but the next time, he is back on again once.  I use a usb mouse and touchpad is simply in the way when I type.

    Damy salvation!

There are a few options depending on your OS and your version of TouchPad.

    • The best option, if it should be available for you is:

New drivers (at least the V16.x) have the ability to disable the TouchPad / click on the keypad with a setting on the main page 'Settings' when a USB mouse is used.  This is a very nice feature.

Control Panel > display icon > mice > TouchPad [ClickPad] settings >

CHECK "disable the pointing device internal when the external USB pointing device is attached.

If you want to be alerted and see a visual cue of disability >

TICK "Animated icon in the taskbar" >

and make sure you have your updated task bar notifications so you can see the view of the mouse.

    =====================================================

Here's a 16.2.X TouchPad driver for the ProBook series - it can run on your laptop:

    sp58647 Synpatics V.16.2.10.12

    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Another method that may work with a driver older if the best option isn't available:

Control Panel > display icon > mice > TouchPad [ClickPad] settings >

() repeat) TouchPad settings (button) > click tapping >

    Click the shimmering blue wheel

In "box to Disable TouchPad settings".

CHECK "Double Tap to activate / disable the TouchPad.

In the 'Action in the upper left'

    CHECK "Turn off the TouchPad.

    Close

    Ok

    NOTE
if this alternative is available, it is very well, unless something goes wrong.  You could get stuck without your USB mouse AND no way to return to the setting to activate the touchpad.  I don't know if I would use this setting.

    I hope this helps!

  • How to disable the SOS on Apple Watch 2 function

How to disable the SOS on Apple Watch 2 function?

    Hello

It is not currently possible to completely disable the SOS emergency feature.

However, to disable "hold to call auto":

    • On your iPhone, in the application of the watch, go to: Watch My > General > emergency SOS - deactivate Hold to call self.
  • How to disable the feature CALL SOS?

I've just updated to iOS 10 and 3 watch OS, but I can't find how to disable the feature of emergency SOS on my Apple Watch.

I thought it would be a good feature for me so I turned it on, but my fingers are clumsy, so I struck the wrong cursor when I turned off my watch and accidentally, I called 911. I've disabled "Stick to Auto Call" and deleted all my contacts SOS in general in the application to watch on my iPhone and I restarted the iPhone and the Apple Watch, but emergency SOS still shows on my watch when I want to turn off my watch.

I think that before I turned emergency SOS, I saw "Power Reserve" under the "Power Off". I read that once you turn Hold for Auto call in the app shows and then turn off, the cursor of SOS emergency will always be displayed when you turn off the watch.

How can I disable the cursor of emergency SOS when I turn off my Apple Watch? Can I use Reset under general, or désapparier my watch and pair again? I don't want to do that, because it would take a lot of time to get all my settings that I want them to be.
