HP ProBook 655 G1: upgrade to Windows 8.1 to downgrade from Windows 7

Hello

I just bought a refurbished HP ProBook 655 G1 with Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) for my wife to use for the job.  I just found out that so that with my wife to support, they now require Windows Pro 8.1 (by the way, does not support Windows 10, so the free update for which I am eligible won't help).  Apparently, the machine came with Windows 8 pro license, even if it is currently running Windows 7.  I need to go back to Windows 8 and upgrade to Windows Pro 8.1.  Because the machine is not come with any type of installation or media recovery, how should I do this?

Thank you.

For those looking for an answer, I just completely re-installed windows 8.

  • ProBook 470: ProBook 470 poor WiFi after upgrade to Windows 10

    Hi all

There are so many issues report on WiFi on Windows 10 problems, but I'm not really mine.

I'm running the ProBook HP 470 with WiFi Atheros 9000 series card. It worked fine with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.

A couple of weeks, I decided to upgrade to Windows 10. Everything works fine, except the WiFi. I can connect to the WLAN and network speed and the signal strength is perfect, but after a while (minutes or even hours), he falls abruptly to the bottom and my router WLAN even States disconnected, but he'll fix itself after a while. I can force the "self-repair-speed" of disabling and enabling WiFi again.

But, this is no good solution, WiFi has to work reliable all the time when not moving and it work perfectly with Windows 7. I was hoping that Microsoft and hardware vendors manage drivers after one year of version 10 of Windows, but seems not to be the case.

I have already installed the latest driver for HP download site, but it is already a year old, and it was the same thing as Windows / Microsoft has done while Windows Upgrade. Therefore no change to be expected.

Before that I go down again to Windows 7, what can I do? There are a few other pilots who could interfere with WLAN and might not be updated? (More of the WLAN driver I don't have other day manually because I count for the Windows upgrade process.)

    Volker

The laptop is to date, according to the release of Windows 10.

Anyway, it doesn't work well, that's why I decided to downgrade to Windows 7. Now it works again as it is supposed to.

    Sales page of HP for HP p/n F2P35UT - HP ProBook 450 G1 States;

"Windows 7 Professional 64 (available through Windows 8 Pro downgrade rights)
Note: This system is preinstalled with Windows 7 Professional software and also comes with a license and support for Windows 8 Pro software. You can only use a version of the Windows software at a time. Switching between versions you need to uninstall a version and install the other version. You must back up all the data (files, photos, etc.) before you uninstall and install operating systems to avoid the loss of your data. »

    Bipman1

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

Probably not, but it is not for some.

I say that because, with the situation of Win10 upgrade, Microsoft used to make so-called right digital - in which they REUSED the existing Windows license for the upgrade and then store this information on their activation servers.

Thus, if later you downgraded the PC to its former operating system, and then again later, you decided that you wanted to, you COULD do that because the PC was already seen with Ms.

But the OEM licenses are different, and since it is an OEM PC, I simply don't know if digital law applies in this case - OEM a license in the past, has always been different from the consumption of licenses.

  • HP Wireless Assistant for Windows 8 (upgrade of Windows 7) (HP Probook 6450 b)

Computer laptop HP ProBook 6450 b basic model

    Purchased in September 2011.

Just yesterday upgraded to Windows 8. Was a child, all game worked initially. During the restart, I disabled the wireless since installation of Windows Defender wasnot.

Then I realized, I can't turn on wireless. The button is just disabled.

Can only be connected on the local network.

Search on the web revealed HP Wireless Assistant be the culprit. This should be removed before the upgrade in Win 7.

It is now too late.  Does anyone have a resolution for this one?

    Thank you

I read in another post that changing the default BIOS settings should do the trick.

    That seems to work:

    -Stop the laptop

-Remove the power cable & battery

-Press the on switch for 30 seconds

    -Power home

    -Laptop power and press F10

-Enter the BIOS and set the changes to default

    That seemed to work.

Of course, restarting do not work and that is easy to fix (driven from power!).

Thank you all for the advice.

  • ProBook 6560 b: upgrade Windows 10

    I have Windows 7 pro 64 - bit OS.

I don't have the small icon of upgrade to windows 10. On the forum I read a few solutions, including a cmd.exe, but no solution work. It seems that my computer is not eligible for an upgrade.

Windows 7 pro was preinstalled on the computer, it's a legal product.

The SP1was installed on the computer, windows update is turned on automatically.

I did the C:/Temp/ReserveWin10.cmd but the script fails in an infinite loop, it seems that I don't have the prerequisites necessary Windows updates.

  • ProBook 450 G1: Question of Probook of video playback in G1 of the 450 after upgrade to Windows 10

    Hello.

Issues (stop, shaking in the video and sound) are multiply video playback after upgrade Windows 8.1 for Windows 10.

    Questions for:

    -Playback (avi, mkv, mp4 etc.) VMP Movies & TV AND;

    -Playback of video from Youtube by Edge and IE11;

    -Video playback in games.

NO problem all does to (workaround):

-Reading of files (avi, mkv, mp4 etc) by VLC player.

-Video playback from Youtube through Firefox.

Not any way to workaround that emit in the games: its integrated use of resources of the browser.

VLC uses own video codecs, so I think that this emission source is possibly in embedded Windows 10 codecs?

    Drivers:

Intel SoftPaq Download Manager Video drivers (latest for Windows 10: technical support site the same as at HP).

AMD drivers for Widnows 10 SoftPaq Download Manager (the same that at HP supports the site) is buggy and causes crash (the "internal power error"). If Catalyst drivers from AMD (latest from Windows 10) site.

Additional drivers, also upgraded for Windows 10 (via the SDM for Windows-10): chipset keeps drivers, WiFi, 3D etc.

    Any ideas?

Problem has been resolved by unistalling HD Audio drivers (installed on Windows 8.1 early HP).

After the reboot, the drivers HD Audio was automatically installed and then updated via Windows Update.

Video playback is now correct through no fault inside any software (IE, edge, WMP etc.).

  • ProBook 655 G1: 693374-001 and H6Y77AA #ABA the same?

I want to upgrade my laptop Probook 655 G1 8 GB to 16GB of memory. The repair sheet State the number appropriate to HP 693374-001 spare parts. During the audit of third party suppliers, they seem to use the reference no.. H6Y77AA interchangeable #ABA with 693374-001. It's the same room? Reference No.. H6Y77AA is listed in the HP store, but 693374-001 is not.

How Ref. H6Y77AA differ from reference no.. H6Y77UT? They seem to be identical.

    Thank you!

The best place to check who is on the site Web of HP Partsurfer.

    http://PartSurfer.HP.com/

I couldn't find a direct confirmation on Partsurfer they were of the same party. PartSurfer list 693374-001, but not H6Y77AA. Similarly, the HP Store listed H6Y77AA, but not 693374-001. Apparently H6Y77AA is a part number to detail or options, and 693374-001 is a number of parts repair or spare parts.

I then went to the Quik card for 17 ZBook, which lists the option of add-on memory 8 GB as H6Y77AA. Similarly, the Service and maintenance for the 17 ZBook Guide lists 693374-001 the number of spare parts for the module of 8GB.

They are the same part.  One would think, however, that HP would make it easier to find that little information...
