HP ProBook s 4540: 14.04.3 of Ubuntu LTS works very slowly after ram upgrade on HP ProBook s 4540

Hello, I changed the default 4 GB aData RAM sticks 8Gbx2 stick.

No, it takes forever to start and open any aplication including terminal.

Do you have a Linux swap partition? With 16 GB of RAM you should not have it. You also have an SSD?

  • ProBook 440 G2: RAM Upgrade will void the warranty?

    Hello

After a lot of dilemma, I buy THISlaptop.

My main concern is the "on-site 5-year guarantee" it comes with.

This laptop has now only 4 GB of RAM. I want to add an another 4 GB myself.

In doing so, it will take Bay opening to service the laptop.

Open myself for a RAM upgrade will void the warranty?

In addition, no one knows how much total RAM this computer supports? How many slots is there?

The page of the product didn't.

I tried to contact HP technical support by email, and I have to enter a serial number to reach them. I entered the serial number of my laptop current (and also a probook), but I think that the agent did not read my email properly. Instead of answering my question, he sent me a link to extend the warranty on my laptop today.

    Thank you...

    Hello

According to the Manual, it has 2 slots:

See Page 2, 3, 47, 48, to get the instructions before and during the replacement process. Even if it is a simple procedure if you do not have confidence in replacement, it gives to the HP service center, they will do it for you. Opening the door to service memory will not void the warranty - but if you daamage something in the replacement process, it will void the warranty.

Please get the exact configuration and preference of the same brand (like this one in the slot) of RAM, mentioned in the manual.

You can run this toolto know the details of the installed RAM sticks & moving forward with the purchase of od sizes appropriate sticks needed to make it to 8 GB in total.

  • HP Probook 6465b: Broadcom 4313gn does not work after the upgrade to Windows 10

My laptop is HP Probook 6465b (model 2012) it came with Win 7 Pro pre-installed.

I upgraded Win 10 and after that a Wi - Fi connection does not work. Then I tried the new facility, but it's the same thing.  I have come back to Win 7, but I would like to upgrade Win 10 if I can get the WiFi adpter for work.  My laptop otherwise works fine and it is not that old so I am confused why this wi - fi adapter gives me grey hair.

    Here is what happened:

Just after upgading wi - fi works very well until the first stop. After reboot, free WiFi does not work and there is no wi - fi adapter in Device Manager. However, it's there, but it is hidden.

I tried freezing and relocation of the map and I downloaded the latest drivers from HP Support, but I can't get the adapter to work.

To get the internet to work I plugged USB wi - fi adapter and suddenly the WiFi Broadcom card started working also. She even worked after unplugging the wi - fi USB adapter but after reboot internal wi - fi adapter was missing again well (hidden and does not), it is too compligated to do each time and she even does not work every time, just every now and then.

    Any suggestions?

  • HP - Compaq ProBook 4520 s: HP - Compaq ProBook 4520 s compatible RAM upgrades

Hi guys! I bought the HP - Compaq ProBook 4520 s and I plan to upgrade my memory (4 GB of ram).  Is PC3-12800 unbuffered NON - ECC 1.35v or PC3-10600 1333 - PC3 compatible? Can anyone suggest me what is the most compatible? Thank you!

Supports up to 8 GB of system RAM PC3-8500, 1066 MHz, DDR3

I guess you want to upgrade to 8 gigs. The specified memory modules are:

    4 GB (PC3-10600 1333 MHz, DDR3) 599092-001

    http://www.Amazon.com/HP-VH641AT-4-GB-DDR3-PC3-10600/DP/B0030L3B8E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&QID=1451132539&SR=8-1&keywords=599092-001

It does not speed up the system to install memory 1600 mhz and your laptop requires no 1.35 volts. The DDR3-1600 (PC3-12800) might work, but you're better off buy the modules specified or as close to them as you can find.

  • HP Probook G3 450: Start slowly after bios update

    Hello everyone,

I am a new user of laptop Hp so I need your help, I want to thank you for your time to read and help me with this problem.

Yesterday, I updated the bios Hp SoftPaq Download Manager recommendation. Progress to succeed and the result of this action made my laptop boot really slowly. The first time, it took just 10 seconds to start windows 10 compared to more than two minutes after the update of the bios.

I've already searched google for help, but it still does not originally.

Please help me with your experience on it, I really appreciate all your help.

    Best wishes

    NewHpUser256

Assuming that this PC came with the edition of Win10, all I can guess at this point is the default setting for FastStartup is in conflict with the new version of the BIOS.  It is a new form of hibernation which is supposed to speed up your boot process, but in some cases, it actually slows down.

There are two ways to disable FastStartup Win8/10; (1) via the control panel and (2) through a command prompt high.

Control Panel - open Control Panel-> Power Options.
Select ' choose what buttons power. "
Select "change settings that are currently unavailable".
At the bottom of the window, under stop settings, uncheck the box about quick startup

High - command prompt run the following command:
    REG ADD "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Power" v HiberbootEnabled /T REG_dWORD 0 f d

    In both cases, restart Windows.

If this doesn't fix it, there is something to play and while this PC is still under warranty, you should contact HP Customer Support directly so they put you in contact with HP Tech Support to see what they can do on the diagnosis and repair of your machine remotely.

I did recently, and HP technology was able to remotely access my PC on the Internet and to make the necessary repairs.

If you live in the United States or the Canada, details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1

If you live elsewhere, contact details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

NOTE: once you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to someone ' one - it can take a while!
    -------------------------------------------
However, HP customer care is generally not available on weekends, so you may have to wait until Monday to contact them.

    Good luck

  • HP Probook s 4710 Ram upgrade

Hello I have a proobook Hp s 4710 with win7 ultimate 64 bit and I want to upgrade my Ram.

Currently, according to CPU - z I 2 GB 800 MHz. By searching hp.com and the net I discovered that some 4710 s take other ddr3 and ddr2.

So I chated with an HP expert 2 weeks ago and he said that my laptop run maximum 8 GB at 1333. And I went bought 2x2gb 1333...

When I tried to install that I fell on a DDR2 socket! Obviously, the ddr3 was not appropriate in this medium.

So my question is---> what is happening? Everywhere I look on the Net some say DDR2 and DDR3 of others. How is that possible? The laptop has other modules Drr3 media I did not find?

    My S/N {retired privacy} and P/n is NX629EA #AKD

    Please help because I'm depserate!

    Hello

Thank you very much for the link, I don't really know what is happening here also. It says on page #3 DDR2 but on another page (s) he says DDR3. The manual also shows DDR2 as in my previous post and you have discovered it only supports DDR2. Maybe more later models supported DDR3. Anyway, back to your question, I know Crucial RAM works but don't know others. I'm sorry.

    Kind regards.

  • Performance degrades in Probook s 4540 after upgrade memory

Hello. I installed recently in my memory modules two Kingston Probook4540 (2x8gb ddr3 1600 CL10 240 pins). Since I did this, Windows 8 is much longer to start and performance dropped considerably. But, if I put only one of the two modules, or the original 4 GB module, Windows runs at normal speed.

I think it's a BIOS problem, as I see this error even on laptops the other brand, for example here
    http://superuser.com/questions/379970/laptop-is-incredibly-slow-after-RAM-upgrade

I have the latest BIOS version available (F31 26-SEP-2012).

    Thank you.

In case anyone is still interested in this topic:

It is a solution that worked for me.

It is not an official solution or supported.

I used the laptop intensively in the described configuration and had no problems that I can relate to the configuration of the memory.

Deduct from a 256 MB RAM memory available for OS could eliminate the problem for some processors.

    The solution runs on:
    -HP 4540S

    -i5 - 2450M

    -AMD/Intel switchable graphics card

    -16 GB OF RAM

    -Bios F.42

It might work for other processors.

Under Windows, you should deduct 256 MB of RAM, using EasyBCD or a similar tool.

    Instructions for EasyBCD:

Under Advanced settings/developer set 256 under "MiB deducted from physical memory", save the settings and reboot.

In Linux, the "mem = 17G" value in the boot of the kernel settings (actually deducted 256 MB).

    Edit:

On Windows 7 and later versions, you can also use the following instead of EasyBCD:

    bcdedit/set {current} removememory 256

(Run the command at the prompt with administrator privileges and restart).

  • 4540 proBook s mdt2012 net driver

I searched high and low for a solution and tried several different things, all for nothing will do. We have several new portable 4540 probook s and I'm looking to deploy using MDT 2012 windows7x86. I have uploaded the drivers to my host to deploy and rebuilt my images of pe, but winpe does not connect to my deployment share - error - the following pΘriphΘrique ParamΘtrage did not have a driver installed. I have double and triple checked the driver's inf file and it matches the PCI\VEN id on the material in the factory responsible for the OS. DRVLOAD refuses to load this driver when pointed at it. I use sp59118 for the realtek gigabit lan adapt. I tried the driver for our old 4530 s, and even if she is charged, I was still unable to see an inface or connect to the deployment share. Can anyone help with this? Please? My sanity hangs in the balance on this one. Thanks in advance.

    John

    Hello

I had replied to your post earlier, but apparently it never went through.

I tried my 4540 s here with my team multidisciplinary-2012 and it works very well. My litetouch.wim mdt is based on windows 4 and I to use the winpe driverpack sp60861 hp.

Note that there is also a winpe 3.x SP58992 form.

Could you let me know what version of winpe, comes your litetouch.wim?  WinPE 3or 4 x 86 or x 64

To try to reproduce your issue tro I tried the following:

    1. Extract p59118
    2. Has taken a fresh winpe 3.1 without any additional driver added
    3. Use dism to mount
    4. Then add the driver c:\swsetup\sp59118\WIN7\NDIS6\32\hp86win7.inf
    5. commit the changes and unmount the image wim

I then started the 4540 s that wim has successfully loaded the driver for the CARD, and I could connect to my server mdt-2012.

I also tried to start my 4540 s fees, vanilla, winpoe 3.1 x 86, then use drvload to load the hp86win7.inf driver does load successfully and again once I could connect to the server mdt-2012

So, I am sure that this driver is OK.

Could you tell me what version of winpe, you use?  3 or 4 also x 86 or x 64?

You can check that the correct driver is loaded in your Michael boot.wim file?  Use dism to get a list of driver and check if you see correctly rt86win7.sys

In addition, when you boot your mdt boot media, press F8 to get a cmd command prompt and do an ipconfig to check whether you are connected or not.

Also if you want you could send me (I can give you an ftp site) your wim file bootable and I could watch and I hope to resolve this.

    Let me know
