  I just received a Scanjet 4200C scanner as my all in one is down. I'm trying to analyze things I want to save them on the computer, but it will only bring up the printer as a choice. Is there a way or software I can download to change that. I run XP Professional.

• I was using WIA in Photoshop Elements because of problems with my scanner HP ScanJet sudden 4200C window. With the help of my scanner HP through WIA worked very well. Now I have problems analysis with either WIA or the window of the HP scanner.

  Hello. I used the Sm4200c for years without problem. Suspected of corruption in the software/driver, so I decided to reinstall. I have uninatalled first and downloaded the zip package aproropriate on the HP support site. Everything works fine until the bar reaches 5% enforcement, then I get this message:

  "An error has occurred and implementation is unable to complete. Make sure that all applications are closed, and try to restart the installation. (Error 32).

  Well, I've been through this several times now and I can't just install the software. I am running XP SP3.

  AVAST FALSE POSITIVE. PROBLEM SOLVED.

  I suspected that my Avast AV was causing the problem with the installation. I checked the vault Avast and found a HP file that has been blocked several times as a * suspected * Win32-Evo-Gen.

  I downloaded the HP 4200C driver zip file again and scanned with Avast. No virus found. I then turned off Avast temporarily. The driver installation went perfectly after that. It seems that we are dealing with a false positive from Avast.

  Scanner flat Grand, the ScanJet 4200C. Used with my old HP Pavilion (running Win98SE!) for 12 years.

  Just a new Pavilion (a6200t) running Vista Home Basic and I would love to continue to use the ScanJet.

  Anyone know if/when can I get software/drivers to allow such use?

  Thank you for your response.  I posted the same question to the Board of Directors Microsoft as well.  One of the technicians gave me a link to a website that has software in support of scanners which pilots the manufacturer has not, for some reason, took worth to upgrade to Windows Vista or Windows 7.  I installed Vuescan driver bundled with the program which works perfectly, and my scanner HP Scanjet scanner 5370c is upward and great in Windows 7.  They have a list of more than 100 scanners supported by the program.  So, anyone interested should check the list before you buy the program.  No, the program is not free, but it is much cheaper ($39.95) that pitching on a scanner perfectly ideal of work and having to buy a new one.    Anyway, if anyone is interested in the possibility of using their scanner ' is no longer supported "with Windows 7, the website below might help.
