HP SimpleSave HD hpmd1000h: HPSimpleSave in Windows 10

I've been a successful user of the system external HD HP SimpleSave backup. After recently installing Windows 10 improvement of 8.1, I just discovered that the system does not work and seems to have been disabled on Windows 10 irreversably. He has been connected to a USB 3.0 connector but does not work in the location of USB 2.0. In the Task Manager it does not meet the selection to activate it. No content of the disk is visible and accessible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@JohnDubyaH

These discs - and software on them--tend to fail after this long regardless of the operating system.  This is not say that connect setup Windows 10 do not have a negative impact on the reader / software - equipment is vintage and the software was never run on this OS tip.

You could try to find a system that is running an older operating system - say Windows 7 and see if you can retrieve / see the data on the disk again.

The words 'could try' must deliberately - this may or may not work.

Assuming that you can ever see the data on the disk, back up data immediately to another drive / NAS / something.

  • External hard drive HP SimpleSave incompatible with Windows Vista 64-bit

External hard drive HP SimpleSave installed my Dell Studio XPS.  When you use the reboot option, is unable to start Windows.  When I unplugged, everything works fine.  Called HP and they told me it was a windows problem, probably in my BIOS.  Called Dell, who was kind enough to check my BIOS, but they did solve the problem.  Has learned to work around the problem by disabling SimpleSave any time I want to use the restart.  I can do it, but I think that things work as advertised.  Would appreciate any help.

Again, check the boot order in your BIOS to ensure USB enabled starting isn't the 1st in the boot order.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to HARD drive to drive 1 in the boot order.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  • Restoring files of Simplesave

I'm trying to restore files after a system on my Windows 7, HP Simplesave system recovery (I think 500).   It is said in the online manual, double-click the hp simplesave icon in the system tray.   The Simplesave unit is connected with the screening of blue light but I do not see the icon in the systray.

    Hello ghoppa6,

The SimpleSave reader should be strong when you connect the USB cable to the computer. If this isn't the case, then AutoPlay can be disabled in Win - 7 and perhaps you want to re-inable it. http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Change-AutoPlay-settings#1TC=Windows-7

Meanwhile, I open the external drive and find the SimpleSave folder and inside should be a folder called HPSimpleSave. Double-click it to start the program, then you can set up the restore of your files.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • FileHistory on SimpleSave Backup

I used my SimpleSave drive for several years now.

But after I installed Windows 10 (64) it fills up very quickly.

Most of the drive is now filled with "FileHistory.

How can I get rid of this? I need my own files only which is documents and images.

    SAKUP

I do not recommend delete you what either, because I have no way of knowing what you have installed on your system.

But since you asked so nicely, I'll have to take a "guess."

My guess is that you have a history of Windows 10 on file. Historical files prefer a disc external to save libraries, office, Contacts, and Favorites. Is the large history files file?

Historical files Windows are accessible from Control Panel>file history. Here you can disable.

Next, create new files to make sure that SimpleSave is actually save your new files.

If SimpleSave does not work, you need not keep a history file.

If this isn't the case, then you must continue to use the file history.

If the history of the files is not enabled, then I have no way of knowing what are your particluar files. You could save elsewhere, then delete those external hard disk to see if it breaks anything.

BTW: I'm surprised to hear you SimpleSave working in 10 Windows because it was not compatible for others.

Hope that brilliantly answers your question.

  • Software HP SimpleSave does not load

Just bought a HP SimpleSave 1 TB drive. Plugged into my computer the first time, and the software came fine. I chose to not make a backup right then and exit the software.

Now, the software will not set up properly at all. When I attach it to the port USB of the Launcher comes up and then opens a window of HP SimpleSave, but this window is empty. Same thing happens when I try to run HPLauncher.exe from the virtual CD drive or HDSimpleSave.exe of the drive itself. There is no SimpleSave icon in my system tray.

    System details:

    Windows 7

Office ZT with AMD Phenom II X 4 945 processor and 8 GB of RAM

I would be grateful for any help or suggestion.

    Bob

I now have the answer to this problem. I called the HP SimpleSave Support and the agent told me to plug in my USB port on my HP laptop. It worked this time; I think I tried before, but it worked well this time. I hardly believe it's as simple as that!

  • Software for the disc md1000h of HP SimpleSave external hard

    Hello

Due to some problems I had with double back-up on my hard drive, I decided to just format the hard drive and start on a table shaves.  However, I see the user guides on the support page for this product (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=4023091 & lc = on & cc = us & dlc = in).  Where can I access/download software?  Also, once that I have the software, what do I do with it?  Is it just a matter of unzip the contents of the file on the hard drive?

    Thank you in advance!

    Kevin

    Hello Smash,

I can tell you that it is something that HP is not easy for someone to find.

Download link for the SimpleSave software for your model.

EDIT: this link is no longer available, HP no longer provides the download.

Unzip the content in the external drive HP, NOT your computer.

The content contains an autorun.inf file that will allow the software to run when it is connected, if Windows is configured to allow autorun programs.

If she's not autorun, you can open the external hard drive and click on the exe file yourself.

There is a user manual in a folder of the zip file as Documentation that you can read. Look on page 6.

This should do it for you.

    It will be useful.

    MO,

    Welcome to the HP Forum!

I guess in this regard; Please bear with me.  I have used several of these discs over the years, but never the software that accompanies the equipment.

According to this SimpleSave c01824301 user manual , before unplugging the SimpleSave backup box, you are supposed to close the monitor in your taskbar.

    Page 5 States:

    • Before disconnecting your drive HP SimpleSave
    • exit right to the monitor HP SimpleSave HP SimpleSave
    • then click on exit.

This seems to mean that the monitor is a scheduled task and you can control it with the Task Scheduler.

Of course, if the indicator little blue box-in-box is still in your taskbar, you can simply disable the software in this way and then worry about how to find and kill it in Task Scheduler later.

    I hope this helps.

  • SimpleSave 1 TB Drive

I just installed a Simplesave backup device on my computer. (1 TB)

The initial operation took place as announced. The drive was recognized, a backup and readers have been monitored and changed the backup files. The player off even when the computer was off.

On subsequent starts, the drive is recognized, but the disk monitoring software does not start. I need navigate the Simple save virtual disk and manually start the software. He's trying to do a complete system to the top all over again. It is only after the cancellation that the operation will be the system tray icon appear but I don't know whether or not he makes incremental back ups.

The manuals are not very clear.

What is normal for this system? I expect to monitor the system every time you start and continue to back up files that will change, not all over again.

For the simple save hard disk to operate effectively, it must have this boot went to start your computer.  Just add the simple save shortcut to your Start menu.

Click on: my computer, open the c drive, then: C:\Program Data\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\

When you go to the start menu it just copy and paste the simple save shortcut to this menu.  The next time that you start your computer to the simple register the software will start and you're ready to go.

  • HP SimpleSave 500 GB external hard drive is identified however the data is not displayed

Hi, I have a HP SimpleSave 500 GB external hard drive. Till a month back I had copied, files, documents, mp3 etc in this player. And a few weeks back when I plugged it to recover some data on this subject, I was unable to see any folder in which I had copied the same. In the properties it shows to me that about 120 GB is used, which some how make sure that data are on it, however, due to an unexplained error, I am unable to see. Any help will be appreciated.

    Hi TinmanSav,

Follow the suggestions below for a possible solution:

Method 1: Run the hardware and devices Troubleshooter and see if it makes a difference.

Open the hardware and devices Troubleshooter

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/open-the-hardware-and-devices-Troubleshooter

Method 2: I suggest you disable and re-enable the USB controller and check.

Use Device Manager to disable and re-enable all the USB controllers. This allows controllers to recover the port USB of his condition does not respond. USB controllers represent the USB ports in Device Manager.

To disable and re-enable the USB controllers, follow these steps:

    a. click Start, type "Device Manager" in the start search box and press ENTER.

    b. Expand Universal Serial Bus of controllers.

Note: You need to scroll the list to find this point.

    c. right-click on the first USB controller under Bus USB controllersand then click Uninstall to remove it.

    d. Repeat steps above for each controller USB is listed under Bus USB controllers.

    e. restart the computer. After the computer starts, Windows will automatically check for changes on the hardware and reinstall all USB controllers that you uninstalled.

    f. check the USB device to see if it works.

Method 3: Check if the external hard drive is recognized in disk management and assign a drive letter to the same.

To open disk management, follow these steps:

    ·         Click Start, type disk management in the start search box and press enter.

If the drive is detected in disk management, I suggest you to assign a drive letter and see if that does the trick.

    For instructions, see this article:

Change, add, or remove a drive letter

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/change-add-or-remove-a-drive-letter

You can also check the external hard drive on another computer.

Let us know if that helps.

A week ago I updated my Mac Mini end of 2014 to Sierra and, among other drawbacks, I found that the "to comments of this Mac window" doesn´t show when it is called. In addition, the button of the substitution of Apple ban on which they consider unreliable applications (i. e.  those not manufactured by Apple or not using the iTunes channel) is now gone and I won't unintentionally control I have in my computer. In this case, this means that I can't update latest version of Penny Fletcher of his useful Multimarkdown application.

  • I resized the Partition Mac to make more space for BootCamp and now Windows will not boot

On a collague MacBook Air running 10.11.4, we used disk utility to reduce the Mac Partition so that we could then use a Windows tool to extend the BootCamp partition. However, upon restart, we got a BACK screen with the error that Windows cannot start because it cannot find the boot device.

    Help, please?

This is not a mechanism supported by Apple to change the size of the Windows partition. Apple supports the remove/reinstall only.

We try to remedy. Please after the release of the following OSX Terminal commands.

    diskutil list

    Cs diskutil list

    sudo TPG - vv - r see the/dev/disk0

    sudo fdisk/dev/disk0

What is the model/year of the MBA? Please, do not post the serial number of your Mac. Orders 'sudo' will ask for your password.
