HP xw4600 workstation: 6 beeps and no display

Hello
I have a problem 3 days ago, I turned off my pc normally during the night, when I corrected it on the next morning, that it works but I couldn't see anything on the screen and I only heard 6 beeps, after searching the net, have proposed that this is mainly caused by "secure starting" is enabled , and the way to turn it off is to remove the graphics card and use the one built into the bios, but the problem here, it is that I don't have a VGA integrated to do this, is there any solution for this? Thank you

Hello:

Secure boot is n/a to your PC, your PC is released prior to windows being around 8.

The problem is probably due to a bad sitting video card or video card failure.

Remove and firmly reinsert the video card and see if that takes care of the issue.

If this is not the case, most likely the video card died on you.

See the troubleshooting guide, Chapter 5, page 44.

  • HP Pavilion 500-054: HP Pavilion 500 6 beeps cannot no display

    I have a HP Pavilion 500. I recently went to my BIOS screen and the BIOS did update then my computer shut down. Now every time I turn on my computer, I get 6 beeps and no display. The light stays on and I can hear my fans running, but that's all.

    I didn't change anything in the BIOS before or during this time, I went alone to the screen automatically updated. I have a graphics card in my PC which came with the computer, but this is not a new installation, and has been since I bought (2 years ago.)

    You are not sure if the material breaks and it's a coincidence, or if the BIOS update has messed up my computer?

    Thanks for any help.

    Hello:

    In addition to what Erico posted, you had previously installed a video card no HP, correct?

    Because the product for your PC specification indicates that it came with W8, you would have needed to go into the BIOS, disable secure boot and turn on legacy mode so that the video card working.

    Otherwise you would have obtained the alarm beep 6 just after you installed the card.

    Then... I think that what has happened, is the set of update of the BIOS the BIOS of your computer to its default settings (off legacy mode, active secure boot) and now your video card is rejected.

    Recommendation... stop, unplug the PC and remove your add on video card.

    Plug power on your PC and to go into the BIOS, turn on legacy mode and disable secure again boot.

    Shut down the computer, unplug it and reinstall your add on video card.

  • ESXi 3.5 U3 in workstation 6.5 and server 2.0 installation

    Setup an ESXi server in a virtual machine seems to be a good approach to test and play arround, I thought...

    Compared to the search for a cheap HW to set up a physical ESXi, it should be much easier, I thought...

    I am a beginner with ESXi...

    Looking arround VMware communities and internet it turns that there seems to be so much confusion

    on how to configure a virtual machine as on how to configure a physical server with ESXi!

    What I think about the approach of the VM is the following (which can be useful for others...):

    • Setting up ESXi virtual machine seems to be possible with a few tricks, tweaking the vmx file, etc.

    • VMware Workstation 6.0 and 6.5 so that VMware server 2.0 should support this approach.
      There seems to be some gurus VMware autour, who has set in motion...

    • It should work on Intel and 'new' AMD dual core CPU.
      We should have supported 64-bit virtualization HW and DEP (HW data execution prevention)

    • We should have a 64-bit OS, where we install 2.0 Server or Workstation 6.x, but it is only a requirement, when we intend to run the 64-bit within the limits, no clients?
      ESXi from my understanding is not 64 bit application but a 32-bit, right?
      So it seems useless for an OS 64 bit on our machine.
      If we do so, we need to know, we can only install 32 bit OS in our ESXi server. But this is suffient to test...

    So far so good, let's do it. I'll start with the VMware workstation 6.5 I just got.

    My test platform:

    • AMD Athlon 64 X 2 5200 +, 8 GB RAM, card mother ASUS M2N SATA drives, etc.

    • Windows Server 2008 SP1 Datacenter Edition

    • VMware Workstation 6.5.1 build-126130

    What I did then:

    • Installation of a new virtual machine in VMware workstation with these settings:
      -OS comments: other
      -2 processors
      -1048 MB RAM (have seen comments saying 1 GB is not enough, need a little more than 1 GB)
      -VMware HW version: 6.5
      -10 GB disk, SCSI, persistent, preallocated not (you can also use allocated in advance, if you have enough free space)
      -1 bridged NETWORK adapter
      -3 custom maps (VMnet3), for later use...

    • CD/DVD (IDE): connected to ISO: F:\VMware6.5-VMs\VMware-VMvisor-InstallerCD-3.5.0_Update_3-123629.i386.iso

    • Did not start the virtual machine now but check/add something to the vmx file created:
      -Add the following:
      Monitor.virtual_exec = "hardware".
      monitor_control.enable_svm = 'TRUE' (for AMD, but this seems to be an old not more necessary framework for ESXi 3.5 U3?, not sure so left in it)
      monitor_control.restrict_backdoor = 'TRUE '.

      If you have INTEL CPU, use:
      monitor_control.vt32 = 'TRUE' (for Intel, but this seems to be an old not more necessary framework for ESXi 3.5 U3?)

      -Check the following lines and correct if necessary:
      scsi0.virtualDev = "free".
      ethernet0.virtualDev = "e1000".
      Ethernet1.virtualDev = "e1000".
      ethernet2.virtualDev = "e1000".

    ethernet3.virtualDev = "e1000".

  • Then propelled to the top of the virtual machine:
    -L'installation began of the ISO
    - And now he's going very slowly...
    After about 3 or 4 h this typical yellow screen disappears and a black rises!

  • - [F11] displays some strange error messages, see attached screenshot
    -Installation appears to hang now...
    -Oh no, he's just a little (the installation screen initial is again coming (welcome...) Please select CANCEL / REPAIR / INSTALLATION)
    Of course, the virtual machine has restarted but there is no bootable on the boot disk installation?

    It's at least the 5th or 6th attempt to operate, very frustrating!
    Wait for, after all these good and useful, advice I found before.

    Question: Why does close to 4 hours, then ANDS upward with an unbootable installation?

    Anyone has an idea what is wrong?

    What Workstaiton 6.5, which is causing the problem

    Even I did something stupid ot totally wrong?

    What these error messages (see attached)?

    Obviously, they have developed at the beginning of this facility and then it happened.

    Tomorrow will try the same server 2.0...

    Any help appreciated,

    Hans

    What jmattson forgets to tell you, is that workaround for version 0F the AMD CPU is always available in workstation 6.0.x

    It has been removed for ease of maintenance of the code and well... the processor will forever be...

    So you should be able to get ESX running under Workstation 6.0.x

    Another clue is that the families of processors numbers are written in hexadecimal notation not in decimal form as humans like to use...

    We programmers tend to forget that you ignore maybe 0F (hex) = 15 (dec) and only 10 (hex) = 16 (dec)

    So 10 (H) is just family version 16 and you're still on 15.

  • MacBook Pro done three short beeps and a pause.

    MacBook Pro made three short tones beeps and flashes the power on light then made a break of approximately at the same time it does beep. What it repeats. I stopped it by cutting off all the external references and by pressing the switch for about 10 seconds. Any thoughts?

  • ASUS GeForce GTX 750TI install on Pavilion P6 2010UK leads to 3 beeps and black screen

    Hello

    I recently tried to install a 750TI Asus GeForce GTX on my HP Pavilion P6 2010UK using a SATA 6-pin PCI Express power connector, but after starting I get three beeps and a black screen. Can someone help me with this please?

    As an observation, the PC was working fine before you install the new card.

    Hello

    Many of the graphics cards NVIDIA GTX 750 will not work in the HP PC that do not have a BIOS version 8.  Your PC has a BIOS version 7 and I do not expect HP to publish a version 8 BIOS for your PC.

    Return the card and try one of the models that should run on a PC equipped with a legacy BIOS.

  • Satellite A210 - cannot install common module and driver display

    Just down to XP, downloaded drivers from toshiba and the installation was completed with an error not saying no driver found for my hardware. That's happened with the common Module and ATI Display Driver.

    I mean, I need em both!

    Help!

    Hello

    I checked the page European driver of Toshiba and it seems that XP drivers have not been to this A210 series!

    I think that you just tired to install common Modules is not supported on this laptop.
    That is one reason why you can not install it.

    With regard to the display driver.
    Try to install the drivers for the laptop models:
    PSAEJE satellite A210
    Equium A300D PSAK2E
    Equium L350D PSLE2E
    Satellite P200 PSPBLE
    Satellite L350D PSLE0E

    In my opinion, one of the pilots freed from these series should run.

  • Desktop HP Pavilion h8-1150z: desktop HP Pavilion h8-1150z - 6 beeps and no start

    My Home Office HP Pavilion (Pav HP h8-1150z AMD (Angelica) 3 c NAPC) is about 3 and a half years (and apparently 6 months past my HP Care Pack coverage extension).   It runs Windows 7.  Yesterday while the computer was not idle, he began to make a new sound of snoring (a bit like a fan noise).  So I stopped the machine.

    Now, when you try to restart, it gives 6 beeps and goes no further.  It's always a little strange noise of snoring.  After my research, it looks like it's some pre video failure.

    I tried to remove the graphics card and re-sitting there.  While I had the video card, I tried to restart.  The sound of snoring had gone, but still have the 6 beeps.  While the Office has been opened, I also reinstall memory and blew out the dust.  Still no luck.

    I've seen a few suggestions to clear CMOS but don't know what I would need to do it with this machine.  I unplug the machine and press down the power button for several seconds to erase any residual power.

    Any suggestions/recommendations?  If it looks like my graphics card has gone bad, any suggestions on how to buy a compatible replacement?

    Thank you.

    old_geekster,

    I talked to Support PNY and they agreed that the graphics card, I bought should be compatible but does not appear (maybe because I was running an old version of the bios on the HP computer, but I found myself stuck in being not able to update).

    So I ended up finding another graphics card (EVGA GeForce 8400 GS 1 GB DDR3 PCIe 2.0 graphics card 16 x) and that did the trick!  Once I have installed the new card I was back running.

    Thank you once again for all the help you have provided me and your community support!
