• Satellite C850 - how to prevent breaking easily the VGA port

Hello

Our school has recently made 20 portable Toshiba L850 and computers C850. As most of the staff allows to connect to his projector VGA port, VGA The port must be strong.

In recent days, we have 3 laptops with the Port VGA brought away from the laptop! just one thumb on the cable when connected breaks this port, and we cannot get a Toshiba repair, because it's our fault. Fixing this problem will cost us an entirely new Mobo that will most likely cost to buy a new laptop.

All solutions on how we can prevent the VGA port to stop so easily? There are no screws to screw the VGA port, unlike all of our older laptops that do not break and lasted much longer than 7 days...

It is not easy to write something about it, except to say when you remove or disconnect VGA cable do slowly, gently and may move slightly left/right.
I put t know if this is a design flaw. I think that everything is tested until it goes to production.

• TV VGA port - port of the DVI - D computer - help!

I'm trying to connect my TV to my desktop computer. The TV has a VGA port (checked the works of port). The computer has a DVI - D port. I have a DVI - I to VGA cable and a DVI - I to DVI - D adapter. But the connection is not recognized by the computer.

3 possibilities. (1) connection is faulty; (2) DVI port is defective; or (3) DVI port is not enabled.

Asuming 1 & 2 discover fine options, how to activate the DVI port?

You're right... it has a HDMI port on the back labeled ""HDMI / DVI 1"... you must use this port." You must also use a stereo cable separated from 3.5 mm to the sound. If you please see this Insignia 32 '' HDTV manual of your TV. Pay attention to the instructions for DVI sat. TV - box on page 10 and DVD/BluRay on page 13. You want to use these instructions but apply them to your computer as shown on page 8.

"You can use the 1/DVI HDMI on your TV to connect a DVI device to your TV. You will need to attach a HDMI-DVI adapter at the end of the HDMI cable (or a HDMI-DVI cable-all-in-one) that will connect to the DVI device. "Precision added by me.

• How to connect my 23 "Cinema HD (DVI - D) to a VGA port?

I have a 23 "Cinema display HD display (2008) I'm trying to connect to a VGA port. According to my research, it seems that VGA and DVI - D are compatible, but I can't make it work. When I cycle the power on the computer as well display cycles, but I cannot get any video. I guess there is a problem with the adapter, and hoping that someone can recommend one that works?

A simple adapter won't work, you need a VGA to DVI converter, such as:

http://www.MonoPrice.com/product?C_ID=101 & cp_id = 10114 & cs_id = 1011401 & P_ID = 8214 & have q = 1 & format = 2

Make sure that the VGA port is capable of 1920 X 1200 60 Hz.

• Pavilion 500-070: VGA port broken on HP Paviliion

Recently, I had planned to put a few new parts (PSU, processor, graphics card) in my PC. I opened the folder to clean some dust out with compressed air. I closed it and I have no signal VGA connection to my monitor. I opened the box and messed with the port from the inside until it worked. A little later, the start of the port does not again and my previous dose did not. I tried the cable VGA and monitor with another computer, so I know they work.

Anyway, the VGA port on the back is damaged and it does not work. I called HP and because my computer is no longer under warranty, they said it will take more than $300 to fix and I'm not so interested in this possibility.

My question is whether, since I already ordered a graphics card, if I install a new graphics card, I will be able to connect the monitor directly into the card and be able to use my computer like this? Or is there an option that I need to be able to navigate? If it's the latter, I'll have to fix it or get a new motherboard.

I know that my computer is a bit old and I'm a little new to this, but any help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you!<>

Enter the system BIOS/UEFI parameters by repeatedly tapping on F10 key when starting upwards. In some cases, you will have to type the ESC key to access the boot menu, THEN press the F10 key.

I say you may need to disable the onboard graphics in the BIOS as BIOS may already be set to 'Auto' mode which automatically detects which graphics connector is being used and automatically use this adapter. But if it is specifically set to "integrated graphics", you will need to change it to 'Auto' or 'PCI-e '. I can't give you specific shows once you are in the BIOS, because the BIOS interfaces can vary considerably. But you should be able to navigate through the different sections and find the graphics settings, it is not so difficult. You can visit the BIOS settings before you make your purchase just to be sure that you are convinced that you will find the necessary parameters. Or, you can install the card and see how it goes, if you do not get a screen so you know that you should disable the graphic edge.

Another consideration is that you have only a 300W power supply which probably is not a PCI-e power connector. The PCI-e slot itself provides only 75W so I would limit your new card to 75W or less.

Still another consideration is that you will probably need to disable "Secure Boot"in the BIOS also.

IMHO, I think that replacing the motherboard would be unaffordable.

• Satellite P750 - unable to connect an external display via the VGA port

Hi all

My problem is the following:

I tried to connect my P750 (running on W7 x-64) an external display using the VGA cable port. Unfortunately, these devices recognize my phone. Laptop does not recognize the external display, you can see in the graphics settings as additional display, but the screen shows "no signal".

The computer always identifies the screen correctly, so it seems that there is communication from the screen to the PC, but not the reverse.

This has been verified with 3 separate screens and television - still the same. All the screens work properly with the other PC.

I already have:

-try to play with FN + F5 / "windows" + buttons P - no change
-install the latest drivers BIOS and video site Web from Toshiba - no change

Suggestions how to operate? Is it possible that the VGA port is faulty?

Thank you in advance.

Hello

You have the same problems with a HDMI output port?
Usually, you don't need to change anything to get the external monitor works.
Press Fn + F5 several times until the monitor RGB (VGA) was selected
Since you can choose an HDMI output too, you should pay attention to this option.

Have you tried to change the resolution before using the Fn + F5?
It s worth a try

Last but not least, you could set the default BIOS (press F9 BIOS and save the changes by pressing F10). But I don't very well if the BIOS contains some parameters of port RGB (VGA) m

I have a desktop HP p6000 computer, running Windows 7, and the VGA port should have stopped working. The monitor is no longer working or showing no signal. I tried the cable and the screen with my laptop and both work very well. I opened the side of the case, has blown all the dust inside, removed the 2 screws holding the port to attempt to reinstall the connection but impossible to remove.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Try to start with a RAM only.
Try clear CMOS.

But maybe the graphics chip has disappeared.
You have an additional graphics card?

• Lack of Aspire V5 573g VGA port?

You just bought a new V5 Aspire (ACER ASPIRE V5 - 573 G-54208G50AII). On the card it says that this computer has a standard VGA (D - sub), that I took to mean a plug 15 blue pins. I am misstaken? Instead, it has a port that it looks like a mini display port. The specifications are incorrect or if I should have a VGA port?

Hello...

• CQ62-410US stuck with "Several monitor - Clone View" and VGA port does not

Hello!

I have a Compaq CQ62-410US computer laptop with an Intel GMA 4500 M (onboard) video card and a port output VGA, Windows 7 x 64 operating system. A few weeks back the screen was broken (kick straight punch of a child) and nothing could be transmitted via the VGA output either, but the laptop booted and I could hear the sound of Windows 7 logon. I never checked before the VGA output port.
Yesterday, I replaced the screen broke up with and identical. The fine (full-screen) display in case of back work (boot from USB Flash and the sea + test images), but in Windows 7, two vertical black stripes appeared on the sides because lower than the native resolution. The resolution can be changed at native 1366 x 768 "Screen resolution" because the display is set by default to "Multiple monitors" (I have no other monitor connected, only the built-in screen) and "display of Clone. The built-in display is set as secondary and 'Generic non - PnP' is defined as primary. Any attempt to set the integrated display as primary function or to change the mode "display single" / "Extend view" leads to a black screen with the backlight always on, no matter where I change the settings - in the 'screen Resolution' or 'Graphic properties' (from driver Intel). In the 'Screen Resolution' window the pictogram of the screens show a single screen split in two, and when I press the button "Identify" it shows on the screen ' 1 | 2 ", as you left half of the screen is the main display and half right is the secondary display.
I put a Philips monitor to the VGA port, Windows detects and installs the appropriate driver, but there is no picture any of mode I put - Clone, Extend, unique display - monitor.
I tested 3 view of the site of Compaq drivers for my device and the GMA 4500 M drivers from Intel, but the problem is the same (with the drivers from the site intel, on I get only black screen with backlighting.) Pilots are unstable, sometimes at the opening session, page is only a black screen (but before the windows loading screen appear very well) that cannot be changed by "Fn + F4" / "F4" (change view) but a black with the backlight is turned off.
Due to the replacement of the hard disk, I can't use restore of the operating system that is installed at the factory.
Please advise me how to solve the display problem and enable the port VGA (get the image on the external monitor).
Thank you in advance.
SSM there is not output through the VGA input even at the BIOS screen (no material or to issue independent of the operating system support?).

I have attached a screenshot.

Update: I started a live Knoppix CD, and I don't find any problem - unique in 1366 x 768 display configuration; I could even play a game in 3D (OpenGL). While hanging from one monitor to the VGA port, it was found, but when trying to print image to it the OS hung. I guess it's a hardware problem, something to do with the video controller.

I thought about it, it's the GPU, I think that some of the contacts are damaged. Today even in the BIOS screen I see in the middle of the screen a vertical thin purple line which was bounded two screens on a single screen, and all now have a purple tint.

I had a quick glance at the GPU and surprise - it is glued to the motherboard, no sleeve, no welding. The motherboard chipset is also stuck.

See the attached images.

Thank you for the excellent support. I will never buy anything with Compaq logo on it.

• Can I use both HDMI & VGA ports on a VAIO laptop?

HDMI & VGA ports are very close together on the VAIO Laptops. This design is deliberate to prevent users from using two HDMI & VGA ports simultaneously. I'm trying to connect 2 external monitors to my VAIO.

Apparently, this is not a unique situation. I found dozens of conversations forum describing this problem. For example:

"Somebody found a narrow VGA connector? I have the same situation with one Sony laptop with a VGA and HDMI connector, just computer next to each other. I want to connect 2 monitors, but since they are so close, it's one or the other. The graphics card supports two monitors, so don't know why Sony would make it impossible to connect the 2 at the same time. "Posted by LDGrant on Windows Secrets Lounge web site.

Hi odbad1,

Unless you have a desktop Sony (not all in one), then Yes you can replace the video card. But if you have Sony laptop, you CANNOT swap out. Sony laptops have an integrated video card / onboard. To change the video card is to replace the motherboard (and no, can not exchange for an another one-motherboard motherboard are constructed for this particular unit and plug).
