  I think that you are the first person with this issue. According to the specifications of the laptop this laptop model comes with DVD Super Multi Drive (Double Layer) only.

  If I understand you right, you already have the STRANGE new inside. When you say you can't he work as blu ray what does that mean exactly? Have you installed the blu - ray player and tried to watch movies?

  I would like to mount a drive to blu ray rather than the stock dvd burner, and I was wondering if there are problems of compatibility with third party products; I'm not bothered with the looks (perhaps different bezel), but just with the feature: would it actually perfectly inside the status bar and connect to the motherboard?

  The 5830tg should not have any problems with a Blueray.

• Installation of a BLU - RAY DRIVE internal in a 8700 XPS PC.

  My purchase of a Dell XPS 8700 computer has arrived, and I want to install a drive internal blu - ray since mine did not come with one.

  Is this possible?

  I'm a bit of a novice in computer science and I watched videos online of the people equip their computer with a blu - ray player, but none of them is featured a 8700 XPS.  Can anyone help me with instructions on how to:

  -Open the computer

  -connect/install the blu - ray player?

  It should be possible.  The XPS 8700 should come with unused bays where the blu - ray player can be adapted.   But I must warn you that you're dealing with electronics when you do the upgrades and installs.  Please make sure that you watch videos that explain all the security requirements when it comes to the delicate pieces.

  Here is the link to the manuals for the 8700 XPS.   It has both a guide and the specifications for you to review document.  Again, I strongly recommend reading the safety precautions section and "before you begin" to get a better understanding of what you need to do.

  It should also be a section in the manual to know how to install a replacement disk, which will essentially be the step by step instructions.

  Good luck and don't forget to follow the safety guides and installation instructions completely.

• Playing blu - ray movies... the screen turns black. Help!

  My laptop HP dv7 - 4197cl a problem playing blu - ray movies... screen goes black.  When some of the blu ray movies (Green Zone... tried to play 2 drives different blu - ray and "A prophet"), the disc begins to charge to the top and then the screen goes all black.  The disks are new and have no scratches.  Some other blu ray discs will play fine.  I need help.

  I already downloaded the lates bios for my computer and there is no other updates for the HP Media Smart program.  Has anyone else had similar problems?  What can I do else?

  I just downloaded the latest version of HP Media Smart DVD player on HP website and uploaded on my computer.  Once deleted my old program and downloaded the new version, he played very well.  It really sucks that HP did not offer this update on my older version that said that he had no new updates.  Thank you...   The answer is to download the appropriate driver chipset Intel Matrix Storage Manager.

  Select Windows 7 version, 64-bit, download, restart and driver LG blu ray is then installed successfully.

  I bought an IMAC running OS EL captain. I am looking for a drive external blue ray that supports this operating system. I want to be able to burn discs blue ray with the movies I make my camera that supports 1080 p and 4 k. Honestly, I could not find one that supports. The highest he's 10.8/10.7/10.6 Mac OS X.   AFAIK you can use Toshiba video player for playback of DVDs and video files.
  But NOT Blu - ray discs!
  To read disc blue ray, you need to use the WinDVD BD for Toshiba, is another tool installed on the laptop.

  But beware: ONLY Toshiba video player supports converting 2D to 3D
