HQ-Installation of the San

Hi am new to DELL SAN HQ. I installed it with version 3. I need to know what group means? and how do I add SAN all in to watch. Please help me. Thank you

Have you added the public community string in the first group?   Public

If you use the dedicated management functionality, then you will put in the IP address of management, not the address of discovery iSCSI.

  • Installation of the OS: look at a two disk but it is the same storage

    Hello world

I have a UCS (1e) 2.1 with 2 interconnection fabric.  Each fabric have a CF port that is connected to an FC fabric Qlogic 5600.  The Qlogic, there is an old Xyratex F5402e with 2 port connected to the Qlogic.  I configured a Zone including a profile of the UCS and 2 storage ports.  On my box, I configured a logical "mapped" 150 GB disk blade profile on 2 ports of storage (C0P0 and C1P0).  When I start the blade, he sees my Xyratex without problem.

When I try to install a Citrix Xenserver on this profile (on the blade server), installation view 2 discs of 150 GB, instead of 1.  I'm sure I missed something but don't know what.  If I remove one of the storage port in the Zoning of Qlogic, the installation will consider just 1 disk.  But I need my 2 ports of storage for redondancy.

Is there something I need to know in the part of the UCS for the connection of the SAN?

I understand that you use UCS with this kind of old equipment to the result of a problem like that, we will go after our tests in a more official SAN (5500 Nexus and maybe storage Emulex).  But a few moments, we need to test the functionality of the UCS before going to production.

    Thank you for your support!

    Hello Dom,

You must install the MPIO in the Ocean for the redundancy in the SAN world and see only a single disc even with two different paths for target.

  • Upgrading ESX when you are connected to the SAN

Hello. At the time, it was considered preferable to unplug the host SAN during installation or upgrading ESX fram. Is this still the case with ESXi 5.5?

    Hello

In fact, it is always best practice to disconnect from the SAN, but you could do it on the fly as well using the Manager to update if your upgrade to ESXi ESXI 5.1 to 5.5. I have seen many do

without any problem. Just make sure that the hardware is compatible in HCL.

  • Scripted installation crush LUN SAN FC

After an incident, I was the only one to take the blame of I want to start a discussion on a scripted installation problem.

We used a script to kickstart to a wide configuration of our ESXI 5.x several times. This time, I adapt a kickstart to an ESXi 5.1 U1 (custom HP) script and I forgot to disable the FC connection from the blade server. Subsequently, installing replaced a vmfs LUNS DATA and I had to restore several VM´s running with a lot of discussion later.

That's why I want to ask the community if someone really smart guy looked at this issue before to keep installing stupid people (me) to crush the SAn FC lun without connections stop FC?

I added a KS.cfg of sample to give you an overview that we install.

I would appreciate if anyone can give me advice.

On my blades, when to use kickstart, I use the installation option - firstdisk to force th einstall to use the local disk by specifying the internal disk controller driver.  Of course, this does not work when you use the SAN boot, but if you install on a local drive, it should work.

    Example:

    install firstdisk - mptsas

You can also add the preservevmfs - pass if you are super paranoid, but if the local disk is a VMFS, your encrypted facility likely mistake.

Another thing that I do, it's the Image Builder CLI allows you to create a custom image that has the FC HBA deleted drivers, so the installer can not possibly access the LUN CF.  Once installed ESXi, during the kickstart script firstboot section, I have install the HBA driver.  Yet once, if you start in SAN, this won't help.

    Example:

    # Script FirstBoot

    firstboot % - interpreter = busybox

    # In Maintenance mode
    Vim - cmd hostsvc/maintenance_mode_enter

    ############################################
    # Install/configure the drivers.

    # Install HBA QLogic FC-FCoE adapter driver
software esxcli vib install d http://x.x.x.x:8181/Drivers/vib/qla2xxx-934.5.6.0-offline_bundle-887798

  • How can I configure the SAN as much be access from the guest OS

Hello... first post ever here so I apologize if this was already asked, but so far I can't find an answer.

We have a 12 to SAN we would like to share and all the virtual machines on the virtual domain.

The SAN is a dell powervault MD3200i.

I read everything on iSCSI configuration, but what it feels like to give esxi host access to the LUNS for vmotion and other features of vcenter (made).

We need is our access as a guest VM OSs logic 12 TB of drive as a drive to share space.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you.

P.S. I tried connecting to the San of the guest OS via iSCI but once the MS iSCSI initiator will connect and connect to the IQN name local disk VM management cannot see the new volume/drive.

    1. Create a LUNa
    2. Add LUNa to the "storage group" in the SAN
    3. Add Datastore (LUNa) in vCenter formatted as a VMFS (datastore-LUNa)
    4. create a virtual machine.
      1. Installation of the OS, etc.
      2. Add the disk (vmdk)
        1. Select location "Datastore-LUNa.
        2. Maximum size, or you can create several small VMDK in "datastore-LUNa.
        3. Select another SCSI controller:
          1. OS (vmdk1) = 0:0 [(datastore-LUN-OSs)]
          2. Data1 (vmdk1) = 1:0 [(datastore-LUNa)]
          3. data2 (vmdk2) 2:0 = [(datastore-LUNa)]
          4. etc.
        4. log on to the operating system invited
        5. It Manager
          1. turn on the drive
          2. initialize
          3. etc.
      3. Activate the "File server" role in the guest virtual machine OS
        1. create shares as much as you want!
  • Install VMware ESX4 without isolating the San

    Hi all

Our environment is the round base HP BL460c G5 blades, backtracked several outputs spacewalks for storage and running ESX 3.5 (installed locally) that is deployed via Altiris/HP RDP & kickstart scripts.

We had a challenge with it originally, as production LUN could get watered whenever we had to rebuild an ESX host. Remove CF of the environment of the installation drivers did a great job to prevent this.

I, like many others I guess, makes use of an excellent paper titled 'Install VMware ESX3 without isolating the SAN' written by members of communities Véronic and initially hosted on xtravirt.com (this document seems to now have disappeared on the net, unfortunately).

We are now in the final phase of the planning of our upgrade to vSphere, and I am faced with a similar situation. What I really need to know is if I have to rebuild ESX4 ISO without CF pilots, or if he's going to ' play nice and install on the local HARD disk, rather than trashing the VMFS/RDM LUN of ID to the address below. " I realize that the best practice is to perform the insulation, but I would like to cover the bases as much as possible.

Does anyone have experience of this?

Have you tried the '-onfirstdisk = local "the autopartition command argument?  I think that your problem should be solved (unless ESX incorrectly identifies your storage as local, of course).

    -Patrick.

Yes. It is always essential to backup before starting any kind of a major project as an upgrade of the operating system.

  • Portege 2000 - new installation using the PCMCIA CD-ROM XP

I try to install XP on Portege 2000 using the official PCMCIA Toshiba CD-ROM drive.

Install the XP disk boots fine, but after that Setup copied the files it blue screen (BSOD blue). I'm not very tech savvy, but I think it means that the BIOS can 'see' the PCMCIA CD-ROM, but that the real image of XP loaded by the installation program cannot, probably due to missing drivers for the PCMCIA CD-ROM?

Then, I thought that maybe I could use F6 to load additional drivers during the initial installation, but it is beyond me to create the right set of files required. I know that you can download the Freecom drivers, but I don't know what are the driver files from CD to use and how to create from scratch the txtsetup.oem file right.

Does anyone know how to properly use F6 and load the drivers for it?

I found a lot of messages suggesting I copy the installer to the HARD disk and launch the installation from there. My problem is that the XP installation is an upgrade CD, so I will ask you at a certain time to insert a previous Windows CD and if at that time there I don't have a working CD-ROM drive...

First post on this forum so be nice - I did a search but not find a thread with a real solution, but of course if I miss a please report!

    Hello

I managed to install Windows XP Home the Portege 2000 using the PCMCIA reader but I ve used recovery disks original Toshiba which includes the correct driver for external optical drive.

So far I tried not to install Windows XP Home edition, using the Microsoft installation disc.

Maybe you should get the disks of facilities and not use this upgrade disk. I think that on this path, you will be able to install WXP as suggested when you copy data from facilities at the disk directly.
Have you tried to get the original recovery disc Toshiba WXP?

  • OfficeJet Pro 8000: installation of the driver wireless Officejet 8000 Pro says default gateway is 0.0.0.0

I'm chasing a well-documented problem of my printer lost network connection after a variable period of printing to do not. The only way to connect is to change the power supply, but the printer may take 5 minutes to blow and grunts until it settles and prints...

I put a static IP address on the printer (10.0.0.250) as well as an empty default gateway successfully, and the documents are printed after 5mins of blowing and grunting (save the regular lost connection which I'm hunting...).

I put what I thought has a static IP address on the router to match (see image below), but now I don't know if it was necessary, and if the 'hosting of the fixed DHCP server' is correct. It might be useless and missleading...

Using the configuration of the printer to 10.0.0.250 interface, it seems to accept the installation of the network when the default gateway is blank. With the help of 10.0.0.2 caused the 'page not found' error in my browser (Chrome).

However, when you try to reinstall the drivers, the installer has grumbled to the default gateway is set to 0.0.0.0, which currently is the only way it will work...

The Win7 PC is plugged into the router.
The printer wireless to the router.

ipconfig on the pc gives Ethernet card details below.

So basically I have no idea what I'm doing...!

    ==============

Ethernet connection to the Local network card:

    The connection-specific DNS suffix. :
    Link-local IPv6 Address...: fe80::c8e1:63ef:85e0:7 24% 13 c.
    IPv4 address...: 10.0.0.249
    ... Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0.
    ... Default gateway. : 10.0.0.2.

    Router config.

Thank you for your comments. It seems that I solved the problem of the default gateway. Time will tell if the remains of the printer connected through long periods of no use (see update below).

It seems that the configuration of the router of the "DHCP fixed existing host" has nothing to do with the device assigned a static IP address. In fact, it seems that this setting prevents the printer through a default gateway of the router address.

I noticed that when you give the PC a fixed IP, it connected through the router without any other configuration of router. If I reasoned that it may be applied to the printer also, so I moved the printer 10.0.0.251 and Bingo! the default gateway can be set to the IP address of the route.

Since then I downloaded to other updates, which is supposed to correct the common problem of wireless printers, loss of the connection.

I'll try to report in the next few weeks an update about the stability of connection network printers.

    UPDATED: May 23, 2016

And more of the foregoing, my router support suggested I increase a parameter "timeout" from 24 hours to 10 days. I did it more than a week. Today, the printer worked after the impression of not for about 5 days

  • Satellite L875-13D - problem with the installation of the wireless card

    Hello

    > But it does not work yet for Bluetooth,... I have install the driver by the .exe from the Toshiba Web site but when I run the application, I have error that says missing tosbtapi.dll. I founded and downloaded and installed on budget3 and SysWOW. But after that, the installation is blocked. Any ideas?

  • Question about the installation of the OS

I have some problems with the shortcut keys and I want to reformat my system.
Problem is that I have not created recovery cd before, is this going to work if I do it now.

    Thank you

    Hello

Please don t worry about the recovery procedure. It's very simple to do. Put the recovery CD in the CD/DVD drive, start Notepad and press C button and hold it for a few seconds. This will force your unit to boot from the CD/DVD drive.

Follow the instructions on the screen. Standard mode will erase the whole HARD drive and create a partition. If you have only one partition I recommend to set up two of them. One will be used for the OS and application installations. The other can be used for the backup of data.

If you need more instructions, please write again.
