  Most everything worked well.  He signed under the new ID, has access to his games as he left them, and all other parameters and others are as he left them.  The only thing that doesn't seem to work is when it sends text messages, they still say that they came from my Apple ID, not him.  This is - how it is supposed to work under the family share installation, or if she should show his ID?  Is there a way to change this to show his ID?
