  You can try to uninstall and reinstall the network adapter.

  To do this follow these steps:

  1. click on Start, in the Start Search bar type device manager and press enter.

  If you are referring to the favorite links to Internet Explorer, it's what I do...

  Get a USB and navigate to your Vista username account and copy the Favorites folder on the flash drive.

  Plug the USB on your new PC W8.1, go in your user name folder and copy the Favorites folder in this window and let it overwrite the existing Favorites folder, as you see here.

  After the Vista Favorites folder replaces the empty Favorites W8.1 folder, you should be all set when you open Internet Explorer on your new PC.

  Hello and welcome to Microsoft Answers. It seems that your computer is infected with malware. The first thing you need to do is re - associate your executable files with applications.

  First

  Second

  Right click on start > search. Type rundll32.exe in the field of the files to be searched. Choose to search for your main drive (usually C). Select the search hidden files and folder advanced features. Click on the search button to start the search. In the results list, find the associated rundll32 file C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386. Right-click on rundll32 to the left of the directory above and choose 'open file location '. The rundll32.exe file should be highlighted when the folder opens.   1. you try to perform an upgrade or New Installation?

  2. how many accounts there on the system?

  3. do you have other accounts also connected users?

  If so, then close all other user accounts and log into an administrator account and then perform an upgrade installation, which should solve the problem.

  Note: Before you try Windows Installation back to the top of all important data.

  I have only a limited understanding of IIS and ASP.net.

  1. What are they? IIS 5, 6, 7.0?
  2. make sure that your version of Vista can support.
  Go to programs and features > column to the left, turn Windows has on or off > scrolling Internet Information Service > expand (+) sign and make sure if its level of compatibility under Web management tools. Home Premium can go as far as IIS6. > Make sure check marks are on the elements you need to install IIS.

  3. from what I understand, the version of Vista Ultimate and superior is required to install IIS 7.

  This is as far as I know.
