There is no option to buy the latest versions of the software. Creative cloud is only available as an ongoing subscription.
However, you can always buy CS6 software if you wish.

I am a student who does photography on the side as a flexible way to supplement income. I just upgraded to a Canon 70 d (yay, new toys work!) and realize that I now need to upgrade my Lightroom as well.
I'm guessing that the 9.99/month plan would be sufficient for a student (photo is mainly a hobby that pays sometimes for me) but I would like to hear comments from other photographers, esp part-time/news/student, and make sure that it has been a good way for their portfolio and changing demand, too...
With a subscription to CC you will always have access to the latest version, so there is no problem to import the files from your camera.
And $ 10 per month for Lightroom and Photoshop is a good deal in my opinion.
