  I don't know if I should ask here or better in the Instrument Control forum, we will try...

  At the start of the program using VISA, I ask all available ports (for access and properties). In order to distinguish between RS232 and RS485, I use the VI_ATTR_ASRL_WIRE_MODE attribute.

  Surprisingly, the call returns VI_ASRL_WIRE_485_4 which I guess means RS485. However, the port is RS232, this is confirmed by also reading the port description that says: NI PCI-8430/8 (RS232)... (according to the NOT-MAX)

  The software is developed with CVI 8.5 and now using VISA 5.4. As I recently upgraded from VISA 5.3 I suspect some incompatibility, could it be...?

  Since other software also running on the same computer, the runtime is CVI2013.

  If it's a compatibility issue (VISA readme suggests, therefore, that is only compatible with CVI9.0 and later versions), how should I design my software to know - it's sort of stupid if the code is broken in updating a driver.

  I did some research and discovered that it is a known issue and it should be fixed in the new VISA driver version 14.0 (he must be released with the new LabView in August).

  However I don't know that if this version works with your Version of CVI, there is no official information about this yet.

  I have a serious question, and I hope someone here can give me a correct answer, or at least a useful. I'm really afraid that my social standing here in the User Forums is a little weak. You know, anyone who post here regularly has something of a reputation, and according to my own strictly qualitative analysis, my reputation is not as prestigious as it could be.

  Of course, if we had some kind of tool that would give us a feedback quantitative and reliable on the accuracy and usefulness of our messages, then it would be relatively easy for me to improve my reputation. I would simply publish, review the statistics feedback on this post and adjust my display style to match these positions who had the best comments. However, in the absence of such a tool, I have to count to ask you, the regulars of the forum, what you think I should improve my social standing and then think about your answers and to apply these answers to my display style. You may remember this somewhat quaint technique ('conversation') of the past. Before you say "Oh my gawd, how of the 20th century!" Let me say that, although I finally used this technique in a job where I put in place Arab signs with Letraset, I'm sure that it is still a perfectly valid tool. Like Ventura.

  So, fellow Forum-ites: what should I do to improve my social standing in these Forums? The only motivation I can offer are these 'points '. I think you might be able to Exchange 1 to 1 for common frequent flyer of participating airlines, or maybe if you save enough points, you could use for a Memorial light with the Adobe logo. Everything that they are for, I know you want, so please share your responses to my survey and I have some of these 'points' will give the poles with the best answers.

  That is why exact points # of messages of this whole thing is stupid. I had more 25 000 from when I started here. Then, at the last passage, I lost a lot now I'm back to 6000 +.

  Personally, I think that giving a response and the quality of the response is much more important than any one these stupid points and post numbers. Being known by your pillars as someone who gives answers right/correct worked in these parts for at least 10 years now.

  Can someone tell me where I can buy a replacement for my RAM box? I finally decided to go on my poles 2x2gb for 2 x 4 GB sticks, but it was late, I was tired and I broke accidentally one of the arms of the RAM box because I was stupid. So now, the RAM can't lock it up and I fear that any bump serious he will hit coward. However, the attempt to find alternative accommodation has been a beast. I use search terms probably not even appropriate for this. If it is possible to replace this part, I'd rather not buy a shell of computer laptop everything for the single piece...

  I read your message and understand that the DIMM slots are broken on your HP Pavilion dv7 - 1247cl. The DIMM slots are directly connected to the product system map, change the slots would require the entire system board replacement. You can find spare parts by using the guide to maintenance and after-sales service of the products in conjunction with the HP part surfer.

  If you had not reinstalled Vista, we helped you recover the product key of Vista for running old, Vista activated using specific programs.

  But, as you have wiped the hard and reinstall Vista, we will not help you recover the product key.

  Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

  Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

  How do you identify broken links?

  More information, will lead to a solution.

  According to the response of Barry here URL checker, so broken links produce the text "Error 404" or "error 303", sort the table on that column to raise errors. Select and delete the lines you want.

• Broken chapter numbering - 1 book file only

  Windows 7 64-bit. FrameMaker 11, build 11.0.1.382

  I have a book with 5 chapters. In my files, the Format of title 1 (chapter name) Para has the following automatic numbering style:

  C:Chapter < n + > < = 0 > < = 0 > < = 0 >:

  Autodial is checked.

  In the book, numbering... has the value

  Chapter:  ' Continue the numbering from the previous chapter book.

  Paragraph: "Continue the numbering of the previous paragraph in the book."

  All my files are correctly numbering except the file modified in the book (Chapter 5). Title 1 (chapter name) isn't picking up the correct number. It is always wrong to-1.

  And, I have copied this file to one of the other files in the book that works properly. In fact, all the other files in the book don't work properly and they all have the same numbering (in the book) except for the first file (set to 1 or on restart)

  They have all the same characters/para formats, templates, etc..

  Updated numbering... nothing does. It is as if she is 'missing' from the topic in Chapter 4 and therefore not jump to Chapter 5. But, I can't find anything missing.

  There must be something wrong with the chapter 4... but I don't see it. All the files in the notebook of are defined in the same way, and they are all (except the 5 - the last chapter). So, there must be something wrong in the body/content/setup of Chapter 4, right?

  Installation numbering of Chapter 5 of the book is: (should be list Chapter 5).

  

  The numbering of the book set the chapter number Variable.

  The title of your chapter and other formats do not use the building block <$chapnum>. Change so that the building blocks and you're all set.

• The broken book page - InDesign 5.5 numbering

  I have known some very persistent and reproducible errors with book numbering in InDesign 5.5.

  Any comments or ideas would be very welcome.

  Platform: OS X Lion (clean installation), InDesign CS5.5 7.5.2 no plug-ins on the test environment

  Reproducible condition:

  1. Create a new book, activate the automatic page numbering (continues from the previous section).
  2. Create four new documents, each adds ten pages. Make sure Autodial is on.
  3. Add each of these documents to the book.
  4. Save the book.
  5. Update the numbering of the pages of the book.

  Result:

  • The documents are not page numbers correct display book in the book palette. They show the document, no book, parent of numbering. Each document is displayed (1-10) in the book palette.
  • When you view the documents themselves, the first two as expected from the document page number: (1-10) and (11-20). It is also the result when exporting to PDF format.
  • However documents 3 and 4 of the book take page numbers (11-20) in addition, as if they were every second positioned in the book.

  Tested:

  • I tried the automatic replacement of pages options for the book (start on odd/even) without change of numbering. UPDATE: on a book 20 document there are a few sections that seem to reboot as "pairs", so the number restarts randomly throughout the book. Same document and book options numbering, as described here.
  • I tested with different numbers of documents, different pages.
  • Update the numbering after each attempt, no change.

  You may lose everything.  iMessage, like most e-mail services, don't keep permanently undeliverable messages.  They only keep in the short period send queue (I don't know exactly how much time but some Apple tech sites indicate no more than 10 days to two weeks) until they are purged.  That's pretty standard as otherwise, large volume, messaging services would be sitting on tera-bytes of messages not delivered each month.

  You actually have to change my phone number?  If not, let alone sign and only in iMessage when you have the new phone with this set of numbers upward to the service.

  I talked with Alexis in the Apple Support centres to TX and she confirmed after checking that it is a known issue and that she is wanted in. HOWEVER, it also sounded like this problem was not given serious attention it should have because she actually said that she could not say WHEN or even IF this problem would be solved!

  I live in the region of the San Francisco Bay area (California) and I discovered today that SIRI consist is more 3 digit phone numbers. I suspect the recent 9.3.1 IOS upgrade at the end of March has broken it.

  Here's the background: in CA, there is a service 511 people can call to get the traffic information on accidents and traffic problems in their neighbourhood. It is WIDELY used in the SF bay area CA by the drivers that are on the highways, etc. I used the service 511 SEVERAL times and he has always worked, but I him have not used in the last month or so because that I did have major traffic issues to deal with several weeks. Today, there are traffic problems and much to my dismay SIRI would compose is 511.

  I awakened SIRI and said Dial 511. SIRI responded initially with the appellant , but then 2-3 seconds more late SIRI came back and said that I can't call 511. Tried several times, same problem. After I got home (not driving now) I've done a few tests more and find SIRI refuses to dial ANY 3 numbers. I tested 411, 511 and 611 (the latter is the support for my operator AT & T number). Have the same problem with all 3. Call these numbers by manually entering the number works as expected.

  Again, I have used this feature strongly with 511 for a very long time - last time was probably sometime in March and it worked, but as I said I found it was 100 percent broken today.

  Yet once, Alexis of Apple support confirmed this problem has been reported on several occasions and is a known problem but she left me a very bad feeling that Apple cannot take this problem very seriously.

  I need to remember that this is a MAJOR issue. 511 traffic information is a HEAVILY used service in CA and the LAST thing you want someone to do is to pull out their phone and dial this hand because SIRI refuses to make the call!

  Please ensure that this problem is given a HIGH priority, as it is a major security problem because of the 511 service. After all you don't want people tempted to pull out their phone to dial 511 manually when they are driving, as this could cause an accident!

  Note that I have no idea if 911 works even as it's not something you can really try to test calls with since I do not have a real emergency situation. If 911 is broken in the same way, this problem would become even more serious.

  You will have to manually clean the cells that contain expressions. Number reads these text and SUM() ignore them all simply.

  You can clean them in doing the calculations yourself and by replacing the phrase with the result of the calculation, or you can add an = sign before the first number in each of those cells, conversion of the expression of the text in a formula and let the numbers to do the calculations.

  Once you have all the cells showing numbers, you can use SUM() to determine the amount.

  After you spent all this trouble, it will be time to think about what you could change on your data entry to avoid having to do it all again in the future.

  I just bought a laptop Satellite Z30-B-100 by a reseller in my country (Italy) line, it is only after a few hours use the keyboard is out of order (the i key), one of the four metal hook that bind the key to the Board of Directors is broken.

  I can guarantee activate collect and return, the dealer didn't answare at my request, the Toshiba help various numbers 1.27 / minute and after wating for more then 5 minutes thay (7!) close call, ther is not online or e-mail support. What I have to do to get applied my warranty?
